half? unless you count the off topic forum, it would be like post apocalypse in here.. not a single soul left alive

On the other hand, 343 has built a workflow and tools for their facial animation in Halo 4 that is far more complex than ours. They've programmed their own performance capture solver for the face, they've scanned real actors for every character, and the pipeline can be scaled up for the Xbox One easily; Halo 4 is like its lowres version.

The multiplayer looks great graphically in person, SP must be even more impressive. And the game is actually fun to play as well.
You were probably playing an older build, so i expect it to look/play even better. Good impressions derFeef. You have to remember nobody outside Microsoft has seen this version of the game. Any other people who have played it are referencing the demo we've been showing from E3, Gamescom and PAX. - pre GPU and CPU upgrade. Same goes for any of the Forza footage. That's what's on the betas people have, and that's what's on the tour.
When Phil showed me this trailer a few weeks ago, I was telling him this better be the real thing. I was told directly this was taken from XBO builds, with the exception of unlocking the camera for the battle scenes to make it more dramatic.
So this is the real thing.
What game would you compare the combat mechanics? From videos Its resembles me The Witcher. But i'm not seeing anyone making this comparison =/The multiplayer looks great graphically in person, SP must be even more impressive. And the game is actually fun to play as well.

Any combos?
Won't happen, Ryse runs at 30 FPS, Halo 5 is already confirmed to be running at 60 FPS.
Next step is getting it looking closer to real life!!!If this is doable in-game/in-engine with the coming generation of consoles what could be enhanced beyond that?
I have a feeling the campaign will be 30fps, just like killzone.
I imagine if Killzone was out next year it would all be 60fps, unless they specifically wanted 30 for the campaign.
Depends how they use the resources, having said that Halo is 60fps though I would expect that in both single and multi player.

Soldier there looks like a wax museum figure compared to sorcerer. In motion it's not even close, I think you'd find few who'd disagree. That sorcerer demo was definitely the only realtime demo that made me forget I was looking at CG, or not care about it at least. I'm sure Layoosh knows how things are done or which methodology is technically newer or whatever, but the end result is really better with Sorcerer, compared to other methods he mentions (343, ND, he doesn't mention Ryse but I'm guess it's variation of what 343 uses?) even if they are using some more old school approach, which he can't even be sure of as they never said what it is. From what I understand anyway, the disadvantage of that approach is that you can do less manually after the mocap which they probably don't care much for anyway. It's also worth noting that whatever QD is doing consistently manages to run in real time in their games whereas others consistently rely on doing it through videos. To me, the skin shading is more impressive in ryse along with the eyes, teeth, lips:
Like i said before, maybe it looks more impressive to me because it has that cg look, and the dark sorcerer is aiming for a more realistic look? Both look extremely amazing.
Actually Ryse shatters dark sorcerer in terms of facial expressions. This was posted by Laa-Yosh on b3d, i believe he is working on Watch Dogs:

I wonder if that will become a trend...I have a feeling the campaign will be 30fps, just like killzone.
Damn, the urge to buy an X1 is rysing. xD
You really need to rewatch both, because in motion it looks better in Ryse than in Sorcerer, especially in instances when Sorcerer is not in full close up.
I can't wait to see the character models in Halo 5. 343 wowed me with Halo 4. I'm preparing my jaw now.
I did, yesterday actually, and as I said, it's not even close. Ryse looks clearly 'fake', even though I don't have enough technical knowledge to explain what looks that way. It never for a single moment tricked me into thinking I was looking at something that's not game graphics. There's several scenes for example where almost nothing but the character's jaw seems to move, which is just never the case in sorcerer demo where face seems continuously fluid. I think they are also far better in capturing the minutiae of general body movement and making them look perfectly in sync with what the character's head is doing. Just the overall thing never 'breaks' really. Actually, for whatever reason Rise reminded me of some kind of updated version of Heavenly Sword cutscenes if that makes any sense. You really need to rewatch both, because in motion it looks better in Ryse than in Sorcerer, especially in instances when Sorcerer is not in full close up.

That is the only scene which I felt is comparable though...under other lighting conditions it isn't the case at all. For instance, the old guy screaming in the trailer looks much less realistic. I still think the overall modelling is better in the DS demo.

Skin is oily. And in battle setting is pretty realistic. The Dark Sorcerer on the other hand is not. Having strong lights pointed at you causes sweating, so the dry skin is a valid complaint.Soldier there looks like a wax museum figure compared to sorcerer. It doesn't look like wax in that shot either, looks like regular oily skin.Oily skin doesn't look like wax. It's probably a bad shot anyway, there are scenes in Ryse trailer where the characters looks better.
During the demo they shoot the scene over and over again. The character even gets scared almost to death. Completely dried skin is unrealistic. They don't shoot actors when they're sweating, unless they want to have them sweating for some reason. They way you make it sound, everyone in every movie would be constantly looking sweaty, which is not the case at all.
I hear this praise for 343 a lot, but I don't see this massive improvement over Reach, which was also a fantastic looking game. They had the advantage of creating a game using bungie's engine and iterating on it rather than starting from scratch. Sure they improved certain parts of the renderer, but they did so at the cost of scale, features and gameplay.Just started playing Halo 3 bc Games for Gold. Man, 343 did wonders on 360, really. Halo 3 is fun but man, it hasn't aged good visually.

I was wide eyed when I saw that intro on the screen during E3
As I was saying earlier, sorcerer demo is the only thing out there that I thought was good enough to avoid this. I mean of course it was still computer graphics, but finally good enough to not constantly remind me what it is, and I could appreciate the actual acting instead of just appreciating 'graphics', which rarely happened (and only at certain moments) with some other games. I'm still quite impressed with what other game cutscenes were/are doing, but it's not as good. With as much respect as I think you deserve in response to this, is there a game you think stands up to this standard? I don't disagree that we're clearly looking at computer generated imagery, I just think the standard that we should expect otherwise is, frankly put, insane.
Since you're claiming technical ignorance (as well as spelling ignorance) which prevents you from substantiating the overall critique, could you describe which games out there avoid this? Without being too harsh, I imagine any example you highlight could be dismissed quite easily by the expectations you're putting forward here.
See I think the combat actually looks pretty good here.

I know upon closer inspection it does (I actually did inspect it closer to find that out) but I guess it doesn't move right, or not enough or something, so it doesn't leave the expected impression. You are right, it jumps from scene to scene very fast, maybe it will be different when I get to see it with actual continuity. Do you know who's doing mocap for this, is it by some chance the same studio that did mocap for Heavenly Sword?Everything moves, but You dont notice this, because they jump from scene to scene and most animations are fast. Look at this fragment in slow motion:

This fragment is also good:

Of course there are games that trick you into thinking you're looking at real world people and not video game characters, eg. Beyond Two Souls, The Last of Us, Killzone Shadow Fall, Infamous Second Son, the Sorcerer demo. But Ryse fails spectacularly at achieving that goal. With as much respect as I think you deserve in response to this, is there a game you think stands up to this standard? I don't disagree that we're clearly looking at computer generated imagery, I just think the standard that we should expect otherwise is, frankly put, insane.
hm.. didn't played Remember Me. Is the combat good?

hm.. saw some videos. Have you played The Witcher 2? I'm still feeling it more like TW2. Which I think is "simple" too. But the enemies encounters make it complex and addictive (and of course the powers). It's okay, not the strong point of the game. The fun thing about it though is that you can create your own combos. So you can have healing combos, or more damaging combos depending how you arrange the buttons in the combat lab.
It's very simple and Ryse feels like that actually, without indicators or the combo lab.
