Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

I'm (re)playing obscure the aftermath for psp and i have to say it looks really good imo, here some images for those who don't know it:

Man sound shapes is REALLY short and easy(absolutely not interested in death mode), but i really like the music of the second level from beck. Any suggestions for community levels? What are the best ones(especially music-wise)? Are the dlc worth?

Is Obscure good? I read some reviews and they don't favor it too much, but I prefer the opinion of Vitabros. How would you compare it to SH Origins?

I think the twin pack will do 100k+ easy in Japan. The system is doing 'pretty' well over the at the moment, be interesting to see what that Argos deal did for UK numbers, a couple of extra thousand maybe?

What Argos deal? Never heard about that.

Personally, I am guessing the FFX/X-2 Vita Twin Pack will do 200k+ on launch week alone. I am not a sales expert, but I am using 3 games as reference for that claim: P4G (another PS2 port) did 137k+, although it was Vita exclusive. Dragon's Crown and the latest Sen no Kiseki (both available on Vita and PS3) did 71k+ and 81k+ on Vita respectively on launch week.

The FFX/X-2 Vita Twin Pack is cheaper (and gorgeous also) than any of those and comes with two games, one of which happens to be one of the most popular FF entries among the japanese. It is also ranking substantially higher than the separate entries on Amazon JP.

Man, I really can't wait to play FFX on my Vita, and hopefully XII as well not too long after that.

There are tons of community levels out there. There is this active person that is called A45X on there, he/she released tons of levels that have been very good imo. His/her last one (I think it was called in the silence) has great music. Another one has a theme of Silent Hill.

The DLC is only worth it if you A) are planning on creating community levels or B) you want to get easy trophies. They're instruments that you can use to create your levels, they come with beat school lessons, they showcase what you can do with the melodies. You have to guess where the notes are to the sounds that you are hearing. You get silver trophies whenever you finish beat school lessons.

Thanks for the SS tip! I'll look for that user. I really like the game and mostly the music. I wish Beck and others would bring even more levels to it.

Top of the page: If you haven't gotten Dragon's Crown, Lone Survivor and P4G, do it now. All of them are great games of their own genres.

Didn't touched my Vita for some days because of the horrible store update.

Anyway what the opinion here about that overpriced ugly looking PSP action RPG thingy branded as a Vita game and called Valhalla Knights 3? I see only 69 ratings in the store, this thing muse be freaking horrible since people didn't even bother to rate it.

People are waiting for Black Friday deals. At least I am.

Thanks. Maybe I should drop the cash for some PSone Classics then. They never go on sale right? Might as well try and get something from buying them.

They rarely ever do BUT hold out until Next Monday, the 28th before you do any final purchases.
The offer ends in October 29th at 23:59 PM I believe, so who knows maybe from now until then they might put some games on sale that would interest you.

Don't has a Vita yet, probably gonna get one around Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holidays BUT...

I noticed Persona 3: P was on sale this week. Now, I was planning on picking up Persona 4: G, but I think after I play P4G it would be hard to go back to P3G. Mechanics, graphics, etc. all seem better on P4. So I think it'd be better to start with th "worse" (but still great) game than the best game. What do you guys think? Should I get it, it's $10?

I'm not even sure if I'll like it tbh. But I've have played some turn based games, more along the likes of SRPGs (Fire Emblem, Shining Force) and liked those. And going to school, social interaction, etc seems fun.

Little premise, i'm not a fan of survival horror since they were never scary imo, for me they are just third person action-adventures with monsters.
At its time i thought that the "amazing" resident evil 2(on pc) was one of the clunkiest, dated, awkward game i had ever played...

Obscure the aftermath is easy, short, not scary(like most of the survival horror imo) and has really bad made cut scenes, but i like the american college setting(both obscure games are a sort of parody of american horror movies with teenagers) and the multiple characters each one with his/her own ability(one is strong and can push/pull some object, one can climb, one understands codes and another can hack).
It's not the best survival horror/game out there, but it's really unique imo.

At the beginning i didn't like silent hill origins because but then i sort of liked it.
Sh origins is more "survival horror" than obscure, it probably is a little longer and harder(but just a little) and probably it's the better game(but the weapons management is pure shit and totally break the atmosphere), but i like (both)obscure more.

Going from P4G to P3P isn't bad at all. It's not like going from P4 to P3, that's horrible. P3P uses a lot of the mechanics from P4. P3P is gimped however. The biggest thing is the world map is point and click. No roaming at all except in dungeons. Cut scenes turned into regular game graphics (from what I've played so far), and a visual novel feel since you don't see models in conversations a lot (social links).

Worth it for $10 dollars. Best version of P3 to me.

P3P is a a bad game, a horrible port and you don't want it, trust me do not buy that abomination of a port, the PSP version got contents cut, they changed the core Persona experience and changed many thing including the real time exploration and turned it to point and click bullshit which really kill the feel of the game and kill what make Persona the game we love, also they cut the awesome animated cutscenes and because of that they killed many big moments of the story (also I think the new intro suck balls) plus they add shitty top-down camera and downgraded the graphics.

people might tell you get it so we can get more Persona on Vita, but no do not listen to them, no one ever should buy that awful port and play a lesser Persona game. get a PS2 slim and P3FES(or PCSX2 with get a copy of P3PES and play it with nvidia Shield if you want a real P3 on portable)

This is a very hypocritical opinion, and I hope no one listens to it. The game is fine; no content of great importance was cut, plus they added another scenario with the female main character. All the other things they added make the game more user friendly and... wait for it... portable!

It's OK, no one listens to toto anyway.

The game IMO is really good, though you miss most of the anime cutscenes. But after playing P3P, I won't be able to return to the vanilla game. The possibility to not rely in that shitty partner AI is a big pro, especially in a game where you can be killed in one turn (and in P3 you can't restart in your current floor)

I still have to play the female side, but i'll wait a little.

Are there any Vita carrying cases out there that have room for the system AND its charging plug? Or at least room enough for a PS Vita Portable Charger?

P3's anime cutscenes didn't look particularly great anyway - Especially compared to Persona 4's.

I mean, the character appearances in the cutscenes don't match their VN portraits well at all, everything's way too fuzzy, and I could go on and on. Persona 4's cutscenes match damn near perfectly with what's seen in-engine.

Yes, they are so pale they're creepy in the anime cutscenes. In Golden they are really good. I think on of the reasons I couldn't stand seeing its anime a few days ago was because everything seemed a real downgrade for original art. Dojima looked really bad there.

Never got past the first few scenes but yeah, it sure is a looker on the PSP. Was pretty impressed.

I actually played the first one with a friend on Xbox. Might go back and play this one sometime soon.

Even a broken clock is right two times per day.
However, this is not one of them.

I saw a very misleading article claiming the new KZ patch added another 1 gb to the game size. The patch might be 1gb in size, but the game is no bigger after install.

There was also talk from GG Cambridge that they're trying to compress the file size down so digital is smaller, but they don't think they'll be able to get it smaller than 4gb total.

Got my first taste of Gravity Rush. Only a few minutes since I went for breakfast, but very interesting so far in terms of gameplay.

Except for Lisa. Usually you'll end it with that.

Gravity Rush is one of my personal GOTYs for 2012. I'm no trophy whore, but I'm proud I platted GR (incld all the DLC) in 2 months, 2 weeks, and 2 days :p

And as for Lisa, it was comming
Yukari, well it's a shame MC
became a door
Rise probably forgot about poor ol Protag when she started idoling again.

welp, I guess lovers don't win after all

Know where I can find one for a good price?

I got mine from amazon, but apparently that's not an option anymore. :(

Whens the next big indie game hitting the Vita? MineCraft?

Big in terms of branding or big in terms of actual quality?
Rogue Legacy is the next big one on my radar.

--

Not entirely Vita related, but that port of Mirror of Fate (HD) [which SHOULD have been ported to Vita too], that's coming 10/29, right?
So I could buy that to put a dent in my spend $50 get $10 totals?

Quality wise is there anything big coming out this year?

Buy Ys seven frost

You aren't getting Batman frost? It's releasing on the 25th.
Overall the hype seems to be non-existing for the game, we don't even have a OT :(

Is this the first time that a Vita game from a major publisher is releasing on a Friday? I've never seen this happen before.

Every. Single. Time. I try to download anything, anything at all, the store freezes. Not even the trick where you turn wifi off works anymore. This is beyond garbage.

I was getting lock-ups very frequently, to the point I was putting stuff on the Vita to download via the online store. I have noticed though, that this has greatly decreased since I got a new modem with a stronger WiFi signal. I can't recall having a single lock-up in the almost 2 months since I got the new one. It might not work for everyone, but try getting closer to your router when about to start downloading.

I won't buy Arkham Blackgate until I buy and complete Arkham Origins, since Blackgate is an epilogue/continuation of the Origins story.

Minecraft (maybe? PS4 yes, but do we have a 2013 date on Vita?)
Luftrausers
Terraria
Bit Trip Runner 2

Those are the only ones that I can think off off the top of my head that *should* release this year.

And no to Ys 7. I already own enough Ys games that I haven't played. :P

That's what I use and I love it. Being able to carry four games with you on the go is nice

Haha, and that's only the pouch for the Vita itself, not the rest of the case. ;)

Funny thing on SCEJ store I download over 5 demos and not a single lock up.

"SCEA Quality"

My vita is normally about 10 feet from my router with full bars and it makes no difference. When the Vita decides to lock up on this, it just does it. In my experience the Wi-Fi signal strength has not been a factor.

One of my original thoughts was that having background apps running sometimes screwed up the downloads, but I hadn't been able to find the exact trigger (and wasn't about to debug it on purpose. I want to play my Vita, not lock it up. ;) )

Ill ask again bc i dont think anyone answered or saw it before. Do 2000 owners get the download bug?

Off-topic - in gaf i used to able to see if someone replied to your post on the subscription page iirc and it went away. Does this still exist and if so where? Btw im not talking about the highlight and you see it if you happen to scroll though the thread.

That feature was removed due to too much extra server strain I believe.

I used to get it all the time on my Black 1000. Then I got my Red 1000 with video-out and swapped accounts - my Japanese account went on my Black 1000, my American account went on the Red 1000, and I haven't had the problem once since.

To see if someone's replied to you, I just use the search function for my username and have the results shown as posts, rather than threads.

Good luck frost, I'm eagerly waiting to hear how you fair with the final boss.

Been too afraid to try again. Had one hell of a battle on the plane ride back
I still think mine is bugged, literally the shield went down for 1 second quite a few times, impossible with the time constraint.
Need to watch that video omega linked still.

I don't remember which weapons I was using for the twins I'm afraid, lots of dashing iirc.

-nice tip Takao!

Yup, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the VA in P4, unless you're a complete weeb who only listens to Japanese tracks and yet can't tell if the Japanese acting is bad or not.

The Japanese voice acting is amazing. It's probably one of the best performances I've heard.

The new final boss is worse than the old final boss?
