New Ryse: Son of Rome story trailer [new footage]

just noticed you can actually see his cheeks bouncing

it's not bouncing, it's pulsating. As if his heart was inside his mouth

a bit silly if you ask me

Well, if it's NOT being published by Microsoft themselves then it certainly will end up on other platforms, like Titanfall. If published by Microsoft though, no petition is going to have any effect.

It's a Microsoft published game, it's first party. Not gonna come to PS4

I might be alone on this but....I quite enjoyed Too Human.

Nope, with all of it's many flaws Too Human is one of may favorite games of this generation. But I don't think MS had much to do with it. Denis doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would have allowed outside help. I think if MS would have been more involved Too Human would have been a different game. It would have been play-tested more thoroughly and polished. But, I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed as much. Part of the game's charm is how different it is from everything else out there.

I'm getting a similar feeling from Ryse. The combat looks rough but they seem to be trying to make something new out of it. Personally I would take a chance on something new than refined play mechanics of an already established series. It's the reason why games like Dead Rising 3 just don't have me that excited for the next gen. Plus they mentioned how the game acknowledges and even rewards you for better play. I lap that shit up with a biscuit.

If you were able to get rid of the Valkyrie parts it would have gone from 6 or 7 to like an 8.

If you were better at the game it wouldn't have bothered you that much ;)

Open world with parkour elements.

Yea, it could be a third person, open world Titanfall if the traversal possibilities displayed in the trailer are actually a thing in real gameplay.

Probably will end up on PC like Alan Wake and Fable 3. Same for dr3.

The television show part of the equation may make Quantum Break a game that is far less likely to ever see a PC release. Remedy indicated to a great extent that there's no way this game happens without Microsoft, so this may be a more different partnership than was the case for Alan Wake, and almost certainly compared to whatever deal is in place with Dead Rising 3.

If you only saw it 5 times it was 4 times to many! The fact that you couldn't skip that cinematic was grade a bull shit. Stopped halfway through a second play-through because of that damn Valkyrie.

I'm not sure who owns the IP, but Microsoft's involvement is huge.

“This is clearly a strategic move for them as well as us. This is something – we have crazy ideas – but we need to fall back and let the full force of a company like Microsoft see it through,” Myllyrinne told GamesIndustry.

“There’s no way on God’s green Earth that we would take on a venture like this on our own. We might have the appetite but there’s no way we could.

How does someone get that good so quickly at a game? Or silly me, I'm forgetting that the game is on a lower level of difficulty?

It may sound cocky, but I'm certain I would absolutely kill it in this game. :)

That's easily one of the most skilled and competent Ryse players I've ever seen touch the game. Also, the multiplayer build has come quite a ways. It looks significantly better than it ever has in that video. Don't think there was a single bug present.

It's around 30 seconds. I don't get how it bothered people so much. But then again the last character I ran didn't die until I had 50+ hours in. But I do remember the first time I did my second play through being pretty rough.

i hope so. if crytek wants us to play the multiplayer, they better do things like customizable weapons and characters or something. Not just barebones stuff because its a launch title
Customizable swords and shields? First I've heard of that. Anyway, there is customization in multiplayer, and there is more than just a sword and shield.

Ravi Sinha: Is Ryse primarily centered on hack and slash gameplay, or will we other gameplay elements? Maybe turret sequences where you take control of a catapult yourself or something along those lines?

Mike Read: The primary focus is indeed on the hack and slash style of gameplay, but there are some other elements like the utilization of pilums in combat, testudo formations, archers, etc… In addition, there are other weapons that the player will be able to interact with throughout the single player campaign and multiplayer.

is all its going to be just sword with shield?

where's two handed weapons? two swords? pikes? after playing dark souls seeing this does nothing for me

I'm with you on that. This new footage does nothing for me either. It just reinforces what I thought before: the combat model is just too janky/bizarre. I still don't understand how they got the animations so wrong.

Graphics are awesome, though.

Not sure why those graphics come as a surprise, Ryse has been the bestlooking nextgen title since E3. But back then talk about QTEs was more important to many. Ryse is THE reason to get an X1, even if only as a graphical showpiece. Any word yet if it has 3D modes like the last three Crytek games?

I agree the chubby cheeks looks unnatural and it would look better in removing it. However, they may be doing it on purpose to portray a greedy arrogant character to mock him for artistic purposes.

That cheek bouncing looks... not good, really un-natural, as if someone was playing around with picture deforming software on a PC trying to stretch the cheeks out.

I think its cool even if its unrealistic...it's something that gives me that "oh next gen is here" kind of feeling. That character model is impressive to me ..WITH the bouncing cheeks lol
