Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

I gope we get soon new infos on Danganronpa release for the west,my most anticipated Vita title next year at moment

Im 60 hours in

I'm 40 hours in. Summer has just ended, but there are a bunch of awesome moments through August. Still, I think that
this month, without anything related to the TV, is probably a little more boring. It's still good, but I feel I don't have any motive to go to the TV world right now. I'll probably go there for some train / complete quests though.

Edit: Top of the page! Buy Persona 4 Golden, buy KZ: Mercenaries, Dragon's Crown and Tearaway!

There is absolutely NO reason to ever go to the TV world without it being your intent to rescue someone on that day. You can do grinding/training/quests at that time and thus maximize your slink activities in the normal world instead of killing an afternoon and an evening.

Does anyone NOT like Spelunky? Tried the demo a whole heck of a lot and it just isn't clicking. This is coming from someone who usually likes roguelikes and thinks this type of game is right up his alley.

So hard to pull the trigger...

I'm sure there are people who it didn't click with. There are a couple of dedicated threads for it with some amazing newbie hints and general strategies. Check those out and have another go.

I'd never played a rogue-like before the year 2013, but along with FTL, Spelunky is an absolute classic in my book (regardless of them being indie). Not sure what it is you were hoping to get out of it, or why it's not clicking with you, but I guess it's not for everyone.

The demo didn't click for me either. I must be missing something, the perma-death thing that's hailed as its strong point is precisely what put me off.

Yes, I feel the same way with dungeons. I usually end them in 2 days (and I prefer rainy days because most S.Link are disabled. Everymonth there is a day or two when it rains but the fog didn't appear.

One of the reasons is that using the Fox for healing is veeery expensive, and I don't want to spend all my SP recovery items. The first day I go to older dungeons for quests, and go through the first half of the dungeon and the second one I just finish it.

Bad ports or something?

S-E's PSX games, namely Final Fantasy, are not optimized for 50 Hz and are VERY slow, which is worse with FF9 since that game is slow to begin with.
If you like Platformers, the Crash and Spyro games are Vita compatible and are optimized for 50 Hz, meaning they play as close to the speed of their NTSC counterparts as much as possible.

S-E's PSP games are OK though, but Final Fantasy Tactics PSP has slowdown during spell casting, but nothing game breaking.

Buh?! What the hell.

Zero, why didn't you warn me...

Skyzard, don't highlight this.

Rebirth Story 2 spoilers
What in the hell? Mad Queen 2 on crack cocaine? How the hell am I supposed to deal with this shit? She's just about immortal as far as I can tell. :\

I'm not sure I'd say the death mechanic is a strong point, but it IS a core mechanic and required for the game to be what it is. What didn't you like about the deaths? A game is so short and getting back into the action is so quick that, rather than being a barrier to progress, each death teaches you a little bit more about how not to die.

I'm saying this as someone who is terrible at the game (seriously, I have no idea when I might be able to even "complete" it), but adores it.

Votes are now being taken for next month's Game of the Month! I'm posting this slightly earlier than Noi usually does so there is more time to tally up votes.

Please note the following guidelines for voting:

  • Votes must be PMd to me no later than the 30th of this month.
  • You may vote for up to 5 games.
  • You may vote for any game released up until the last PS Store update of this month, including those released in previous months. Retail, digital-only and PlayStation Mobiles are all eligible.
  • Games are awarded a point value ranging from 5 to 1 based on order of preference. If you don't provide a numeric order, I will assume the order you list them in is your order of preference.
  • Any votes for games previously awarded GotM will be disregarded. Please refer to this list for previous winners.
Choose wisely and happy voting!

Has to be Tearaway :)
This fall is great for my Vita starting with Rayman Legends and Killzone: Mercenary, although it surely has something to do with us Europeans getting Dragon's Crown and Muramasa just now.
With Batman, Football manager and Tearaway still coming out this year next to several indie titles, I have enough games to play.

Oh c'mon, give us a hint...

The Alternate costume complete pack for SF X Tekken is free on the AU store at the moment. I don't know if that's right or not because all of the other packs still cost money.

It's a glitch ;)
Anyone with an EU account should check it out and grab the Alt. outfit DLC for the main cast as you also get the PS3 unlock code too.
Try to access the Store from the game for example.

Yesterday i finished the story of guacamelee, i have to say that i have not enjoyed it as much as the rest of you, there were some annoying platforming section and some annoying enemies, imo it felt really linear, almost like a sequence of levels that doesn't lock the access to the previous ones more than a real open metroidvania map.
Anyway the balls unlock an
alternative ending
right? Where do i find them? I have the
one of the chicken labyrinth and the one of the chicken mine, i need three more plus the one for beating calaca

It has a steep learning curve but once it grabs hold of you it doesn't let go. It's such a tight game mechanically that once you play it enough all your deaths will result in you saying "why the hell did I do that" instead of "omg bullshit".

Bought Hotline Miami, hadn't really been interested based on pictures and comments, but with the very tempting price in cross-buy sale I watched a video and it seemed I might enjoy it. After the first level it seems good.

There's one at the top of the tule tree, I believe you have to run up the tube to the right. Then there's one in the mountain area which you access with goat fly. Last one is in the forest, you need to use the lever and then goat fly
Fair warning though, two of those have quite difficult platforming sections, you will likely find them more annoying than anything else you have encountered thus far.

What the actual BLOODY FUCK.

Please tell me I am not seeing what I am seeing right now because my Vita currently automatically downloads an update for Killzone Mercenary and its a 1.1 GB file????????

Another Giga-byte update???

In another news, top of the page means recommendation to buy: ahhhhh Malicious Rebirth, NFS Most Wanted (thanks to you folks *not* buying it, we ain't getting another NFS on Vita :(((, and Dragon's Crown.

Hold the banana phone, NFS MW on vita is rough, let's be honest, I bought digital day one... The controls oversteer every car and there is not much difference between them, there are about 10 different races for all cars and all unlocks are the same. I don't know, if the next NFS is the same, then keep it and give me another arcadey racer. I am desperately looking for a new Vita designed racer...

Stick It To The Man will be available for the PS3 on November 19 in the US and 20th in Europe. Vita version will be released in mid-December. Cross-Buy, £9.99 / €12.99 /$12.99. Pre-orders will be up today on US PSN and tomorrow on EU PSN.

NFS: MW was a great disappointment for me. Not that the vita version is bad or something like that, but it failed to be the Burnout Paradise 2 that everyone wanted. Criterion dun goofed.

Played for 5 minutes and put in the rear end of my backlog.

NFS : MW was a pretty big disappointment on PS3, can't really picture enjoying it on Vita either. But apparently a lot of people do, and did.

Look forward to trying it when it hits PS+

It is mediocre at best and good when compared to ridge racer. Inner Toto has been channeled.
This I have to disagree on, as I'm sure many others will too. I haven't played the Vita RR, but judging from everyone elses experience, and my past experiences with the PSP & PS3 versions, I feel NFS blows RR out of the water.

Yea sure NFS is not native res, it's hard to see traffic and some of the cars handling is wonky, but it's still a blast. Not to mention the very buggy AI, and odd race setups (I once got a rolling start to a race going the wrong way, 4 streets over...), but I still love this game. If you have friends with it, online or IRL, setting matches up with them is a breeze. Also seeing their stats to beat while playing SP while connected to the servers is a great way to have high schores for everything built in to the game, with no pausing needed. Only time a pause is needed is for whn you are lookingn at the map. Everything else can be done on the fly, even mid race if you want.

RR is not a bad game by any means, I just don't see it having the "staying power" of an open world racer with the car roster of NFS. I enjoy them both, but I'd rather play NFS over RR any day.

I seriously enjoy NFS: MW on the Vita. It's not Paradise 2 but it very obviously wasn't trying to be and I forgive it for that.

Either Tearaway or Injustice.

It's gotta be Tearaway, as it's a dedicated Vita game.

If it were Amazing Spiderman I'd laugh. Unless it good.

Haha. :b
I didn't warn you because
I thought she was pretty easy. Beat her without the Malicious mode by getting to 9999 aura against the clone of yourself then using the fist square square square triangle combo. Of course you can only get one or two combos in before she counter attacks but as long as you keep in her face and dash away every other combo or so to avoid attacks, she might not even have time to summon those multiple clones.

Baron, sorry I think you misunderstood me, RR is not better than NFS, NFS is only good when compared to RR on the platform, just my opinion. It was a bland and rough controlled racer.

Which is a damn shame.

So we all should skip it.

I've read in the Media Create thread that Toukiden has shipped almost 500k copies. That's... pretty good for a new IP, right?

A sequel, or a 1.5 expansion is a given. Now we need to buy the game for or shiny Vitas and show Tecmo some interest.

Yep, it's quite an impressive number, and I am guessing it doesn't even count the digital downloads, so it could easily have surpassed the 500k sales.

Raises my expectations even more for God Eater's 2 opening.

GE2 has online over adhoc party (meh). They have hinted at patching it in (a la Rag Odyssey) but if they go that route hopefully they will be quick about it.

Ys is likely to make December.

XSeed is doing everything they can to still bring it out in 2013, but seems there might be some things in some part of the localization/publishing process that's still making this aim uncertain.

Well, Falcom's all-out rush to get Sen no Kiseki out in Japan by it's September 26th date meant that no one could be spared to program the English text into Ys. Now that Sen has wrapped up, things should be good from here on out (as manifested by the first English screens releasing a few days ago).
