Ryse is a game made in the same vein as God of War Linear corridor game. It is doing nothing special. It should not be mentioned in the same breath of games like Battle Field 4 or Killzone Shadow Fall, both of which are doing more at a higher fidelity with large battle fields.

I know it is certainly capable of better, given those games. It's that a developer so closely tied to the Xbox brand is having issues and the reports of the OS crashing the system when pushed. I take that as a sign that more multiplat developers could indeed run into trouble down the road. We already know it's weaker and the RAM solution is not optimal. It is simply looking like it is harder to develop for and multiplats might suffer when they try to crank them up to par.

I wouldn't worry about an overheating issue at all.

There were people talking about the Xbone being hot, and CBOAT's latest posts talked about 'hw issues', and 'risks everywhere' wrt the upclocks.

And given how thoroughly MS have cocked up every aspect of the Xbone so far, is it beyond the realm of possibility that the engineering sucks too?

I'm not worried about overheating issues because I'm not buying an Xbone.

my expectation for x1 is that it's going to be a more rounded experience in terms of intergated services - the OS sounds like it's built to be as fast as possible which may mean that gaming performance doesn't match the PS4 but they'll be playing to the "x1 is the everything box!" side of things and, as much as i like 1080P over 720P, most consumers aren't going to care about that difference - the price difference is likely to be more of a factor.

the PS4 sounds like it's built purely with gaming performance in mind.

While it's true that the 7770 is capable of running COD in 1080p60 (as MW3 and BLOPS 2 have shown us), I think it shows the Xbox One isn't as balanced as MS have touted. Let me break it down for you.

1. The ESRAM is a pain in the neck to program for.
2. 32MB framebuffer size may not be enough for 1080p.
3. 16 ROPS in the GPU is restrictive for 1080p.

Thus, 1080p is a hard task for the Xbox One.

If the second one works as an example I gave in another thread, then it may be a problem.
Basically a 1amp fuse=esram, governing a 2amp current load=1080p frame buffer higher than 32 megs. Not sure if the analogy fits. Skeff? Anyone, care to correct me?

This is really hard to believe though.
