It's just one kick in the dick after another today.

So do you think that all third party games will be native 1080p on the PS4? How will Sony HQ handle it if it's not? How will you?
What in the fuck? This is what I responded to...
hey Albert ,

If native 1080p is non noticeable , why make FORZA 1080p native?

Tell those poor souls at turn 10 they are wasting time and resources.
Pretty much what I wanted to say. Well I would not have put it so bluntly, but I guess your way is more effective.
Neither beast nor I said any thing about all PS4 games being native 1080p. We just think that Penello's comment are kind of ironic considering that MS trumpets Froza being 1080p every chance they get.

Man these threads crack me up. Well done on the Nickelback gif.

I'm not going to convince anyone differently, but it's funny how people interpret the tweet as confirmation.

First - I don't know the resolution. I don't have more sophisticated tools than anyone else. I watch the game on a nice TV with the XBO set to 1080p for every game, there is no way for me to know what's native vs. upscaled unless I'm told.

Second, if I did know, it wouldn't be my place to say anything.

If the Ryse footage last week showed me anything, it's that you get a much more interesting discussion when you're looking at real footage.

So now I've seen the PS4 footage, and I've seen XBO running live. To me, they both look great.

The resolution will be what it will be. It will be known when Activision wants it to be known. The only thing I was curious about was if the games look different, and based on the assets available to me, they don't.

So I think when XBO footage comes out, and people can compare resolutions, effects, framerate and other things the debate will be more interesting.

All that doesn't come across in Twitter-sized bites.

Albert Penello, director of product planning for Microsoft, man of the people, just like the rest of us found out the hardware he helped design couldn't muster more than 720p for COD.
The man does not care what resolution the games run at as long as they run well. After all, why should the he who is involved in "physical Hardware, Dashboard/UI" planning concern himself with such trivial matters...

Now sit two feet back 2 or 3 feet back. It's very hard to tell the difference! Not defending the xbox 1 here, I just think a lot of people are giving too much importance to 1080p vs 720p on a tv. Does 1080p look better than 720p, of course it does. Does it make a huge difference to the majority of gamers? no

Is Xbox 1 fucked? yes! I think the power disparity is going to show in more important ways, ie Framerate, and Effects.

I'm viewing it from the distance I would normally sit while playing FPS games on this display.

The difference is absolutely staggering. If you seriously can put that image on ANY display and then sit at the distance you would normally sit while gaming on that specific display and tell me you don't notice any difference, you need a medical intervention for your vision. Get glasses if you don't already have them, get your prescription updated if you do, and consider LASIK because it's probably unsafe for you to be driving.

Well CBoat, I know which System I am etiiing.

We already know Titan Fall wasn't going to be 1080p...

I want to deny D: I want to say CBOAT and the rest are wrong. :( Xbox One is running Ghost at 1080p. Activision said so months ago! We've apparently seen footage! It's Call of Duty! Game isn't graphically intense like Battlefield, no way it can't run at 1080p... But... CBOAT is hardly wrong. :(

Damn the Xbox Fan is me is crying. :'( Guess it's a good thing I was buying Ghost on PS4 as well as on Xbox One. ;~;

Wonder where Infinity Ward fucked up. What problems are they having in development to make them have to lower their resolution? Is it the S-RAM?

God damn how is this even a thing. :(

Perhaps rumors of xbox one software difficulties were indeed true ? Sony has been hammering away on PS4 development since 2007 (on the hardware side) and it's pretty well known that it's much easier to make a game for then the ps3 was, couple that with late last gen development techniques and you can obviously get a PS4 game up and running quickly and it'll look pretty good.

On microsofts side though I get this feeling that much of whats in the box was decided only 12 months ago and they've even done some last minute tweaks, the toolset for development must not be "there" yet , "there" being at a point where it's as easy as PS4 is to get running well. The tradeshow appearances of many xbox 1 games only getting up to par in the last month or 2 seems to attest to this.

Many on these boards have likely tried out that forza demo with it's well known aliasing errors. Perhaps xbox one is simply just a bit more rushed along then PS4 is ? As I've mentioned in a previous thread (I think it was the KI is 720p one) , dropping that resolution down from 1080p to 720p can result in a 25-30% performance boost. That's in FPS terms I should add. So if COD ghosts is indeed 720p, imagine if 3 weeks ago as development was coming down to the wire they were trying for 1080p but the framerate was hovering around 45-50. Certainly with 6 months to optimize it could probably be done but a decision had to be made, make it out day 1 and just leave it at 720p (where the framerate would hover around 60-70fps) or leave it in 1080p day 1 and have it noticeably run worse then PS4. Delaying wasn't really an option.

Finally, some of the many posters in this enormous thread are complaining about xbox 1 having trouble doing a cross gen title, well it's not as though it's just the 360 version on xbox1. If that were the case 60fps @1080p would have been no problem at all. The PC version set to "ultra/very high" , PS4 and XB1 version all use this direct X 11 preset that includes many higher detail models, better textures across the board and it's just overall a better looking game to begin with. The 360/ps3/wiiU versions are all closer to 720p/60fps or maybe 600p/60fps with details equal to a mix of medium and high PC settings. Level of detail will also suffer due to the lack of ram.

Ultimately the issue here if this rumor holds some weight is more so a question of why are we being sold a 499.99 new game console when the direct competitor is offering a better box for 399.99 ? This is exactly why I won't even consider buying an xbox one until after a price drop.

the game looks like ass.

both next gen consoles could run it at 1080p easily...no reason for them not to.

Maybe the ESRAM is more of an issue than what is being said? I just cannot fathom this bit of news and i believe it is indeed 100% real after a mod let the thread be after talking to someone via pm. I cannot think of no other reason besides the OS being buggy and the fact that dev's are having major issues with the ESRAM being a major hurdle compared to PS4 straight forward unified ram. This is a VERY dated engine that was always fairly easy on the hardware imho.

Come on dude shit's uncalled for. We can disagree with the message on its merits without essentially saying "we don't want your kind around here."

Dude is doing his job and it's obviously not an enviable position in a community of hardcore gamers who scrutinizes things like this when you have a system in this position. I'm not saying that makes his posts better or worse or anything, but I am saying we don't need to grab the pitchforks. Just disagree on the terms.

If Titanfall and CoD can't run at 1080P on the Xbone what are the odds of more graphically demanding multiplatform shooters hitting that mark?

oh wow, just when I thought this thread couldn't get any better, CBOAT drops a bomb...and the we part in his quote...*shivers*
