RUMOUR: Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts is 720p, PS4 version is 1080p?

The worst part is I'm stuck with $160 dollars on my Xbox Live account and Xbox Live until 2015. Oh well. I'll just call it a loss for now, better than adding another 500 dollars to that.

Wow this is great, ha ha.

Suddenly the Drive Club delay does not seem so bad in the grand scheme of things.

I have to imagine this is just an issue with the current "tools" available to devs. I remember hearing they hard not refined them at all... and Sony had their tools ready and available. That is what the 6+ month delay was about that leaked a couple months ago.... at least I think. I believe the Xbox One is completely capable of doing 1080p (as well as the PS4); However currently the only game that has been confirmed 1080p (Forza) is a first party with direct access to the tools Microsoft is refining as they refine them..... all the 3rd party games (Ryse, COD) seem to be limited in resolution... (potentially do to this fact?)

That is my guess anyway. Still sucks, but I believe it will get better after launch. (Perhaps not 1:1 as the GPU is still weaker than the PS4, but multi platform games may narrow)

It's MS's highest selling, and synonymous titles. Before it was "you want to play CoD, go 360 or gtfo" and this was relatively true.

Now, add in that Titanfall is 720p, along with all the Battlefield 4 nonsense, and you can see where this is going.

It's not all just because of CoD, because, well, from the footage seen today, it really doesn't look that good at all. No amount of P's will save it. That series needs a new engine.

Where is it going exactly? Will people who enjoyed 360 no longer buy Xbox One because CoD in 720p on the console? Is that what is being insinuated here?

We already had a thread that pretty much pointed to Titanfall not being 1080p, but it's pretty lame to see it come to fruition.

Maybe the ESRAM is more of an issue than what is being said? I just cannot fathom this bit of news and i believe it is indeed 100% real after a mod let the thread be after talking to someone via pm. I cannot think of no other reason besides the OS being buggy and the fact that dev's are having major issues with the ESRAM being a major hurdle compared to PS4 straight forward unified ram. This is a VERY dated engine that was always fairly easy on the hardware imho.

eSRAM is a miserable hack to accommodate for slower RAM. eSRAM also wastes a huge hunk of the die on the SOC so you end up with a weaker GPU. Sony gambled and won on GDDR5. Microsoft are kicking themselves now for used the same old hack from the 360 and PS2 eras.

Dude, CBOAT stop! We love your bombs and transparency on what's actually happening but you're going to get caught at this rate. We need you for years to come!

While this is sure to become a huge deal if true, I will say that I would much rather have 720p/60fps than 1080p/30fps if I had to choose between the two. Obviously 1080/60 is killer, but I'll take a resolution drop to keep framerate up, ESPECIALLY for fast-pased/twitch games.

Every time I see that gif I think it's a cheese ball stuck on his cheek and have to remind myself it's his microphone. I don't know why, but I just can't get over the fact that it looks like he rolled out of bed with a cheese doodle stuck to his cheek...

Translation for people who do not speak CBOAT.

He acutally responded directly to following comment by Penello, which I think is a first and also kind of confirms that CBOAT works for MS.
The resolution will be what it will be. It will be known when Activision wants it to be known.

We arl rdaedy know.
Titfall also.
not cooll2 hodl back on tstuff we acnt interact r tel truaths with, evnev if itns the job to obs>ffducate.

translaperncy is berter when dealing wtih this positition. whataev er tho
We already know.

TitanFall also. It is not cool to hold back on stuff we can interact and tell truth (he mean gafs). Even if it is the (our or Penello's) job to obfuscate.

Transparency is better when dealing with this situation. Whatever though.

All I had to do was read the title of this thread, to know it's gonna be some serious entertainment up in here. *eats popcorn*

It will be a huge shame if this is true.

I have to wonder if its less about the system specs and more about everything else going on, from what i have read over the last few months and seemingly gets backed up a lot is:

The drivers for the system have been behind for the longest time.
The system final specs have not been solidified until recently (over clocks etc).
The dev tool set was not as ready as the PS4's toolset.
The PS4 is rendering games faster on un-optimized code from just raw performance of the box.

That sort of news to me suggests a few things for myself, Forza, Ryse and Dead Rising are all coming together quite well and are all first party titles which have dedicated teams working only on XBO hardware. Now COD is a multiplatform title being coded for many different current and next gen systems so the code is mostly shared, now based on the fact the PS4 can push more performance and has a better toolset without specialized coding i bet its in better shape now and has been since they started porting it.

So if the XBO version is 900p or 720p im guessing its due to time constraints and lack of optimization of the hardware to get it ready for launch, might even explain the insane PC requirements for the title when it clearly does not seem to need it visually.

I sometimes look at stuff like this how i did the 360 launch, like for example Perfect Dark that ran native 720p with AA (i believe?) framerate as that was what MS promised was the base coming into that gen and the game was 'ok' performance wise but had a huge floaty feeling that i assume came from the VSync and it looked ok simply not a great overall looking game. Then soon after almost no games where rendering at 720p native to keep a decent frame rate I have to wonder how long any system will keep a 1080p render in the long run.

Here is the absolute truth as I know it. I''ve posted this before and I think people took it as my opinion but it's not my opinion, it's the thoughts of people who know.

In february Sony shocked the fuck out Microsoft with both the console and timing of their console. Of course no time was given... but it was obvious that it was this year. MS was looking for a release between this fall and next spring (and any engineer here can tell you that means next spring).

Microsoft never recovered from that.

Here they are with a console sooner than they planned. It's in less countries, it has dick for Kinect support, basic shit like USB harddrives are pushed until next year, the messaging has been a mess.

Kinda sounds like they rushed it. Doesn't it?

That's not to say everything sony has done is perfect... in fact they've fucked up quite a few times... but microsoft has dropped the ball so many times that no one cares about Sony's fuck ups.

If this is true then the ps4 will still have a higher resolution then 720 and still be 60fps. That is the point, this thread is showing how bad the Xbone really is.

Well I just sped through the last 5 or so pages of this thread and this seems like one of the few non completely batshit crazy posts. People making a big deal out of this are really out of touch with reality and how much 720p and 1080p matters to the casual gamer. Or did we forget so quickly about the wii...

This stuff is madness.
