Rumor: Titanfall also 720p?

everyone playing it says its game of the show, does it matter?

No, it doesn't matter for the VAST majority of people, but you know we aren't the vast majority, lol. Plus, I mean, it IS common knowledge that 1080p is better for REAL reasons (clarity), so it's not as if it's a non-point.

Uh, uh, now, eventually you do plan to have 1080p games... on your, on your 1080p console, right? Hello? H-Hello. Yes?

So did you just steal this from the other thread or are you the person that posted it in the other thread?

If you're the latter that's cool, but if its the former, ehhhh

You say that like being superior to a near eight year old system is a notable achievement.

Well Xbox One games appear to be running at the same resolution as most Wii U games, and that thing is considered by many to be running like an 8 year old console. I don't blame people for expecting more from an actual next gen Xbox.

I guess this what Cboat means when the launch will be a mess. There's a possibly that the devkit for the Xbox One just isn't where it's supposed to be.

It probably is possible to get 1080p in many of the games available for launch (Ryse, COD:G) but with Microsoft rushing to get the system out, I can imagine it is a fucking clusterfuck over there at Microsoft.

And don't get me started on marketing, where Microsoft is surprisingly way behind Sony's efforts. It just shows that everything is fucking rushed. This is pretty bad.

Don Mattrick has to be glad he got the hell out of this shit storm before the
RMS TitanicXbone totally sank.

He essentially steered them into a storm and then said to the first mate, "Here you take it from here. Yoink!" and then Poochied himself up to Zynga.

This is actually perfect since that's exactly what happened

mortimer was all "I have to confirm a source"; he never could. Two other insiders decide to confirm it out loud. Then Albert posts in that topic; then cboat rebuffs him. Now this Titanfall news is all over the place

this could not have worked out more poorly for the good people who just want to get the Xbox One out launched already without any more issues...
This is why I don't think Albert should respond to stuff here. I doubt cboat would have posted if he hadn't, and if he hadn't this thread probably wouldn't exist.

I appreciate that someone like him from MS posts here, I just don't think it's in their best interest.

I'm surprised at all the people saying they didn't expect 1080p from Titanfall, a game running on the Source Engine without time contraints of trying to get a game ready for launch on barely ready hardware.

Unless that is the acceptance stage that XBO will have quite a bit of 720p...

If XBO is supposed to be capable of 1080p (or even 4K resolution as they've advertised), surely a Source Engine game with enough development time can reach it...

As much as I'm enjoying the drama tonight - and I am, these boards are amazing sometimes - as usual GAF is vastly overestimating the impact of resolution on the average consumer. Brand loyalty will be powerful with casual XBO fans, of whichever there are many.

Now marketing problems + launch OS stability issues + rushed hardware is another story. That could be an actual problem, and much more worthy of the megaton news that the 720p'ness (lol) is getting. If XBO is gonna have a problem with these things, I'd reckon the pattern would be very strong upfront sales and rapid taper off due to negative word of mouth from those issues.

Yes, Zynga. A step up from absolute hell. Which hell is Zynga again?

Wait... Pretty sure he doesn't care. If he can turn the company around, it's all good. If he can't? If he is as good at negotiating as he is, then he has a golden parachute that the rest of us would be jealous of.

Doesn't matter to us, but it kinda matters to MS.

If Xb1 version of the game is still noticeably inferior from the definitive Pc version, it might impact the desire to pick up a next-gen console solely for Titanfall.

This news won't reduce Titanfall sales, but it may impact the system selling potential of it, which is a big deal for MS.

lol this is a silly question

Remember how they acted like the PC version may have problems because it didn't have the power of the cloud like xbox one? I'm sure even my PC can run it better than xbox one's at a much higher resolution. No cloud here.

Yeah, I agree.

The amount of people who will pick up a PS4 over a XB1 because of 1080p vs 720p is miniscule.

The amount of people who will pick up a PS4 over a XB1 because they check gaming news websites and ask their friends and end up with the narrative "well the PS4 versions look better" won't be.

Not that COD or Titanfall look that impressive but... I'd rather have an amazing looking 720p/900p game than an ok looking 1080p game. Resolution doesn't mean everything, certainly not with videos either, netflix 1080p doesn't hold a candle to blu-rays at 720p.

Imagine Crysis 3 at Low on 1080p vs Ultra at 720p. Obviously if you could have Ultra at 1080p that would be preferable and if PS4 did that, it would be the superior version. However, I think everyone needs to stop complaining so much about devs shooting for lower than 1080p (specifically for both versions), there are tradeoffs that need to be made in order to hit that.

There is a pretty big difference from 720 to 900, especially on a big screen. I'm just praying that BF4 on PS4 isn't 720p.

This isn't a home-run by itself, but when it's added to a large resolution difference on a cheaper console and most of the hardcore people and social media talking mad shit about Microsoft's complete fumble of so many features of this console, while Sony is all juiced up like Mark McGuire attempting to break the home run record for next gen with a WAY better advertising campaign and less confusing name/marketing, it all adds up to a major problem.

Yep, people are freaking out about something that means nothing to the masses. And in the process over-looking Proelite's real newsworthy statement/leak. If we'd focused on that, perhaps Cboat and Albert would have commented on that instead.

The general consumer won't know or care what resolution Titanfall is rendered at, they'll only care which console it is on. Tying it up as timed console exclusive is the smartest thing MS have done.
