RUMOUR: Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts is 720p, PS4 version is 1080p?

This is just great. So I can either have the games I like (Halo, Forza, Killer Instinct) or the more powerful system that is $100 cheaper.

I prefer the XBOX

- Controller
- Games (titles, not resolutions)
- XBOX Live
- OS

I prefer the PS

- Graphics Capabilities
- Price

This is why the XBOX division has disappointed so many since E3. Never before has XBOX been weaker than the competition. So now I have to either join the ecosystem I like less to get better multiplats or I can stay in the ecosystem I prefer and deal with the fact that I'll be playing all my shit at a lower resolution.

This is the most diplomatic I can make my mini meltdown. In my head there is a lot more cursing.

So which Xbox exclusives? The only one I cared about when I owned a 360 was Gears and Mass Effect and eventually the entire series of Mass Effect came to the PS3. I now own the entire collection in one package... lol.

Also, you haven't held the PS4 controller yet so it may surprise you that you like or even prefer it. Also, you sign up for PS+ you free games monthly.

You people need to let of brands. I go where the games are and last gen PS3 did better IMO and it wasn't even close we're talking about the great exclusives. If I cared for the Halo series as much as I care for Smash Bros, things would be different, but I don't. You be disappointed. Just let it go, lol.

EDIT: Why are you listing things like OS and and Live. I think both companies have changed that up a bit unless you know enough about every detail of what you would enjoy.

While I generally prefer Sony's first party, I have really been warming up to the Xbox One launch exclusives lately. But there is just too much (never ending) baggage, it's quite noticeably weaker and at $500? Just no way. Those games can wait until it's cheaper.

GAF, cboat, mortimer - thank you all for the wonderful bedtime entertainment. I'm out for the night but can't wait to catch up in the morning.

Ok guys, slow your roll.

Did he ever pay that dude the dollar bet he lost?

Why, when he was completely right? The eSRAM was the additional hardware that gives the Xbone more performance.
Negative performance, that is.

What the fuck, this can't be real. My HD6850 is more capable than Xbox One's GPU? That's insane.

Muh 6850 nigga (man i need to upgrade)

This sums up my feelings too... Been struggling with this since E3

I can't believe it's the second HD gen (third if you count how The first Xbox had some 720p games) and MS is still releasing another system that can't handle playing games in a TV's native res (barring old 720p TVs like mine). Way to not future proof your system.

pretty desperate. I was so confused for a second when I saw the title
How is it not relevant? At least it had a source. I considered starting a new thread since this one moves so fast but saw that there was already one for that news back then.

More tales from reddit:

I've never really looked at that site before. Almost every poster in that thread needs to be banned for quality control!

We have the following:

Extreme Playstation fanboys
People who claim they can't tell 720p apart from 1080p
A Microsoft employee who has one of the worst PR answers I've seen in my life
Assorted mindlessness

I doubt it. Microsoft's developers have nothing on Sony's developers when it comes to pushing out more better graphics for their games (like Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, & Santa Monica).

Did you quote the wrong person? I'm trying to understand what Sony's great 1st party has to do with whether or not Halo 5 will look nice.

Price is really the only resounding negative of the system. Being the middle console power wise is not that big of a knock when it comes to the mass consumer.

Right, it's when compounded with being less powerful but a full $100 more expensive that is going to be really damaging. They're going to sell XB1s, no doubt, people who like those exclusives will buy it regardless, it's those on the fence, in-betweeners that MS may lose here that is the real issue.

Anyways, also, I don't think CBOAT came in to save Famous_M, I think it was a chance meeting, kind of like when Chuck Norris showed up in The Expendables 2.

Now all we need is the Battlefield 4 thing to come clean on used resolutions/framerate/etc and all hell will break loose.

More tales from reddit:

Heh, someone from reddit talking about mindlessness.

I have nothing against anyone wanting an XB1 (owned both consoles this gen) but man, some of you might want to wait for MS to iron some things out. This is clearly a rush job.

I'm just going to grab an Xbox One control once the drivers hit and stay on PC for most stuff. Hopefully Destiny eventually makes it's way to PC. Though I'll probably break and buy a PS4 when it comes out.

I just pictured mort and cboat as Shawn michaels and triple H. DX damn that theme song just pop to mind while gaffers doing the suck it sign Jesus crazy times folks

Those who say the X1 is rushed, do you think most consoles aren't rushed? With what happened to driveclub, maybe PS4 is being rushed also. Easy to speculate and make up rumors, wish that stopped.

We didn't make up these rumors, more reliable sources did. And all consoles are "rushed" in some way, but this isn't a situation of "rushed". This is a situation of underestimating how much processing power next gen would carry and how much money Sony, who is in a dire financial situation, was able to devote to providing a powerful gaming console. In comparison, XBO looks extremely rushed and game spec reductions within a month from launch is not just a simple "oh the console is rushed and we should be lenient". Not when the cheaper competition is getting games out at 1080p.

So the PS4 video card is equivalent to a radeon 7850 and the Xbone to a radeon 7770? This game is the most played series on the 360, this would be a major loss for them if true.

This is exactly how I feel. I owned an og xbox and loved it, I owned a 360 and loved it, and I originally had an xb1 on pre-order (even with all the crappy drm). But after hearing about stuff like this, I switched thinking that if the xb1 turned out not so bad I could sell the ps4, wait a few months for more shipments, and buy an xb1. After hearing more about the power difference, I thought I would just own both of them eventually. But after hearing that COD can't even hit 900p on the xb1, I just don't know......

This has to be partially on the dev side though. BF4 on xb1 is 720p, 60fps,64 player online, and it looks significantly better than cod:ghosts. I'm guessing IW just underestimated how long optimization would take and decided to drop the resolution to get it out in time. I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't be running at 900p or above.

Sounds like a solid plan. If I owned a PC I'd do the same.

Neither should new hardware then. They can stick to current gen if neither framerate or resolution or anything else improved by new hardware matters.

Completely unrelated to what I said. Console power has never determined the sales leader for a generation, especially early on. The PSone, the PS2 and the Wii were all demonstrably less capable pieces of hardware than their direct competitors, but it was the library and the marketing behind them that mattered. The vast majority of the consumer base, the people who make COD the megahit it is and who will flock to one system or the other to put it over the top sales-wise, wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you held a gun to their head.

It only matters to hardcore enthusiasts like the people who post here and the console warrior subset of said hardcore enthusiasts. It's a pretty big thing (if true) as far as that goes, yes, but there are a lot of posts treating it as though it's some kind of silver bullet to the heart of the Xbone and that's simply not the case.

Dude it was four months old and had already been brought up in this thread multiple times.

Where is it going exactly? Will people who enjoyed 360 no longer buy Xbox One because CoD in 720p on the console? Is that what is being insinuated here?
Some certainly will.

'Dude, why are you getting the shitty version?'

You really can't see this happening? I certainly can. This reminds me of when the XBox One's DRM news came out, and people kept claiming 'The casual COD player won't care about that, no one outside GAF gives two shits about that stuff...'

You can set your watch to Gies being wrong about something gaming related.
I picture both him and Pachter agreeing to meet up for a beer after a convention, and both waiting around for each other in the wrong bar.

This is exactly how I feel. I've pre-ordered both consoles but I'm much more excited for everything I can actually do with the Xbox. I really only want the PS4 for the promise of what Naughty Dog can do on it and maybe the odd non-terrible Sony exclusives.

Yes a huge fanboy who owns every console/handheld, sorry I'm not a cool kid xbox hater. Also it's really rich when someone who hates a console, calls someone else a fanboy.

This actually reads like a textbook astroturfer response. Not saying you are one, just pointing out the irony. It's quite humorous. Heh.

I don't suppose it's worth noting that this makes absolutely zero difference to 90+% of the console buying public?
On the surface you'd be 100% correct but this is about so much more then COD, this is the kind of thing that raises significant concerns about the viability of the One as a next gen console as a whole; which is what will sway us early adopters and if we predominantly choose the PS4 and or just opt out of the beginning of the gen leaving the One in a massive hole guess what the most popular console will garner the attention of more casuals especially with a $100 smaller price tag.
