It was impossible for the debut trailer to show clips running directly from XboxOne. I think the system not existing makes a strong point for my case. Same thing for Driveclub and Deep Down at the Playstation meeting in February. We will see how the games turn out when the games are released, I mean damn, I remember Killzone 2, I don't think I will ever forget that case.
fix the fucking online. unplayable since 2k5
Let's put it this way: if Sony's as broke as people keep joking they are, why would they waste money on 3rd parties to only show PS4 games at demo events?
Answers to both: 1, they aren't that broke and 2, it's a dumb useless tactic. The dev community aren't fools; they know which system has the good word of mouth and only want to associate publicly w/ said system, which is the PS4.
It's an effective Catch 22 now for MS unfortunately, but they've done this ultimately unto themselves, and if they had the power to dig themselves into this deep ditch, hopefully they have the power to dig themselves out of it, too.
You would think people would be starting threads about this and talking about the things that matter instead of the resolution wars we have lately, smh.
.
Do you have any link that showing only ps4 version of COD or NFS was some marketing deal?
this is the first time we've gotten a legit new engine
im crossing my fingers since the netcode should be overhauled

It is always interesting to see a narrative switch, Sony couldn't compete with MS in marketing dollars, but they sure are killing them in amount of money allotted to holding other next gen versions from public view,

Only past incidents to draw that theory from.Or the narrative that just because a game isn't being shown doesn't mean that it's somehow deficient.

Yes, it's in the same link showing the devs having months of concerns about xb1 trouble with dev tools.
In a report we published last month, several senior developers working with both consoles told us that PS4 was around 50 per faster than its rival, with the differences between the consoles’ performance “significant” and “obvious”. “Xbox One is weaker and it’s a pain to use its ESRAM,” concluded one developer.
Last week at Eurogamer Expo, we asked Phil Harrison, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business, if he had received similar feedback from developers working with both consoles.
“Well I think there’s a couple of things I would say, one is that every platform I’ve ever been involved in somebody has said ‘oh, this has got more gigaflops or more teraflops than the other one,’ and at the end of the day it never really matters,” he told us. “It’s all about having the best games and having the most impressive experiences, and clearly Xbox One has the best games. So that would be my first response.”
“The other is that any time that you ask a developer – including, by the way, our own internal studios – in the run up to launch of a console you’re going to get a slightly nuanced answer because the operating system’s not finished, the performance of the machine’s not locked, and as you may be aware we can increase CPU and GPU capability on Xbox One,” continued Harrison. “So I think it’s impossible to draw any conclusions from that based on pre-launch unfinished hardware and unfinished operating systems.
There is another thread on the press event discussing the new gameplay modes here
Though playing the victim and complaining it's probably hard to notice.

you mean like this one where Avalance Games said Microsoft was very behind in tools and had to catch up to PS4?
Or Microsoft's own Phil Harrison directly implying even their own internal teams are complaining at times?
And yet, we have heard no such similar stories about PS4. Literally ever, as far as I've been able to search it. The reports have been: extremely easy development, answered almost every dev problem they had with previous PS systems, much more mature tools, every issue from the controller to the the time it takes to "triangle" completely fixed or reworked. Even surprised most of the development world by listening to their wishes and giving them 8GB of GDDR5.
There's plenty of links of developers complaining about the XBO dev environment so I can go on if you like?
Sorry, but I couldn't find it in the same link?

"Sony and Microsoft are each still working on the graphics drivers for each console, and Xbox One is lagging behind in this regard Microsoft has been late on their drivers and that has been hurting them, said one source"
See if you can help me find in that link?
Does that mean that COD still not being showcased on the XBox One, even though it's gone gold, is because they were behind in development?
Thanks, had no idea they were so popular. I know Madden sells over there but I didn't realise NBA was as big. That NBA 2k game with Jordan on the cover sold gangbusters for months and months on end. It was probably the best selling non shooter game for ps3/360 that year.

I would this if I had the time now a days, but I don't. I think someone from GAF should head the #NFL2KLICENSE movement. I will would fully support it. This needs to be as big as #PS4NoDRM
After seeing and hearing all of this, if NBA 2K ends up delivering, EA must be forced to step down. We can't have it any other way.
Are we going to start a Kickstarter to raise the money 2K would need to outbid EA for the license?
Maybe MS is paying devs to not show the Xbox versions, lol.
maybe?
hence lack time for optimization. I don't believe anyone claims COD can't be 1080p on xb1.
most probable reason is ESRAM is bitch to work with and tools aren't as mature as it needs to be at launch.
eSRAM is harder to work with than the eDRAM that was on the 360.
That could make the most sense. Microsoft has for years marketed the Call of Duty franchise on the XBox 360. They further added the timed exclusive DLC deal with Activision will carry forward onto the upcoming generation. They had Call of Duty as their show-piece at the XBox One event (later I think some source or MS said it was running on the PC), yet leading up to the launch and the game going gold we still don't have any direct feed footage of it running on XBox One hardware?
Actually, I could totally believe that MS has asked publishers to not show their versions of multiplats that might be running behind at the same time while they help them get a version on shelves that is running competitively. I'm sure the publishers would be happy to accommodate them while they even the odds of positive PR to help sales of both versions which they need to sell equally well so that they're not just tossing future bargain bin coasters out there and taking that loss. Lost upfront exposure and the benefit of looking on-par at the same time in pre-release media and events traded away to ensure that the game people play on their systems can stand up to scrutiny that will most certainly happen under the head-to-head lens. If not good enough on-disc, then perhaps by first patch. It's a far more likely scenario than Sony buying a lockout on MS versions' pre-release media and sounds way more realistic than everything happening to be a Sony co-marketing deal. Sony is probably just fortunate enough to be benefiting from the MS version being behind so as to get all of the spotlighting to itself without having to pay/compensate for the privilege. On that note of day-one patches and post-release updates, I can see both platforms getting them regularly in the early going, so, I think there's a very good chance to see belated redemption for the version which lags behind the other much more easily this gen than before given the stakes and the new ability to do so much more easily.
then why did they go with that? Strange since MS usually makes easy to develop systems before.
That is actually a sound theory if this was a month or two ago but games have to go gold pretty much this week if not last hence why watch dogs and driveclubs delays were announced last week within a day or two of each other
The XB1 version should be fully cooked by now whatever that means, at least it's 1080P 60 FPS so should run smoothly
Sony's not shelling out the kind of money that would be required for this kind of one sided market exposure; and it doesn't even make sense that would' they have the overwhelming support of of the hardcore early adopter demographic and the word of mouth from that alone will garner them more market share influence then any amount of exclusive marketing deals they could buy. That's exactly what some on this thread are suggesting. I find it hard to imagine Sony blowing up that much money on every multiplatform publisher. But who knows! Both arguments seem like pure speculation to me. There is enough anecdotal evidence for people to cherry pick for or against the idea. There is no way to know for sure at this point.
Would it be possible to upgrade the game if they update the drivers even after release like what happens currently on the PC?

I agree, and I was ten when the console launched.
In retrospect, PS3 wasn't terrible. Blu-Ray was able to offset the high price, only real negatives were the less-than-stellar multiplats and barebones PSN.

Just because everything's being locked in for disc manufacture doesn't mean that media has to be shown yet. There's nothing preventing what I've said even if someone ends up actually showing shots from that version. Plenty of huge mandatory day-one-ish updates have hit big games in the past and this gen, more than any in the past, is all about seamless online updates and control, even if a lot of controversy has been centered on always-online earlier in the year. Remember that X1 requires a one-time phone-home/registration update to enable full offline freedom, so the likelihood of owners of that game updating prior to first play is high in the case of a day-one update.
1080p60 on both is great news!
It's not over yet, we still have face-offs, one version may perform worse (tearing, framedrops, loadtimes etc.)
You're right and I look forward to REAL comparisons like that rather than this fear mongering that this board has become.
Whitney wants to see the receipts. Also, what's this about the Xbox One version of COD never being shown? The first ever debut footage was confirmed by the developer to be running entirely on the Xbox One. And the PS4 footage that was shown on IGN, wasn't that just the MP? I really didn't watch much of that footage except for a glimpse after people kept saying how terrible it looked, so that made me curious. But, to date, the only SP footage shown has either been the Xbox One version or the PC version. Did people doubt 2K when they said that the footage of NBA 2K14 shown was the PS4 version? I don't see any reason to doubt Infinity when they say the debut trailer for COD Ghosts is running entirely on the Xbox One. What's with the skepticism around everything Xbox One? Even now people can't seem to square that the PS4 version and Xbox One version of this game are running at the same resolution. Although, I personally wouldn't have been surprised in the least if the Xbox One version were running at a lower resolution, but apparently it's confirmed that both are 1080p native.

The only third party game people have actually seen running on the Xbox One are, as far as I'm aware, Battlefield and FIFA 14.
But that's something that would be improved over time right? It would eventually be easier to develop for the XB1 than it is right now? How much easier would it make the process be?
