"Lots of PS4 game reviews coming in the next two weeks but not Xbone"

Come on, Arthur. Why take to twitter to stir up communities like GAF (you have to anticipate you'd get a thread out of this) and then trying to sweep your comments under the rug right after like they meant nothing?

Cause he's a master troll. Now everyone is talking about him.

On topic, my best assumption would be an embargo till the console releases. I don't think its the day 1 patch since that's only for retail consoles.

This also concerns me (this was a bit earlier in his feed but still related to this subject). Not sure if talking about AC4 or BF4 at the time but he 'claims' neither next gen version was ready to be reviewed for different reasons... and this doesn't sound good:

one is not good, but understandable (XB1 low rez?), the other just is, and is less understandable. (PS4 parity?)

The fuck does that mean? (Bolded part is my prediction)

EDIT: As for the original topic, yeah no shit singleplayer is gonna look way better than multiplayer... XB1 and PS4 versions aren't gonna look that different (except maybe rez) so this shouldn't come as a surprise

Yup, launch day embargo is probably the answer. My guess is that MS don't want a situation where people who have preordered the system read reviews that say the Bone version of a given game is significantly worse than the PS4 one.

this is what I thought at first.. but on second thought how can MSFT control a third party game?

Reading reviews on Polygon feels like everyday is Opposite Day anyway.

PS4 versions will get 6s and 7s, and 2 weeks later XB1 versions will get 8s and 9s, not for any real reason, just because.

So, he put out these statements because he doesn't want people to speculate that the Xbox One version is inferior?

I'm assuming because the day one firmware patch to allow games to be played on XB1 isn't ready yet.

Which would be nothing more than a veiled embargo when it comes down to it really. I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't be able to make games available to reviewers if they wanted, especially to this close to release.

@fpsShark one is not good, but understandable. the other just is, and is less understandable.

'One is not good, but understandable' (X1 COD is not good because it's the weaker system)
'The other just is, and is less understandable' (PS4 version of COD isn't very good either)

lol. If the reason is because the X1 versions suck then whats the point in delaying the inevitable? The truth is gonna come out eventually.

The dude is in game media and we are discussing video games. WTF kind of person thinks like this? he wrote cryptic tweets about next gen versions of games and we make a thread and he relishes in it? He even loves the fact that his cryptic tweets with no substance spawns a thread.

this industry is broken.

so that people don't cancel preorders duh.

Not everyone follows day to day news as we do.

Most of 360 gamers that played cod have Xbone preordered, but they don't follow the news. Now if they had 2-3 weeks heads up to find out. Well a lot of X1 would be canceled.
But if you get review on day 1 of the console release. It's too late.

I checked the conversation it was about BF4. Polygon is going to run a PC review but not a next gen review. They will have their thoughts on the next gen versions though

I don't get the hate for Gies, I mean I wouldn't say i'll grab some pom poms and cheer for him but I don't see whats wrong with him compared to anyone else.

this is a huge problem if true. This is the kind of stuff the media should be letting us all know. Not hiding it.

I didn't think it was possible to loathe someone as much as I do Arthur Gies. What a fuckhead. Yeah, you didn't say anything Gies.

This.

Did he seriously think he'd make such a statement, at this level of tension / timeframe before these consoles launch, and somehow it would be viewed [by GAF nonetheless] as an insignificant little 'thought' of his that wouldn't garner any attention? Sure, ok buddy. What a pretentious comment.

Guys WTF is with the Gies hate? Seriously? Don't like him, hen stop following him on twitter.

I'm actually getting kind of sick of news reports or threads coming from twitter posts. It is their personal twitters, they can say whatever the fuck they want. They don't have to consider GAF or anyone else. Breaking embargo o leaking info on twitter would be news-worthy. Venting frustration on the stupidity of next-gen embargoes is not.

The way I read it, his first tweet was out of frustration or something, the other tweets are just responding to the barrage of asinine tweets he must have gotten.

He has a history with GAF. Talked a lot about "secret sauce" I believe, and even made a bet with someone which he lost and never came through on. He purposefully antagonizes.

I just wanna see dead rising 3 reviews, cmon microsoft :/ thats my most hyped game but hype kills so idk yet.

also Ryse, everything else i can predict, maybe see Knack since im still undecided.

Only reason I can think of is that MS or the publishers don't want reviews until the game is closer to launch on the platform. People buy after they read them, so they probably don't want them reading until they can also be buying? So yeah, a week delay?

Arthur just loves saying stuff that he isn't allowed to fully explain.

This is his MO. It's all he does, usually undermining other journalists on the site. Journalist will write an article, and he'll link to it and say something like "Yeah... I'm sure this is the reason for this: -link-" without ever explaining.

He gets so bent out of shape when somebody calls him out on this shit too. He's unable to take any criticism without taking it personally and getting self-righteously offended.

I am weirdly excited at the prospect of next-gen reviews, especially reviews for multi-platform games. Ooh Microsoft, you sneaky devils.
