Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

So today I taught my brother (Snake main) how to DACUS, his "infinite" C4 recovery and how insane his up-tilt is.

Mistake.

I see no evidence of that.

Olimar is in that screen shot. His pose is exactly same pose that you will see on his character profile.

We really don't know a lot about Smash 4, when you put it into perspective.

We know and have seen:
- Variations: Wii U and 3DS.
- 14 returning characters, including one third party.
- 1 new third party addition.
- 3 newcomers from Nintendo.
- 8 stages for 3DS, 10 for Wii U.
- A couple of Final Smashes.

We don't know:
- Items.
- Assist trophies.
- Majority of Final Smashes.
- Stage hazards.
- Multiplayer options.
- Single player options/modes.
- Trophy/collection modes.

At the moment they're pretty much sticking to the essentials: core mechanics and characters. There's still a lot more to Smash that they're keeping behind the scenes.

We only know 3 or 4 items so far. X-Bomb (KI:U item), Capsule, Poke Ball (maybe, Xerneas) and Smash Ball.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I think it's very telling that we wouldn't expect the game to be released for long time, so I would guess May 2014 (rumor) and my Sept 2014 - December 2014 (prediction)

Megaton: Smash 4 doesn't have any of that shit, May 2014 release.

It's a hell of a lot more than we knew about Brawl within its first year of being announced at least. Wasn't Fox the only post-E3 veteran reveal until around a year after the original trailer?

I mean I preferred Dojo, but I think relatively speaking we've been given information about this game way quicker in relation to its first trailer than we did for Brawl (and both games were originally announced before they were remotely in development too).

Also leaning towards Yellow Devil being a stage hazard for Wily's Castle. Didn't that stage also have buzzsaws attached to rails in one shot as well?

It's really interesting to watch the brawl commercial that intros wario, pit, meta knight, and snake and realize that sonic wasn't originally going to be in but was a late addition to the game. I know we have all talked and assume that the roster is already finalized but I wonder if a character could be added pretty late in development again? Wasn't Toon link a late addition as well?

Actually, Sonic was planned for the roster since the start. Sega refused (for god knows why) until later in development.

I like it this way.

Smash isn't a game that should have it's surprises ruined.

Indeed, imagine what Sakurai might've learned from doing surprise twists in Uprising and applying it to Smash.

I remember browsing Gamefaqs and just joining in the frenzy as people were playing import versions of Melee. Doctor Mario? Huh? Falco? Cool. Ganondorf? WHAT!!!? I really REALLY hope the secret characters can create that much excitement. With Brawl, I remember staying away for the most part until they revealed them on the Dojo, but hearing about a couple of the unlockable tracks drummed up the most excitement. I remember being shocked and happily surprised to hear Tetris themes made it in.

Really? I always heard that Sakurai said anybody who wanted a 3rd party guest had to ask them, but when SEGA didn't say anything and demand for Sonic grew they went back on that and asked first. Probably the same thing they did for Mega Man too, considering how apathetic Capcom is about him nowadays.

Toon Link was likely planned from the start (unlike Sonic), just programmed in like Wolf and Jiggs later than most of the other cast was.

Sakurai said that Nintendo asked Sega once it became apparent that people really wanted Sonic, but according to the History of Sonic the Hedgehog book, Nintendo wanted him in from the start but Sega wouldn't go along with it until he turned out to be the most wanted addition. The book also confirms that Sonic's late addition to the game was a big part of the reason it was delayed.

Holy crap, guys, I was cooking earlier and put some food in a tub to keep to later, and it left the imprint of which looks like Ridley.

I was mindblown, excuse the poor camera quality:
