CheapyD is saying there's probably no patch to increase resolution.

I'm going to go ahead and guess the reason for the embargo is that it can't play games until the patch is installed, and it sounds like it won't be ready until right at release.

That and resolution gate.

Oh I understand the average person probably doesn't understand HD resolution but they do understand "The X1 version is inferior to the PS4 version".
This. They won't need to know the technical details, just the end result.

I'm more curious about the embargo at this point, and what this "news" is. It does appear to be affecting the reporting of this topic, since gaming sites apparently aren't able to talk about it because of the embargo, but they are mentioning that the embargo exists... that alone is enough to stir shit up. I'm gonna have to write these dates down on my calendar somewhere, to keep an eye on the site here and various news sites on those days.

If all this turns out to be true you have to believe MS is going to just slug their way through for a year or two and try to rush out the cloud gaming experience that was detailed in the leaked roadmap.

Lol.

Sethos, are you getting a PS4? You double dipping on BF4? (I am seriously considering it of its 1080p...)

I'll be upgrading my digital PS3 version to PS4, since I'm not getting a PS4 at launch and it's only 10$. Can't wait for that 40-50GB download xD

From what I understand, the big patch for Xbone is supposed to be in the neighborhood of 1.4GB. That could change in terms of size but that is supposed to be similar to the big day 1 patch. Improves system speed and pre-patch it's slow/er.

The order 1886...

There is no upscaling taking place in The Order. It's outputting a 1080p image with black bars. This is identical to Blu Ray output. If you consider that Sub-HD then you also consider Blu Ray to be sub-HD, and that's silly. Especially since that aspect ratio was decided on extremely early into the game's development.

That would probably explain why people are buying 1080p TV's over 720p TV's despite being more expensive
To some people, more expensive means better and that's as far as their understanding goes. There are a lot of people with HD TVs watching SD content and they have no idea.
Oh I understand the average person probably doesn't understand HD resolution but they do understand "The X1 version is inferior to the PS4 version".
Agreed, I think it might boil down to "PS4 just has better graphics". But look at the last couple of generations. It didn't really matter all that much.
You do realize this is the exact, the exact same line, people used during the DRM debacle?

Look how that spread like wildfire and showed otherwise.
Kind of caught a wave on the Edward Snowden NSA scandal, though.

God this launch is so damn entertaining. And it's only just begun...

Sometimes I feel like I'm more looking forward to the news an rumors than the consoles haha
