Are you serious? Since when has the gaming press had some kind of credibility to lose? I can't even begin to expect them to give me some kind of significant information about the industry. We'll get an unboxing of the Kinect sponsored by Mountain Dew the day before release. Maybe that was postponed or something.

It could of been that he was going to receive his Xbox One with games and all of sudden MS stopped it???

If it's something as serious as the OS crashing, games not working properly or just an outright RROD-level of a fuck up, if they don't have confirmation or a source willing to go on record they probably can't report on it. Trust me, reporters hear shit off the record all the time. They know more than you do.

If they did report off the record stuff or reported without confirmation, blacklisting would be the least of their worries. MS would probably sue them for every penny they have. If it's such a serious issue that it could affect launch sales if it were revealed, you better believe MS probably wouldn't think twice about suing them.

Regardless of what you guys think of gaming journalists, they probably aren't making six figures. I doubt you want to risk going up against MS's legal team.

If they know something, they can be the source confidentially. Get someone else to write the damn thing. Of course, then they wouldn't have the ego gratification they need.

Sony has said nothing about production problems - quite the opposite actually.

They've already cleared FCC registration and released final system specs.

The PS4 is on schedule. Something else is amiss.

I have a guess, and it's a dumb one. What if the press is being pushed aside so that there are other means of showcasing Microsoft's desires? Like say, the press is embargoed a week or so prior to Microsoft putting out content of famous people or their own PR guys talking and showcasing the games and content?

From what I get from Sessler, he seems to imply that he and others are being repressed on some level, and it's for a dumb reason. A dumb reason would be to try and get famous people to play damage control for a system that has more haters than lovers. Either that or they're all seeing something very, very troubling about the system that Microsoft is telling them to not discuss, which can only be a major technical or design issue. Whatever it is, I am sure very few people will be happy about it. Microsoft needs all the flattery it can buy. I think that's the only way it's been able to get positive spotlight, like the Toys R Us listing. The platform has had nothing but shadows around it since the DRM fiasco was revealed.

There is no way in heck MS is delaying this thing. Thats like giving Sony next-gen on a gold platter. Even if the launch consoles have buggy OS or even shoddy hardware, its in their best interest to launch this year.
 
If it's journalists that are pissed, then I'm guessing MS is putting a gag order on all reviews until after launch. That would be some shit.

Yeah that could mean anything. Maybe Rev3 or whatever Sessler's site is now these days got bought out or something. Maybe he's going to lose his job again. Maybe there were staff cutbacks at his office.
 
Only thing I can think of being so explosive would be MS moneyhatting AAA devs to castrate PS4 versions. It this is really what's happening and I managed to guess it right, all I ask for is a spot in the mod-shelter while the world is aflame.

I feel like after reading these tweets their more worried about the industry they cover than anything else. Like there are so many mistakes that it's Atari/ET all over again.

Integrity works in both directions, though, doesn't it? It was probably their access to these games that made them privy to whatever relevant information they have, and since the process that gave them access included an embargo, respecting the process means not freely divulging everything they've learned (good or bad). I'm 100% sure we'll have this information a solid amount of time before launch.

These things aren't going to work according to NeoGAF's timetable. Let's try to stay calm.
 
Maybe they sent out the Xbox One press kits and sent out the review copies of the game, but they're locking activation until after the embargo date?
 
so here is my question. should reviewers deduct points from the xbone version if its running at a lower resolution or looks worse compared to the ps4 version?

why are 'journalists' blue balling about this? it's not fucking NSA leaks, it's a consumer product. just say some shit. I guess publisher relations > reporting.

Unless it *is* NSA leaks.

Guess you have not being reading the reports that how the OS is buggy and has been having issues. But that's besides the point, the reality is that MS never wanted to create a great next gen gaming machine but an entertainment box that is also a good/ok gaming rig.

Sounds like Sessler is talking about the review embargo. No win for them because for a full 7 days you are going to have PS4 headlines, reviews, gameplay footage, reactions, DS4 is FANTASTIC FOR FPS type stuff all over Youtube, etc.

A full week of press for the PS4 right before launch, and then finally 3 days before the PS4 launches you start seeing X1 reviews of games that have been reviewed for a full week, and those reviews could be harsh in stating the X1 version looks worse.

No win for MS in that scenario.

Might be my bad...I was just wondering what could be such bad news without it being related to the bad news (all XBONE related) within this thread since Sessler unequivocally mentioned it has nothing to do with XBONE.
