Nintendo Downloads - October 2013

I am so buying Wii Sports Tennis HD. I don't really care about the other sports, but I was addicted to Tennis for so long. Will be super fun to play it online, especially in local "clubs" and whatnot.

I have €7,59 in my eShop wallet. Crimson Shroud is €7,99.

Any indication if this will go on sale soon? (in Europe)

eh

Just click on buy, and top up with the remainder from your debit/credit card. The option is there, isnt it?

You should just be able to add the difference.

Don't have a credit card, don't know anyone who has one. They are not that common in Holland. The only option for me would be to add a whole new €15 card and I don't have the funds to do that at the moment.

I would love for them to add Paypal as a payment option, or iDeal (Dutch payment system), but that probably won't happen though.

I think the only time it has gone on sale was to build up to Guild02's release in NA/Europe. Since they haven't even announced Guild03 yet, I wouldn't get my hopes up on a sale anytime soon. Of course, there's no way of knowing for sure since sales can randomly pop up at any time.

just going to stick my head in here - I expect no immediate satisfaction, just patiently waiting for some news on the Sega Classics 3DS games in NA. That is all. Good day to you sirs and madams.

You're kidding, right? -_-
I'm not. Nobody uses a credit card in Holland. I have no idea why, but none of my family members, nor my friends own one.

edit: I'm not saying no one in Holland has one. I'm saying that they aren't as common here as in, let's say the US.

Yeah that's what I thought :/. Oh well, I'll get it the next time I add funds for a different game.

.....not even Debit Cards?

This is good. In a world with digital debit, credit cards are kind of a scam maintained by the banks to collect interest fees.

Well, I could get one, but then I'd have to pay at least €20 in advance, which would mean I'd be better off getting a €15 eShop card if I'd only need 50 cents, haha.

I'm sure there'll be a new eShop game in the next couple of months that I want, so I'll just get Crimson Shroud then too :).

Hmm...wonder if that option is available on the U.S. eShop. My wife bought the new Phoenix Wright the other day and had about $13.00 left on her thing, but when she went to buy it, it seemed to only give her the option to add increments of $10, $20, $50, etc.

Yes it's there. At the bottom I believe.

Yeah you just use the "Card on file" or whatever option instead of adding money to the account.

Can't remember the exact verbiage.

that's a pretty slick deal for AC III for anyone interested in the series

Super Castlevania IV and Wii Fit U for Europe makes this a good week.

Yeah, I need to get back into the Wii Fit regime. :P

Yay, Castlevania for Europe, too! But kinda sad, that it's the only VC game for the week (they could maybe have pushed for more Castlevania games or at least other horror themed games).
Also, the RE Revelations discounts don't seem to be quite as good as the ones in the US (it's actually cheaper at retail). Oh well, getting Castlevania this week.

Pretty lackluster week, in my opinion. There's some cool stuff (Wii Fit U, SCIV), some nice deals (ACIII, RER). But seriously, no new release? I'd love to believe it was because a Nintendo Direct was incoming, but I'm not sure anymore :p

I'm kinda tempted by RER on Wii U, but I simply have WAY too much on my plate at the moment.

Hmmm Assassin's Creed for £11.99. Is it any good?

If I buy it, the points I'll get for the promotion will reflect this price, right? Don't remember.

Goddamnit, now my 3ds just crashed while browsing the eshop. First time that has ever happened to me. Nintendo needs to put out an update to fix this.

Anyone going to make a Wii Fit U OT? I made the Art Academy one, so I can probably do a quick one for this too. Mostly interested in having a NeoGAF Club.

Nintendo eShop (3DS)

Hotel Transylvania (Avanquest) - €19.99/£17.99

Yep. Good halloween themed update. Nothing's more scary than a late, overpriced eShop upload of a shit platform game by WayForward based on a movie which came out a year ago.

I was hoping to see Revelations being 10€, but at least Mercenaries is 6€. Not going to grab it though, I don't like high score only games.

Should I jump on Revelations and Mercs for $10 each? I'm not an M-rated person but I've been curious and interested, and I've yet to see either for that price at retail (despite many others seeing clearance sales).

I'd be cool to have both on my system, what are the block sizes of both? I would think they can fit my 4GB card... right?

I don't think they will. I remember Revelations being quite meaty. I don't have the exact file size, though, but I'm sure it uses at least a 2GB card at retail.

edit: I'm not saying no one in Holland has one. I'm saying that they aren't as common here as in, let's say the US.

That's probably true for your circle but credit cards are common like it is elsewhere. I asked my in-laws who have traveled there and they had no issues using credit cards anywhere they went.

From Holland's website:

Credit Cards
All major credit cards are accepted widely, but not everywhere. If in doubt, ask in advance. Cash-on-card services are available from selected American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and VisaCard addresses. These cards are also accepted by all GWK currency exchange outlets and Change Express Offices.

Sounds just like the US.

Googling around, it seems that you might be right about the Dutch not tending to use credit cards:

"It's well known that the Dutch don't use credit cards, we use credit cards for vacation and petrol," said Woutersen, "But we are typically a debit card country."
A study done by Hoofdbedrijfschap Detailhandel(HRD), a Dutch Retail Association might provide a clue as to why acceptance isn't as pervasive as in other parts of the world. By their estimates an average credit card transaction costs about EUR 2.5 — a significant amount compared to EUR .22 for a debit card transaction and an even lower EUR .01 for a cash transaction.
"Yes, credit card costs are high, up to 4 percent of the transaction," comments Jan de Jong, Deputy General Director of HRD. "So why do it when you have other methods which are just as good, like debit cards. And some of these merchants are on lower margin business, such as department stores like Hema, can't afford these high costs."
But he adds that some sectors, such as tourism and business travel, have to accept them but that they operate on higher margins and in turn can pass those cost on to the customers.
"So too," de Jong adds, "the Dutch will only get a credit card when traveling abroad, for hotels and so on, where they can't use the debit cards and they don't want to carry cash."
Carla van Lier, a spokesperson with Visa Netherlands, said that there are currently 1.7 million Visa card holders in Holland, and the numbers were growing at a steady rate as are the number of merchants who accept her card.
"I think it is being more and more accepted," she commented, "But I still think there are still a lot of people paying with bank cards. Its just the Dutch habit."

Yes you can pay at a lot of places with credit cards but we just dont use them. It is more for people visiting us in our country. I only know one guy who owns a credit card and that is the guy who has to travel a lot for his work. if you want a credit card you have to pay extra for the card + a fee on the product you buy. With the bank cards you recieve when opening a bank account. you dont have to pay for that.

Everyone should be getting Super Castlevania IV this week. Much better than Rondo of Blood which I always felt was a step back.

The fun fact about Super Castlevania IV I like is that it's not really supposed to be the 4th game as a story but a remake of the original Castlevania. Konami tacked "IV" on the end outside Japan.

I do agree it's the best classic CV and liked it more than Rondo. But I think it should be played with the hard mode password to get the most out of it. Normal difficulty is really easy and doesn't show off how good the level design and enemy placement is.

I'm a dumb baby so the restore points feature is very appealing to me. I'm in stage 5 of Castlevania on 3DS VC with four lives. I don't have the dedication to finish these games the normal way anymore so I'd rather load up the same room over and over if I take a hit.

holy shit at that AC3 deal. I still haven't played my disc copy.. If NA gets that sort of deal I might just trade in my unopened copy to GS toward a eShop card.
