8 minutes of COD: Ghosts "Extinction" mode Xbox One gameplay

Extinction mode. Wasn't that the mode they went into when starting development of Ghosts on a 15 year old engine for "next gen"?
 
I missed the entire bit where aliens are in COD now. Will this be outrage like when Halo got perks?
 
I seem to remember the guys on the Bombcast talking about how IW basically felt like the Zombie mod for Black Ops was a joke and they would never do any shit like that.

Apparently aliens are fine tho.

So you're one of those people who literally have the mentality that because something will be different, then that means its going to automatically be better and want change for the sake of it.

Yeah, that's a great idea and totally hasn't destroyed plenty of franchises in the past..
 
Looks fun, is that the first showing of the XBO version?

Second dude looks a lot like Ben Gibbard, sounds almost exactly like him too, strange.
 
The cynic in me wants to think that now that all the big IW guys are now over at Respawn Activision made them do this. Basically telling them to do their version of the zombie mode because it sells map packs.

Also this games continues to look bad for a next gen title.

What?

This just looks like Nazi Zombies with Aliens. Nazi Zombies was already played out last year, but at least that was Treyarch refining their own idea. This just looks like IW said "We need to do something like that, quick someone come up with something!".

And they came up with Aliens. I'm sure that took a lot of planning and consideration. We deserve better from the "biggest franchise in gaming".
 
I have to say, I'm a little disappointed with how simplistic this looks. Appears from what we see there that it pretty much just is horde mode with aliens with a class system... where nazi zombies has much more strategy and skill involved with it (and more lasting longevity than Extinction will, I feel).

I was hoping for Infinity Ward's Zombie mode, but this looks like Survival Mode from MW3 + Aliens
 
XB1 version looks identical to the PS4...character models look better, can't wait till these guys decide to build a new engine one day :/

Isn't IW just a shell of their former selves at this point after the mass exodus of personnel? They had like 50 resignations after that fiasco.
 
Looks like Left 4 Dead Survival mode and its variants. Picking up and throwing gas tanks and other things, the outlines around objects, etc.

The Infinity Ward that made those statements is long gone. They're all at Respawn and new Infinity Ward is still picking up the pieces and trying hard to redefine who they are without their old leads and seniors.
 
Thanks for posting fellow GAFfer, I just watched it and I actually liked it. Gave me a Left 4 Dead vibe in some places and it can be a different thing to play with a couple of friends.

I wonder if this means the Season Pass will give content to this mode, as much I found it interesting in past game I never played much of Spec Ops or Zombies so that helped me avoiding all the DLC's since I don't like to pay for maps in modes I won't use often so I'm guessing the same will happen in here.
 
I approve. Did not expect this to come with the game at all, so the fact that it's even there is a big plus. And I was getting bored of zombies anyway.
 
Everything about it looks great except for the enemies. They just look like bullet sponges.

They get a cool alien survival mode game, a cool military competitive shooter and a 6 hour campaign, all with different rulesets and systems. They get 3 games in 1!

Don't be upset with them, they are happy.
