Does anybody knows if the PS4 will be able to reproduce MKV? At least give me that Sony.
https://twitter.com/KazHiraiCEO/status/395621517805252608"We are changing the name of our Sony Music Unlimited service just for PS4. It will be called Sony the Music you are Limited to
I do use the feature in games. All games on the 360 and in games that support custom soundtracks on the PS3.I am confused, when Xbone came out and said they were doing everything exceptcuring cancer people complained. PS4 comes out and says we are doing games and everything else is a distant second people are complaining.
Yep. This is moving backwards.Man I fucking LOVE swapping out background music for my own.
I've been doing it since they added it in Project Gotham Racing back on the original Xbox. Being able to play your own music in racing games upgrades the experience in every way. Doing it through the console also meant you didn't lose access to the in-game sound effects; only the music would be different.
It was my shit for Geometry Wars, WipeOut, Forza X, DoA 4/5, CoD MP, Gears MP, and a number of others. Some of my best memories this generation were kicking people's asses in DoA to James Brown's Big Payback, or flying down a WipeOut track listening to D'Angelo's Crusin'.
If anything, I expected these kinds of features to be more prevalent and integrated across more titles. Not this bullshit.
wow that is shit. You can't import music into MU and play those?
You can play mp3's on vitaIt's Sony showing that they're a real company with departments that have their own priorities. The development team within the Playstation division is a dream come true for us, but they have to answer to plenty of other suits in and around them. This is my guess, but from what I've seen this has to be the case. I only hope that we can get them to open things up because at the very least we should be able to bring in our own mp3's to play music in the background.
No, he confirmed you can use Xbox Music, not mp3s. Xbox Music is also a subscription service, but it allows you to stream your own ripped CDs over the network: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/music
I think I used my PS3 for streaming audio and video last gen more than I used it for gaming.
"...my own music..." is the keypart of the question here. So, you need an Xbox Music sub.
So what speakers do you use for your console? You've got two speaker sets? Or play one through lousy TV speakers and the other through your home cinema?I have to admit, I only listened to music on my PS3 a grand total of about two times but Sony should change this.
No loss to me at all though.
I play music on my phone and bluetooth it to speakers. Much easier.
Yeah, so someone just mentioned Albert confirmed that you can play your own music on Xbox One. Would be cool to get that confirmed.
You tweet peeps do your thing! Make Yosp regret this decision. I know it's not his sole decision... but someone at Sony has to regret it.
Wait, wait, wait. So there is no audio playback (CD's, MP3, DLNA Streaming, Etc...) at all, period? Or just not for this custom soundtrack feature? If the former, this is on the level of pre-180 Xbone on the brain dead dumb fuck scale.
Well, a game machine is what Sony thought everyone wanted.
Yes. No DLNA support.Wait, this makes no sense other than to force their service on us. What $400 media device cant play MP3s in 2013? Has it been confirmed you cant stream your library in either?
Can't find the quote?

Weird but don't really care. I'm much more interested in if mkv will be supported. Anyone know?
Who cares for "Windows Media Extender" compatibility? DLNA is more wide spread.
There's no media playback of any kind. You can play DVDs, Blu-Rays or PS4 games. And you can stream Music Unlimited in the background as you play PS4 games. That's it.
Begin the next hashtag campaign men.
Wait, wait, wait. So there is no personal audio playback (CD's, MP3, DLNA Streaming, Etc...) at all, period? Or just not for this custom soundtrack feature? If the former, this is on the level of pre-180 Xbone on the brain dead dumb fuck scale.

They weren't kidding when they said the Xbone is the better Media device, eh?

Yes, you can use *your own music*. Huge difference than being forced to pay for Xbox Music.
