Does the Xbone do it locally though? Music stored on the system drive?
Your whole "it should just be about the games" stance isn't needed. I don't think anyone seriously will forego getting a PS4 because it lacked a basic support of MP3s, however that doesn't make it any less facepalm-able.
Perfect.There...
Seems he just brushed it off.
What else would he say really?I'm missing the good news part.
"We'll consider it in the future" isn't nearly the same as "we'll support it, just not at launch". Its kindof the opposite.
Ok, the thread can be a little calmer now.
Seems he just brushed it off.
"Of course we're supporting those features, they just won't be available at launch."What else would he say really?
Once again, I never said that this wasn't a problem for some people. I just don't believe it's as big an issue as people are making it. If Sony rights the wrong, great for us. If not, life goes on.
You were expecting something other than lip service?Seems he just brushed it off.
Sony's been making some odd choices lately... What is the point in not allowing this or themes?

He's not going to tell us "yeah, we'll be patching that into the PS4 in early 2014" when they have no intention of doing so.
The FAQ was pretty definitive about that.
I suspect we'll get a non-answer/stalling from Major Nelson on the Xbone front if there's no good news to share there, either.
That's not the response of a company that knows it's already planning to do it. Perhaps Yosp doesn't know.
Like getting Music Unlimited to work in-game for a fee?

Thanks for the feedback to the lack of MP3 and DLNA support at the launch of PS4. I'll share with the PS4 Dev team for future consideration.
Those stupid games and core functionality took the focus away ><
They still play audio CDs and the newer ones support MP3.
Awesome!
Time to start a new twitter campaign #MP3OnPS4 #DLNAOnPS4
That's DLNA. Neither can do it.
So is the PS3.

Yoshida's answer is pure bullshit.
That is a very good non answer. Not seeing that as any kind of comfirmation of anything :/
When Nintendo...NINTENDO...allows MP3 files to be played on the 3DS and the PS4 does not, there's a problem.
Yes, it's a games console but there are just certain features you come to expect a system or device to have and if doesn't, the outcry is deserving. Especially at $400.

And the PS3 did not have DLNA support until May, some six months post launch.
This. That was straight sales speak.
Who DOESN'T hook up their iPod to their car stereo and blast their music all the way to their entertainment center?
Awesome!180 incoming praise the Lord! (yosp)

It is a pretty big deal, people have been complaining about a 360-like music system for years. Now they're trying to put music behind a paywall and limit worse than the PS3. Don't know why you're trying to downplay the importance but once again, it's not needed.

It's not surprising. MS have been getting beat up the last few days (and months really) over all of their fuck ups that when something negative comes out about Sony, people want to blow it up to the same level when it is nowhere near. Is Sony trying to push people into MU shitty? Damn right it is. Is this the deal-breaker people want it to be? It really isn't no matter how much whining happens.
"Sure, just play something on your ipod"![]()
That's the closest we'll get for now. Not 100% clear if he means locally stored MP3s though.
