Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

I'm really liking Hotline Miami on Vita, but it feels easier than the PC version since you can just lock onto enemies and spray. I think the PC version got updated with controller controls and lock-on too, but I played it with KB/M before that was possible. I think I like that it's easier now.

Guys there is a new Freedom Wars trailer. Well, "new". Most (if not all) are scenes we've previously saw rehashed. But there is a date in the end 11/21, so we may receive news in a few days. Here is the link.

The date is in 3:22 or so. After that there are like 10 seconds of blurry gameplay xD

For action games, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, God of War games, Ys Seven,Ys Oath of Felghana,God Eater, GTA Chinatown Wars and Liberty City Stories, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Jak and Daxter seems pretty good to recommend

Racers would be Gran Turismo, Motor Storm: Arctic Edge, Ridge Racer, Wipeout Pulse/Pure seems standard.

Lastly for platformers, our resident VitaGAF member, Totobeni, recommends Gurumin.

My personal recommendations especially if you're a Gundam fan like myself is Gundam vs. Gundam Next Plus, SD Gundam G Generation Overworld, Super Robot Wars Z 2.1/2.1

For FF fans, Duodecim Dissidia 012 and FFVII Crisis Core.

I'm also constantly playing Lord of Vermillion because my friends still play it. It's kinda like a mash up between God Eater, Soul Sacrifice and Monster Hunter.

That's my list for the moment. There's more but I can't possibly list down everything especially because my taste are more on RPGs. Even more if we add PSX games.

Special mention: DJ Max. 1000 hours spent here. I've played the same game/s for 4 years.

Is he/she in Japan? Because I don't know about the rest, but Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and FFVII Crisis Core are not available anywhere digitally outside of Japan.

I'm pretty sure you could always lock on with KB/M using a middle click.

It's playable at Jump festa so we are definitely getting gameplay video on 11/21

Not really, digital release can be cheaper than retail since you could omit the physical medium from the costs.
As such, Tearaway can be $30 on PSN, and $36 retail for example.

You're missing the point.
The point is that sometimes the games pretty much are priced the same, regardless of the exchange rate (see Dragon's Crown, NGS2+) and sometimes they're not.
Seeing Tearaway priced at 20gbp and 25euros gave me some hope that the digital version here would be $19.99 or $24.99, but alas...

Tearaway is $39.99 at retail in North America. Given SCE's other first party games receive a 10% digital discount, I imagine the same will happen with Tearaway, hence $35.99.

This.
And that means no sale for your friendly neighborhood snowman.

Its gonna be a long wait for you.

Try to at least buy a Vita if a good deal presents itself to you. Like you, I was waiting for a Vita TV too but I bit the bullet when I found that I can buy a PS Vita for $60. (I actually bought it for $150 but it includes a 32gb mmc and a game so its essentially $60).

It's mind boggling to me that people would choose a Vita TV over a Vita itself. I want a Vita TV for the sole reason that I was looking into a Roku box for my bedroom and getting a Vita TV instead makes a lot of sense. Maybe for the "I want my PS4 on another TV a lot of the time", but still...

The system is top notch and you can literally play it anywhere. You don't *have* to sit down in front of the TV to make gaming time. That's my #1 favorite thing about this console... the WiiU kind of does it and the PS4 will use the Vita to do it a la the WiiU... but it's ridiculously convenient... when you have 5-10 minutes, you play if you feel like it.

Anyway, I agree with you. Vita first. Vita TV as an accessory later.

Is Gunstar Heroes not playable on the Vita? :/ (I have a PS3 that can transfer if that's possible).

Was Gunstar Heroes ever released as a PSX or PSP title?
I've never heard of it, so I'm guessing you're dreaming about playing PSN titles on Vita.
We can't even get SCEA to let us play the Crash games on our Vitas... like they're going to let us play various PSN titles on Vita... :P

There is it shows you how many matches you won and its shows your match win ratio, for ex if you have 10 wins and a 2 win per lose ratio means you lost 5 matches for a total of 15. So just divide the wins by the ratio and take that number and add to wins for your total.

Yeah, I figured that out later, but that involves a calculator.
I was wishing it just had more explicit stats, to include general things like "career headshots", "career matches", "warzone matches", "team deathmatch matches", etc.

Any reason Dragon's Crown is like £3 off?

Cause they like PS+ members?

It's not available even in Japan.

My bad. I really thought they were.

Also, excited to find out more about Freedom Wars. I'm playing GE Burst for the first time (my first monster hunting game) and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I still don't get the full grasp of all the customizing stuff but it is enjoyable nonetheless. And the fact that it has a bit of story also helps a lot.

Is it me or does FW looks A LOT like GE?

How the hell did you get Pure?

Works fine in EU as normal, even the DLC! But you have to transfer that over manually, not available on the store, they were free.

Pure doesn't work in US? sucks :/

Pulse gets the dlc too, but the mirage pack needs to be transferred from ps3 for some weird reason, the other 3 packs can be downloaded onto vita as normal.

Yay rainbow moon on DEC 3, I'm excited for that.

Finally. I am also really excited for it. I passed on the PS3 version for the Vita version. I hope it is a good game, apart from a few trailers( in which it looked fun) I actually don't know much about it.

iOS and Android get an original Ratchet & Clank game before Vita, and it's developed by Insomniac too lol

Never forget:

That game is an absolute abomination on Vita. I have never felt so scorned as a PlayStation consume honestly. I can't believe that product was ever cleared for launch. Absolutely ridiculous.
/rant

Makes me so hesitant about any future R&C Vita title. Really hope I get proven wrong though

You'd think something running at such a poor resolution would be pushing like 60fps. It's apparently sub 20fps. bwahahaha

I say this without a hint of remorse: the game looks worse in motion

That sounds horrendous. Please tell me Insomniac didn't port this themselves.
Wasn't this delayed by a couple months compared to the PS3 version? It looks like it took a few months to develop. :/

Insomniac has never developed anything for Sony's handhelds. The port of FFA was handled by a new studio called Tin Giant.

Ah, that explains a lot.
I've never heard of them, but their website claims that they've worked on a bunch of Insomniac titles:
-Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
-Resistance 2
-Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty
-Resistance 3
-Ratchet and Clank: HD Collection
-Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault
-Fuse

^ I'm not that familiar with the series but are any as bad as how that looks to be? it's embarrassing .... less than 20fps :/

o.O

Made by insomniac?

should have read the rest of the posts, ok "good"

What are you waiting for then? :)

No more pre order slots?
Basic preorders (at non-scalping prices) are sold out at most import friendly shops.

There is also the small chance that if the VitaTV has its own special PSN store due to not having full vita game support, a non-JP version of that store may not exist if they really don't intend to sell it outside of Japan.

Is it me or does FW looks A LOT like GE?
It's definitely a clone, aesthetically

Any UK/Euro VitaBros get US Psn points from Amazon.com?

I've got a US Psn account already set up, and I'd heard that the best way to add funds to the wallet is to get Amazon to e-mail the code.

Is it as easy as that? Or is there stuff I've got to watch out for?

I like how you call it "an original" R&C game, when you'd call it a shit tie-in if it were on Vita.

The answer is obvious, of course. The point of that game is to promote the PS3 game. What Vita owners want is a port of the actual PS3 game but Insomniac's engine runs like shit on it.

Probably still can't buy Avatars on the Vita, huh? :x

I get the feeling I'd get more fusion partners in DoS if I had a cool avatar..

Sorry if already posted, but the Starlight Inception beta demo is out for everyone now:

Grab it here

I played around with it for bit and enjoyed my time. While I wasn't expecting a deep sim, there's certainly more there than anticipated. It will be out for purchase in December. Excited for portable space sim action! Pew! Pew!

Would have jumped in but so much effort switching vita from EU to US, thanks for posting though.

I heard the framerate was bad...but also good :P Someone put it as both a positive and a negative in a recent review. I did watch a youtube video a while back (think it was BM's) and he wasn't happy with the framerate at all. Hopefully the improve it, still want to play it though!

Yeah I know, I meant maybe they are employees of the Rovio or something. Wasn't meant to be serious. It is mindblowing that it is 40$.
I wonder if the PS version of the game comes with more than you get from the standard iOS version? Aren't there a load of IAPs in those?

Just trying to understand why it's as much as it is, makes more sense if you get some of the extras in the bundle.

Oh, it's an original shit tie-in ala PlayStation All-Stars Island. The difference between that, and this is that Vita received the real PS All-Stars game. Vita has a Ratchet & Clank game, but it might as well not given the quality of the port. But really, it's the fact that Insomniac made the iOS thing. They've never touched either of Sony's handhelds, but phones? C'mon.

I'm enjoying Gravity Rush very much, and just today I saw that there's some DLC for it. Is it worth the 12€ for the three of them, or are the missions forgettable?

Christ, I'd kill for an original Ratchet game on Vita, even if it weren't developed by Insomniac. The PSP got two in Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank, and while they weren't quite up to the level of the console games, they were a lot of fun.

In fact, I'd love to see a developer like Sanzaru tackle Vita R&C. Sly 4 was a lot of fun, and ran rather well on Vita.

The DLC is good, I enjoyed them. They actually fit right into the storyline so you should buy them before you finish the game to have the best experience.
