As far as Yoshida's tweet goes, in an old tweet he told someone that it wouldn't be a surprise if he told you that there would be a surprise. So that's why he always says "no" when someone asks about that.

Whatever, there is not going to be what GAF would consider a "MAJOR PS4 Game" announcement at midnight on a Thursday.
 
Anyone know which store they're broadcasting from? I'll be watching via my phone from the Union Square Best Buy line.

Realistically, they could reveal a game with tekken: Stickmen and everyone would be pleased, its launchNIGHT they cant go wrong :)
 
I'm hoping we see something from Epic and either SSM or Bend. I'm pretty sure we won't see ND's game until the VGAs so I'm not even gonna get my hopes up.

If this was just another episode of GTTV, I'd agree with you.

But it's not. It's Somy's launch event in collaboration with a major TV network while it's also streamed live online.

There is going to be at least one major PS4 game at this thing.

Well, the VGAs are a bigger deal for a few reasons.

-It's an annual show, so it's a known quantity.
-It airs during prime time, so there's a chance to hook your target demo as well as casual observers who are just at home for the evening, channel surfing.
-It's advertised much earlier than this.
-There are numerous celebrity appearances to further reach outside that target demo.

So yeah, it's a bigger deal. This is big too though. I mean, it's the PS4 launch event. It's done in partnership with Sony. Executives are teasing announcements.

I'm not sure what's so difficult to understand.

The VGAs last year drew a .19 overnight rating. A 3am rerun of George Lopez on Nick at Night doubled the ratings of the VGA. Not that I think this PS4 launch is going to do any better but the idea that they need save reveals for VGA like that show matters at all is laughable. Nobody at sitting at home Friday night waiting for the Uncharted 4 trailer.

No. He was asked that about TGS after the Pre-TGS conference where all that stuff you mentioned was announced. I don't think anything major other than Gravity Rush 2 was announced at TGS, though I could be wrong.
 
Any new games will do me just fine... as long as they're not simulation sports games (arcade football would be the perfect announcement for me -the return of ISS! :).
 
Only a few things could quality as MAJOR PS4 announcements.

So will def. be something from Santa Monica. We still know absolutely nothing about what they are doing and have not seen anything.

Naughty Dog does not sound like they are doing anything yet with the PS4 that is show worthy.

He also said there would be nothing announced at Gamescom and E3. He's just trolling.
 
I am beyond hyped at this point. This last week will be excruciating! I even had a dream last night I was sitting in line for the midnight release. UGHUGUHUGGHGGGHHH

But the megatons are for the people that didn't preorder it and make them go "DAYUM, why didn't I preorder? I better buy one asap".
 
This is basically a Nintendo Direct on steroids, as I was suspecting. Fantastic :D
