Everytime I read this thread I just shake my head at all of the bitching and Nick picking. I honestly don't get the complaints. This show has been completely enjoyable for me so far.
 
Perhaps Warren Ellis should take over the show, introduce a darker version of the group, and have the vanilla team members gutted in an alien invasion. He's good at that sort of thing.
 
I enjoyed this last episode. Scorch is the type of side plot they should explore more with the weekly stuff instead of just standard secret agent spy stories in the Marvel universe.

Pretty much my reaction. Though I'm low-hanging fruit here; it'd take a lot to get me to quit watching before the season is out.

Anyhoo, best episode so far. Now can we please get on with the myth arc? Or introduce the Hypno-Hustler.
 
Definitely the best episode so far, but I tend to really like these kinds of episodes in a lot of series (Firefly's Out of Gas, SG-21's Abyss, etc.) Good character moments with pretty much everyone gelling, nice mix of humor without it getting to hammy.

Hoping they can keep it up.

Also, go Team Simmons!
 
I enjoyed this episode, that preview tweet was spot on. Cast chemistry is definitely improving.

Goddamn at the part where Ward was rescuing Simmons.

Bugged the hell out of me, why the fuck does he always have to be the hero? Fitz was about to jump out of the plane for her, but Ward has to save the day.

Let someone else save someone, goddamn.

Also I'm getting a badass motherly vibe from May.

If Fitz had dived, they both would've died since Fitz doesn't know shit about all that. And he did save her with the vaccine :p

It played off of Ward feeling helpless about not being able to do anything, and that's basically what he's supposed to do. He's basically the deus ex machina
 
Best episode of the series thus far. I don't know if the show is really improving as much as other folk, but I will say that'a the first ep I found truly engaging.

Still gotta keep that Ward/Simmons ship floating. /fangirl

Fitz would've fucked that up. He's not exactly trained to do anything athletic or daring like that. I do admit that Ward jumping out of the cargo with only one arm on the parachute was too much.

And does Coulson and May having a discussion about his medical records their way of tying up the mystery surrounding Coulson surviving? Is "Tahiti" his time declared dead for either 8 or 40 seconds, or is there actual, otherworldly intervention?

Naw there's still something else there. First episode they were all "he can never know the truth." 32 extra seconds aint no secret truth.
 
Holy shit that episode was crazy good. If the rest of the season has been C+ to B range, this episode was a straight A. It had awesome character moments (Coulson talking to the fireman, Ward confronting his inability to just punch his way through problems, Fitz/Simmons caring for each other, some top notch acting from Simmons, and a nice push forward of the plot).

If we get more episodes like this, this series could be something really special.

When May asked him to open his shirt, I thought it'd reveal some sort of metal armor or something. Even though every part of my brain was shouting, "No, that wouldn't make sense. How would Coulson not have noticed that? Do the writers think we're that stupid?"

Just for a moment I thought they did.

Agreed. I really liked the episode and like where the series is heading.

I just hope that now that it's really found it's footing that the ratings stabilize and it gets a few more seasons.

I was briefly expecting an Arc reactor :)
 
Good episode, I think they finally managed to hit the emotional notes they needed to make things stick more.
 
Great episode. Didn't quite hit as well as Firefly's "Serenity" (the pilot) or "Safe" but I think that cast was really just lightening in a bottle with their chemistry and connection to their characters in Firefly's case. Really enjoyed FitzSimmons throughout and Ward actually came across human when he admitted to not being amazing. Though I also feel like his self impression was off. Overall great though. Really enjoying the show.
