Good logic. Worth pointing out that there's no character that links Pokemon X/Y or Yoshi's New Island yet. ...Or Earthbound, or Game and Wario.

i think smash updates being good relates to both the mood and sobriety level I'm personally at when I check them.
Also holy hell at the amount of people who seriously thought FE's mascot was going to get swapped out with Lucina. I could see her and a Chrom tag-team still working though.

I've no idea if it's deliberate, but I get the impression Sakurai's screenshots have been trying to suggest that Peach is secretly a bit of a harlot.

Also I hope this means he isn't an unlockable this time. Him and Falcon really should have been available from the start for Brawl.

Good point. I think it's safe to say that all the representative characters from those series are safe, though. I'm more worried about the secondary characters like Lucas, Ike, Lucario, Wolf and Jigglypuff. I don't want them to get Mewtwo'd and unfortunately I feel like it's going to be a long time before Sakurai gets around to confirming any of those types of characters. I mean, we're still missing three of the original twelve characters as it is.
For a long time before I got into Smash (and while I only had rudimentary knowledge of Pokemon), I thought Marth was a mispronunciation of Meowth.

Jigglypuff will be the next character revealed, at this rate. And it'll link handily to XY.
Lucas/Ike/Wolf will probably be relegated to late-game unlockable (again, in Wolf's case) - I bet Ness becomes the readily available MOTHER rep again, thanks to the Earthbound re-release, and the same for Marth if Chrom doesn't show up. I think Lucario is safe but again, not exactly a headliner.
I don't think anyone gets cut, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some headliners from the last game become unlockables. Kinda like with Captain Falcon.

I think jiggles is pretty safe simply because she is one of the original 12. I think Wolf and Lucas are pretty safe because not much can replace them. Ike and the two pokemon are a little more worrisome. I think Ike is relatively good because of his unique move set and I think we will get at least one of those pokemon

That's definitely Arena Ferox. Which is fitting, SSB3DS Marth looks more like FE:A Marth than SSBU's Marth anyways.

What? Following that logic, it'd mean no other FE characters at all. And no ROB, Ice Climbers, Game & Watch or any retro character... I don't think they'd plan characters specifically around sites they could link to. Awakening isn't even really a new game compared to the other ones advertised there. Besides, they could just link to an eventual SMT x FE site if they take long enough to reveal an Awakening character.
