I remember when my cousins were talking about her being timeless and the next Madonna and shit. I just shook my head. Anyone with any life experience knows that artists like this only last for an album. Everything after her first was a decline and everything she has done since is completely irrelevant and extreme.
This dress is one of those things. I still find some of her songs catchy but she is not a pop goddess or anything.
MJ > JT > Madonna > Beyonce > Bieber.

Chris Hadfield did an amazing job, and picked a great song. There was earlier a Tiawanese business man that took the multi-mullion dollar Soyuz trip to the ISS and appparently he filmed a couple music video (as he was babysat by the cosmonauts onboard - dude was apparently a floating hazard). It was during one of astronaut Clay Anderson's stints up here, heard this in an interview with him.

Is it common for musically inept people to make a name for themselves by doing a shitload of acoustic performances with nothing but their voice and a piano? Because I'm not seeing a whole lot of other pop singers doing that.

I think The Fame Monster was better than her debut, but I do get what you mean. I think some were a bit too quick to hype her up, and what irks me about her image is that since she really first got popular she started becoming really focused on coming off as artistic, and it just ended up being pretty heavy handed.

I appreciate that we still have a pop star that embodies that larger than life persona. I think her ambition and gravitas is very similar to Michael Jackson in that regard. He just wanted to take things higher and inspire through iconography. She's always working harder than anyone else to do more, and she gets a lot of respect from me because of it.
Even if you're not a fan of hers you can't deny that she's incredibly ambitious and hardworking. She could easily take the easy road and release disposable songs for the charts and look pretty, but she chose a more interesting path. Appreciate that, coz it doesn't come around often.
