PlayStation 4 All Access on 11/14 - 11pm EST on Spike + Live Stream

Hehe, I thought Playroom was DoubleFine!

I do wonder what London studio is up to.

We know they're making a new engine for PS4. There were also a few rumours knocking about concerning Singstar F2P for PS3 and a job listing appeared a year or so back mentioning an AAA PSMove title for PS3.

They're a big studio so they could easily have 3/4 projects deep in development.

I imagine they'll remain Sony's casual studio for next-gen whilst also still heavily supporting the PS3. That's not to say they won't make a core title as we all know they have had several core projects in dev at one point (e.g. Eight Days, Getaway 3...)

Yeah, well obviously their Wonderbook stuff along with Singstar is quite important to them.

Hopefully they end up working on a core title.

Time for me to be the stealth elitist but I don't recall the Tenchu games being very good stealth games. They were extremely janky but without the depth or mechanics to back it up like Thief did.

Ditto. I can't remember which game I played (Tenchu 2?), but the controls were awful and the gameplay incredibly unsatisfying. That's a series best left in the past.

Is Wonderbook even doing well? I know Europe has some success with London's casual output, but Wonderbook feels... eh.

Singstar is okay though. :)

I remember they had lots of that infamous N64/PS1 "fog" too, because otherwise enemies showing up out of nowhere 20 feet away would be ridiculous but the systems couldn't handle anything more.

I mostly remember those early Tenchu games for their brutal stealth kills. At least brutal for its time.

Third person versus first person. Two totally different games.

Stealth is stealth. You either have the mechanics and the depth or you don't. The perspective chosen doesn't add or take away from anything by itself if done well. Splinter Cell, MGS and Hitman were all better stealth games too and those were all 3rd person.

It's no Thief. Tenchu games only became special once the level editor was introduced. Then it was great. No other stealth game with any sort of mechanics like that.

Of course, stealth mechanical depth was not the sole primary consideration of a Tenchu, since you could pretty much make levels that were just insane Prince of Persia-esque trap obstacle courses. It was a lot of fun. This is what I'd like to be a focus of any new Tenchu game, since it makes it unique once introduced.

They did? Hohokum is a prime example of a game that's under the WWS umbrella, yet we have no idea whether it's included as part of the "20 titles" since Sony haven't addressed whether cross platform titles are included. At least MS made it clear that it was X1 titles only.

I asked @yosp about Hohokum being part of the '20' months back, though he didn't give me a reply on that.

Everything else is pretty clear though.

1. Knack
2. Killzone : Shadow Fall
3. Driveclub
4. inFamous : Second Son
5. The Order : 1886
6. Res0gun
7. Helldivers
8. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
9. Rime
10. Shadow of the Beast
11. MLB 14 : The Show
12. Hohokum ( maybe?)

Even if we include Hohokum to the list, that's still 8 unannounced titles. Hefty.

Yeah, caught me off guard too.

Me: 20 exclusives, and 9 still unannounced? Surely 5 of them must be PS3 ports! (flow, etc) It makes more sense that only 4 are still unannounced for 2014!
@yosp: no, they are not part of the 20.
Me: :O

If we count the PS4 only titles it adds up to 9, what are the other 2 you've added to make 11?

Edit: lol, you mind if I borrow that time machine of yours?

If titles like Helldivers and Hohokum are included then surely Counterspy and even Doki Doki would be too?

Nightengale - One of them will be The Last Guardian. So 7.

Hohokum quotes the involvement of Sony Santa Monica, whereas Doki Doki and Counterspy don't.

Looking back at the interviews conducted with the devs of DD and CS also indicated that they don't work with any of the WWS resources.

Maybe I'm wrong, but nothing implies to me that those titles were somehow given the same pedigree of being promoted as a first-party title. ( I guess we can park them as 'maybes')

Counterspy is being assisted by Foster Studios I believe.

Perhaps a F2P MMO developed in-house at Sony Japan is happening? I have no clue what other 9 titles would be announced that could happen within the first year of launch. Whatever happens, I hope at least three or four of them are new IP.

Are you sure? Counterspy is also for Android/iOS. It seems strange they would have first party help in that case. :/

Yup

As much as I'd hate it, I think SSM's next IP could very well be the WWS F2P title that was rumoured.

So...

12. Hohokum
13. Counterspy

Only DokiDoki remains ???. Damn, why isn't it a launch title, then we can look at its placement on the PS4 FAQ to know at what category is it given.

13. CounterSpy
14. Doki Doki Universe
15. Unfinished Swan
16. Flower
17. Flow
18. Soundshapes
19. Escape Plan
20. Journey

If ports don't count, some worse case scenarios
15. Tarsier Studios new PSN IP
16. SuperMassive Games new PSN IP
17. Giant Sparrow new PSN IP
18. Zindagi Move game
19. London PS Eye game
20. Wish Studios new PSN IP

Best case scenario
15. Hotshots Game by Clap Hanz
16. Demon's Souls 2
17. Santa Monica new IP
18. Media Molecule new IP
19. Guerilla Games new IP
20. Uncharted 4

Even if we include Hohokum to the list, that's still 8 unannounced titles. Hefty.

Edited

Holy moly, I am just so excited for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

I... I just can't wait for that shit. I think I'm gonna change my avatar.

My guess is that Sony considers Playroom a full blown game, considering they have contracted Double Fine to work on DLC for that game. So that game would be part of 20.

If true, I guess Bend is working on something else?

Syphon Filter for PS4 maybe? Still don't really want Naughty Dog doing more Uncharted, lots of talent there to do something new, Uncharted won't reach the heights of The Last of Us to me.

TLoU was truly special but with how they set-up the story you could more in the universe with different characters, would like to see them do a new IP with something with multiple games in mind for the same characters. I don't have a problem with games planned as trilogies.

UnCharted seems like the natural choice, as they need to adapt their engine to new hardware. UnCharted is a known entity with known 'rules' takes away a lot of the work, especially if you want to get a game out in a reasonable amount of time. I'd imagine after that, they'll consider doing something new.

Uncharted isn't inFamous. There's no mid-word capitalization, hahaha.

Though I totally agree with your point.

Prob VGA though heh

Media Molecule
Sony Bend
Santa Monica
Naughty Dog

Infamous and Drive Club being released in early 2015. The Order being released presumably in the fall. Maybe a JRPG, maybe The Last Guardian, maybe Demon's Souls 2, etc. Once they announce what they truly have in development crow will be served.
