In Brawl, as soon as he announced Wario's costume he also said that he'd be the only one getting one. Considering how there was no such comment about the male Wii Fit Trainer, I'd expect more drastic changes like that. They wouldn't open space to speculation just to give bad news. They haven't really avoided giving "negative" news - remember all the interviews around E3 about how specific stuff wouldn't be in the game?

it's been around since Melee, in fact Roy's sword worked the opposite way (which was why he sucked)
afaik Ike's sword does damage completely independent of range though

Well, I felt bad that Qurupeke have to deal with a terrible, embarrassing avatar so I decided to make a new one and offer Qurupeke to change the avatar out of pity.
I offered it to Quru, and he denied it.
