I doubt there's gonna be bombs dropped at this event- no need, launch hype is enough to get people to buy.

Im guessing a handful of new indies, new infamous/mgs trailers, maybe an "the order" trailer, and perhaps some unannounced third party stuff. I could see GTA V for example.

Makes no sense to announce major exclusives at this point, IMO.

Major announcements at this point isn't targeted to gain more sales, they're targeted to weaken competitor traction.

It's not to get more buyers, it's to get the other camp to cancel their pre-orders.

I think a more important question to ask is if any of the unannounced games are PS4 exclusives.

I think that most of the unannounced stuff will be first party anyway hence exclusive.
Then there will be already announced multiplatform games which need promotion....like MGS Ground Zeroes.
Playstation 4 launch party isn't the proper event to announce a new multiplatform game for a third party company because they would associate their image too much with Sony, unless there's some kind of marketing deal with them and so some kind of exclusivity.
VGA is a better event to announce new multiplatform games and it's less than a month later.

Do we really expect Sony to have an unannounced fall title? I have a feeling they'll release The Order: 1886 in fall. Though that would be a risk as it's not an established title while going up against Halo 5 and Super Smash Bros.

I envisage The Order being out around the same time as TLOU was.

Sony have at least 5 unannounced 2014 titles. ( assuming nothing's changed from the E3 schedule )

At least one of them is almost sure-fire a VGAs announcement, which will naturally be a Holiday 2014 title.

Disregarding SSB for a sec (it will have its audience fo sho).
A new and fresh IP going up against one whos last iteration in the series had polarizing opinions with its fan-base wouldn't be so bad.

I personally hope NDs game slots in this area.

Do you really expect that Sony's 2014 lineup is made of Infamous, Driveclub (both launch window titles) and The Order? :P
There is much more to announce, until now Sony has mainly focused on launch titles.
With this event they'll start moving on to what's next.

Someone said there is a review event of sorts somewhere in NY tomorrow for media? Anyone where it is taking place? Should I go and try and get in? :) I am off from work tomorrow, Government holiday :)

I don't know. I don't expect anything in the first year of a new console. Me too hope there's a AAA fall title and there's a high chance of that happening. I will also be happy to see The Order out in the summer.

Mort has said Uncharted 4 is the Holiday 2014 title. I expect, like DBT85 mentioned above, that The Order will come right around E3, like TLOU did.

New games are bound to be shown at VGAs which is less than a month away. Exciting times ahead

I get the distinct impression the VGA's couldn't hold all the reveals that they were offered, so this launch event was made.

Sony presumably has more than a couple of retail exclusives for next year that need to be announced for their usual year marketing cycle. In addition to that there is an awful lot of companies that are yet to speak about or truly demonstrate what they've been working on, so the VGA's just wasn't enough I expect. So good on Geoff getting this televised.

So yeah, this will act as a prelude to the VGA's hopefully both offering big reveals.

I really just want new IP.

I loved Uncharted and think it's the best in the series. Uncharted 2 were great. Uncharted 3 were boring and took me months to complete because of that. Then Golden Abyss got the series rather back on track. I'm just fatigued by the series but won't complain if we get Uncharted 4 and I'll also buy it. I just rather prefer something new for a new console.

I feel the same.

But I also bet that when I see Uncharted next-gen I will go nuts.

I don't really care as long as it's games coming to the platforms I will buy or already have.

The excitement and inertia of the launch will make this all the better.

Time for a new thread. Yosp quits being and exec - Now a taxi cab tourist for travel firm in NYC!

@Dusky, it's probably just saying you can play it on a PS3 with a DS4 and expressing how cool it is by re-tweeting.

I want more new IP's too. I'd flip out for Uncharted 4 but overall I want a flood of new IP's. I don't want to replay last gen franchises for the most part. I'm done with the last 8 years.

iam definately expecting GTA 5 next gen exclusivity

I was thinking about that too. I even posted about it earlier in this thread.

What are the chances of Sony does the following assuming GTA V comes to next gen consoles:

A. GTA V PS4 exclusive

B. GTA V a timed PS4 exclusive

C. GTA V isn't a PS4 exclusive but, they do a MS COD like deal with Rockstar, where GTA V DLC is exclusive to PS4 for a month.

Sony have actually got a really great line up for the first half of 2014. Infamous, Driveclub, Diablo 3, The Order, Final Fantasy XIV, and some indie titles too I imagine. We might actually not get that infamous 'post-launch drought'. Maybe..
