Dom isn't perfect, by any means, but we're consistently winning with some semblance of a strategy. We still can't predict spawns and a lot of kills are still BS, but as long as you're playing with teammates, you should be fine. Playing with randoms though? Good luck lol.

You need the code and the disc to play. So if you do the upgrade you have to always use the PS3 version of the game in your PS4

It's seem clear to me what is happening in this first video. He is lagged and blaming it on the game. When his ammo goes to zero, it is probably because on the host, he has already died, and the code sets his ammo to zero. The reload animation and such still continues because the client code just runs that when out of ammo. The knife non-death is also lag. Like any game made since 1997, it has client-side prediction, and it isn't always accurate when your ping is very high.
One thing the video does make clear is that players with analog sticks benefit greatly from the autoaim. Geez, the guy just points in the general direction of someone and kills every time. I don't see him whining about how aiming at someone's feet while on a staircase results in him getting an insta-kill.
Just watched second game. Looks like lag again. Is this the PC version? Maybe the PC net code is wonky.

Played a bunch over the weekend, mainly Dom. The maps are really polarized that game type. There are some that allow you to flank around and actually feel pretty good (Sovereign) and then there are some where you get completely stuck in place by snipers (Stormfront). Although my KD is all over the place (similar to MW3), I'm still enjoying myself. If you want a less stressful experience, switch to Support killstreaks because the higher ones aren't too hard to get on Dom. The recon sniper is super fun, just don't get too close to the action because you get shot down fast.
First video is 100% 360 version. I'm 90% sure the second video is also the 360 version. Have you ever played CoD in lag? That's NOT how it looks. Seriously, go grab a 360 copy and go download some porn or something. It won't look anything like that. The game doesn't detect that you're dead (giving you zero bullets) without killing you. Also, there's no way that the players will be running that smoothly if he has a high ping. I imagine there's some sort of rollback system in place which causes players to teleport/stutter. Anytime I have lag, that's what happens.
Not meant to be offensive, but do you even play this game? Anyone who has a lot of console CoD experience wouldn't be calling this lag...

MW2 is fun if you don't like a coherent game IMO. The game is a mess balance wise. Too many explosions and speed knifers running around.
That doesn't look like lag but it looks like frame rate issues.
As for the ammo problem I think it might be related to the frame rate problem as it happens when the frame rate drops.
...Frame rate issues? We still talking about the 360 copy of the game? Any issues would be consistent across all copies that belong to the same console. I doubt you'd find many 360 owner saying they've experienced what's in that video.
EDIT: Oh you might be talking about my edit. That's what lag looks like in the console versions of the game. There's skipping around because of how the lag compensation works.

Seems like it's a bug with maniac, pretty simple. There must be something in the code that changes your gun damage to 0 when you're running maniac, but something breaks and changes all your damage to 0 instead. That explains why the knife damage did nothing even though he's getting hitmarkers. All software ships with bugs, I think this is no different.

I haven't picked up Ghosts yet, but I also went back and played some MW2 recently and it was fantastic.
Air Killstreaks all over the place, but I still had fun. OG Infinity Ward were the kings of map design. CoD4 and MW2 had some of the greatest multiplayer maps ever designed. I can't wait for Titanfall. I didn't really like MW3's maps all that much. Some of Black Ops and BO2's maps were ok too.
All this talk of crappy Ghosts maps has basically turned me off from picking up the game.
Most of the maps aren't THAT bad. The spawns are the real issue.
What the devs were trying to avoid is heavy camping. Unfortunately, in previous games any good player could easily take out a camper even if there were only one or two entrances into the camper's location. Now a good player can be more easily overrun controlling their zone, especially by being shot in the back. Not necessarily bad intentions, but some would say it makes for bad gameplay.

Ah, ok. I mean, to be fair, people complain about maps all the time when a new one comes out. It does take some time to learn them and get a feel for them.
It does sound like there is an issue though with the number of ways in and out of rooms. CoD4 and MW2 both were very smart I think with their sight lines and number of ways you could and couldn't go.
I think the problem with most of the maps is that some of them are far too large for the playercount, and almost all of them actually have TOO many points of ingress/sightlines. Combined with the seemingly worse than usual spawns (4v4 on the snow map it's spawning me literally 5 feet behind the enemy and vice versa) it's a hot mess. In a vacuum I agree that the maps are fine and people always bitch about most new maps no matter what. But with the million sightlines and ways in and out of most areas they seem to almost encourage the more run and gun craziness the last several titles have been about, but the game itself doesn't support that in the same way previous titles have (less crazy killstreaks, emphasis on gun combat, lowered playercount, etc).
The actual core gunplay feels pretty good to me, and I don't know if I'm just getting host all the time or something but the hit detection and lag feel better than the game has for years. But practically everything else is a complete mess.

Nobody really cares about servers on consoles and PC gamers don't really care about CoD.
A lot of players complain about everything when they lose. However, a lot of well known veteran players are complaining about these maps which suggests that the maps really do have issues. CoD4 had great maps. I wasn't a big fan of MW2's maps, but they were alright (too vertical for my taste though personally). However, these maps combine a lot of elements that people don't like together. For many, they're too big. For others, they're too open. For others, they're too difficult to navigate. It's difficult to play many playstyles on these maps like you could in other CoD games. For example, Bloc in CoD4 was great for snipers (in buildings or on the staircase) as well as run and gunners (inside buildings/on the edges of the map). I could tell you an optimal way to play any gun effectively (including a pistol class or a rocket launcher class). For a lot of the maps in Ghosts, ARs have a massive advantage. That being said, you can still do alright with any gun in the game, but it'd take some adjustments. Some people don't like that.

People complaining about getting shot in the back have clearly forgotten over the past few years what it was like to play on maps that weren't the size of an Efficiency Apartment

I really like all of the maps except for two of them. Flooded and Chasm are just broken.
Chasm's B flag is a clusterfuck. Domination B is supposed to be hard to take, but that one is just absurd. And the area around C flag is too easy for a sniper or camper to pick people off. You can't fix that.
Flooded's, C flag I think it is, is also broken, the one in the parking garage at the ground level is nearly impossible to take without dying. There are far too many directions to watch without getting pulverized.
Every other map can probably be adjusted with safer spawns. There's no way to create perfect spawns in any game, but spawning in a hail of bullets or out in the open before you even get your bearings is just wrong. I shouldn't have to get 6 kills only to die 5 times because I'm stuck is a bad spawn loop against a good spawn trapping team. There are enough safe zones to prevent that.
The rest of the maps have a good layout and flow to them, and a way to approach things without getting shredded.
I like the way the maps are laid out. The 3 lane maps were getting stale, while these feel much more organic. But you can't expect to win very many games solo anymore, you need teamwork to get the win unless you have a really great player who also has lag working in his favor.
But I think the biggest problem aside from spawns, maybe bigger than that, is that the unlock system is just brutal for newcomers. Early on it takes way too many squad points to get anything good. Either double XP needs to become the new normal XP, or the cost of the weapons needs to go down. There are plenty of challenges and modes for people to keep playing. Locking all that stuff up is not fair to newcomers or solo players. Too many are going to give up or not give the game a fair shake. And a lot of that has to do with the unlock system. I already have a major advantage by knowing the maps, having the unlocks in addition to that is going to turn the newer players off bigtime, especially because wins give me more squad points. I have a class for Whiteout that gets and keeps B very easily. That class alone is probably 70 squad points.

Especially 6V6. With (true) dedi servers on PC you would have 64 player matches. Maps like that would better IMO.
I'm about 99% sure that Machinima either took money in exchange for a better score/review or they lied to try to keep interest in their videos. If you think about it, Machinima needs to get high volumes of views on their AAA game videos, Call of Duty probably being one of their top 2-3 properties. If the game is a massive stinker, people won't care, and their video views will drop, hurting their ad revenues.
When you hear that the Machinima review talks about "expertly designed maps" for the multiplayer, you know they're covering up problems intentionally.

Yep. It truly is the worst of the bunch IMO. Way too busy for me. It takes forever to get to the different points when playing Domination. Feels like a damn chore.
I really can't wait to see if an additional 6 players will make a difference on these bigger maps.

This is an example of a map that seems messed up badly, but isn't in the least. The solution is you need a team. If you get one guy to take down the snipers across the street, and one guy taking down snipers in the main building, getting flags becomes easy. Stormfront on Domination is the perfect example of a map you can't go in expecting to win it solo.
I saw the post but it's not clicking with me. I don't really need squad points anymore, so whatever, but if there's any takers out there who can make sense of it, a video would be nice for the newcomers.
The game, as it is now, is rotten no matter the platform. The maps are atrocious and the spawn system is downright broken. It really needs a full overhaul before I'd say it's even recommendable to CoD fans.

Despite all the hate I'm reading in this thread (and it sounds like more hate than usual for CoD), I have my PS4 copy and I'm really looking forward to playing it. Maybe I'll be sorry for saying that.
I've got both BF4 and Killzone also but for some dumb reason, I'm looking forward to CoD the most. It might actually be the first game I put in my PS4.

The maps are very different from the older games. They are wide open maps, but the layout makes sense for most of them so I don't get those problems. The spawns suck. IMO, two of the maps are actually bad, like not just "this sucks" but "fuck this shit, delete them please". You need teamwork for objective modes, you cannot solo to the extent you could in the older games and expect to win. The rest seems pretty balanced assuming dedicated servers go up for the consoles, and more people start playing on PC, if IW ever gets their shit together and cleans up the technical issues that shouldn't be happening.
Machinima lives off of CoD and AAA shooters in general. They aren't going to attack the hand that fed them

Rented the 360 version from Redbox. After my first few matches I thought it was the worst multiplayer game I've ever played. But I realized this game isn't made to run and gun like previous CODs. I find my self going into the nearest building, placing a IED at one entrance, and trying to control that section of the map. Overall, I'm enjoying it. May pick it up Black Friday.
