Almost never before 5pm, which is why I'm calling UPS to have them hold it for pickup at my service center as soon as I have the tracking number.
 
I got lucky and grabbed a pre-order from Best Buy Canada today someone must have cancelled. They charged me right away today so hopefully now they ship within the next two days for friday.

Are you sure? I've ordered several things online and never had to sign for anything. I had an HDTV delivered a couple months back and no one was home, it was left in front of my door without a signature. I can't remember the last time I ordered anything that required a signature.
 
You know what, I've been pretty much ok up until this week, but now the jelly is really kicking in. Gutted I have to wait until the end of the month here in the UK, but oh god it will be worth it.

Question for anyone else who pre-ordered just the standard launch edition from Amazon. How much will I be charged when it ships? $400? Or am I going to get charged tax?
 
It's a bit premature for the "they haven't shipped it" bitching. I'd give it until at least Wednesday, wherever you may have ordered from.

I think it depends on where you live. Amazon doesn't collect sales tax in all states, if you live in one of those you will be fine. If you check your orders page on Amazon you'll see an order total, you should be charged whatever that amount is.
 
I've always thought that shipping from online retailers with regards to release date/embargos is silly. Sony should allow places like Amazon to ship them the day before (since most people are getting their console Thursday night). Is ONE day really going to kill them. Plus in my case, UPS almost always ships to my house very late at night (usually 8pm). =/

Dah well. I can wait.

anything over $100 on Amazon.com requires a signature. i can't remember the last time i ordered something from them that didn't require it

Contacted amazon.ca support as to why my launch edition PS4 that I pre-ordered in June isn't coming on release day, but a week later.

"I am so sorry to say that Release-Date Delivery is unavailable for the Launch Edition of the PlayStation 4."

I must not have ordered anything over $100 on Amazon before (the TV was purchased elsewhere). I did pay the PS4 off with gift cards, not sure if that makes a difference, but I guess I'll find out on Friday.

Not if it's from Amazon.ca. Last thing I pre-ordered from them (a book) had a release date of Oct 15th, arrived on the 24th.

Every time I order something with release day shipping from amazon they ship the night before, sometimes the shipping info doesn't update till the morning of release lol. I wouldn't expect any early shipping from amazon.
 
I mean we know retailers have the consoles at this point and if they are charging people already I would expect that they ship out either tuesday or wednesday because there would be no reason to charge right now if something wasn't about to happen.

I've been using Amazon for 5 years. I order things well over $500, and rarely do I have to sign for anything. Isn't up to the seller to decide if it needs a signature?

I mean, given that these consoles are hot items, maybe they might require it. But in my experience, you don't need to sign for something over $100 on average with Amazon.

EDIT: that's strange. WTF. Like I said, I've been using Amazon for years, and buy items well above $100. What state do you live in? Maybe it's different by state. I dunno what else it could be. I think it's also up to the driver's discretion. Maybe because I have a lot of cars at my house at all times, they figure we have people actively here. But I never have to sign for anything.

Same here. Most games ship the day before for me. I think the only time they didn't overnight something is got the daft punk album early.

paying with a gift card doesn't make a difference. you will be signing for that package on friday. i live in NYC... not sure if that makes a difference

If you're talking about shopto they took payment for Xbone last week (afaik) so in theory you'd be looking at this week for PS4 payments to be taken....they told me that minimun 10 days before launch but if they're doing Xbone last week then this week would match up
 
I have a PS4 Launch Edition pre-ordered from Amazon, but money is tight and I have a large PS3 backlog, so I'd pretty much decided to just cancel the pre-order and wait until next year.

Reading all these threads has got my adrenaline going, though. I've got about $100 Amazon credit, so I might be able to swing it.

It's completely ridiculous though. I probably wouldn't buy any games, and would just play the PS+ freebies and cross-buys.

Should I be sensible and wait, or less my tech/gaming junkie side overrule my better judgement?

Honestly don't cancel. Even if you don't want it you could sell it off to another gaffer. Someone will buy it and probably for more than what you will pay.

But if it was me and I was right on money? I would buy it and keep it and enjoy it ; )

It wouldn't kill them, it would kill their brick and mortar partners. Those partners would cry out to the high heavens about how they were being screwed by letting online deliver before they could sell the product.

Well I can say that I had pre ordered as soon as it was available on the the Canadian Amazon site (June 10th). They even broke down the time of 8:17PM was when it was processed.

Anyways, I had selected Priority shipping and it STILL states that it will be delivered on the following Monday-Tuesday 18-19th. There's a *chance* that I can see it on the Friday. She stated that since I had selected Priority shipping, my order gets bumped up the shipping queue.

She gave me $5 off my next purchase and that was that... I don't think I'll be seeing it on the official launch date. My fingers are still crossed though.

And as it's been stated earlier, Amazon Canada is a totally different beast then in the US.
 
I called GameStop was placed on hold for 30 minutes to get a hold of customer service to update some CC info....which I didn't need to as my powerup rewards card had enough moolah to pay everything. Asked about my driveclub bundle because i replied to the email back when they sent it out.....they get my response about knack and everything.

It seems though that I have to call the day my PS4 ships so they can create a new order with knack....they didn't want me to lose my spot....plus my PS4 has already been locked to my account (they are literally sitting there serial tied and everything to online orders already.) Which means my PS4 is sitting in a warehouse tied to my name waiting to be shipped :(......so close.

Thanks for the update. Cancelled my Amazon.ca order. Weirdly, I don't even care that much if my Future Shop order doesn't make it by Friday night, I just didn't want to pay for TWO PS4s and have to deal with returning one.

You can sign waivers with UPS and/or FedEx for them to leave things without a signature all the time. I haven't had to sign for a package in years at my house. They just leave it on the porch whether it's a TV, computer or just a blu-ray.
