Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Didn't they say it was 3DS-only, though? I mean I guess Smash 4 is for 3DS technically, but I don't see anything super-exciting being revealed in tomorrow's direct.

Prove me wrong, Sakurai!

what the hell are they going to talk about that's 3ds related? Zelda? Mario Party?

there will be wii u stuff, there will be a Japanese direct, and god damn it, we're getting Sheik tomorrow.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but likely not in the past few pages or so... What are the chances we see this guy in the game?

Oh man, I hope so.

Mad hype if he is announced.

Honestly, I didn't really care much. But then I realized the game could get more exposure this way, along with a team up with Captain Falcon would be pretty damn awesome. :3

Plus he's be pretty interesting and would definitely bring something new.

If a new character gets announced tomorrow at all, make sure to be here for the festivities.

Just the tip!

Man, I kind of want a Wii U now.

I'm getting one today.

As a single character he's not really interesting at all. If they somehow incorporate the squad based gameplay we'd have something, but as a single unit none of the characters from Wonderful 101 are notable in their abilities.

"If it isn't the legendary multi-time F-Zero champion, pilot of the Blue Falcon, and bounty hunter extraordinaire - Captaaaiiiin FALCON!"

Why must you shoot down my hopes and dreams. :c Things can be made up! And-And.. I dunno. I've never played the game, but I would want the game to get more exposure and SSB4 would do it.

T-T It must happen! But it won't... Unless you dance!

Alone, Wonder Red would be boring, pointless, and a poor representation of his game. The Wonderful Ones together as a group is really the only way to actually do it properly, and I don't see that as technically feasible in Smash Bros.

And even beyond that, The Wonderful 101 is pretty far down the hierarchy in terms of unrepresented franchises that could potentially get a character. Like, below Chibi Robo low. Too recent to have had any weight in Nintendo's history and a commercial flop that hardly anyone played; I have a hard time seeing Nintendo ever even bothering to revisit the IP in the future. The exposure for the character doesn't make much sense for Smash Bros. either--by the time SSB4 comes out, TW101 will be very old news.

In short, The Wonderful 101 will be lucky to get an Assist Trophy or a song.

EDIT: I say this as someone who's bought and loved TW101 by the way.

I could see TW101 working if they are really creative with the transforms and stuff. It would be hard though, especially making it viable on 3DS. Like have Wonder Red visible mostly except during specials where the other wonders appear. Or have a stance change where the other wonders switch out and you can use their weapons.

Just for fun and to get back OT:

I really wanted to compare the difference between Sonic's models and those 3DS shots from out of the blue were helpful to that end. More later if I did this right.

I feel like these really summarize what Sakurai meant when he said the Wii U version will be able to show off Smash brothers in a whole new light, with emphasis on lighting and particle effects, etc. Not to say that I'm not in love with the 3DS ver. because it's the only one I'm getting until further notice but there it is.

I think the 3ds version is going to be several times the sales as the WiiU sales.

Which is funny the few media we've gotten on that version despite it obviously being bigger seller.

I'd prefer TW101 content in the vein of trophies and a track or two and whatnot. Like Green Mamba said, you can't really take just one character from that game and do it justice.

They aren't terrible, and they take forever to make, speaking from experience, so just stop.

I calls it like I sees it. I understand the novelty of playing as a character who didn't make the cut through mods, but then you have stuff like this and it's honestly just a laughable representation of the character. Sorry if I touched a nerve?

I can appreciate the effort that goes into making a Brawl mod, but I would certainly agree that none of the Ridleys created thus far do the character justice. He's always too small, lanky, and awkward -- he looks like a baby.

Being lanky and awkward looking is half of Ridley's character.
