Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

How do most PSP games look on the Vita screen? There are a few I'd like to pick up when I get mine. Counting down the days...
They look great. I thought 2D games were going to look awful given the resolution, but they turned out really nice. 3D games that have a lot of dithering are kind of barf for some reason, though.

They look great to me, been playing P3P, Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, God Eater, Metal Slug and Patchwork Heroes transfer real well to the OLED screen. A much crisper, colorful picture.

Also, customizable controls are a godsend, especially for games like RE1,2,3.

Vita resolution is exactly quadruple PSP resolution, so PSP games are displayed with 2x2 pixels.

And if you somehow don't like how sharp and clean it looks, there's also an optional bilinear filter you can enable, if that floats your boat.

2D games look nice. 3D games look horrible.

Thanks guys! I want to play The Third Birthday but it sounds like it may not look so good :lol

The horrible 3d comments are a -little- overstated. So long as you don't check color space most psp 3d games look about the same as they did on psp, just put on a bigger screen.

Flower is on the store now if you search for it. Only 7 dollars. It should be cross-buy too.

If anyone downloads it let me know how it runs. As long as its native res I'll probably buy it.

I'd love some impressions of Flower and Injustice, if anyone has them. Both look pretty nice, and I'm looking for a place to throw my $10 PSN credit.

Stick It To the Man is available for Pre-order. But not for Vita. So basically no buy. I hope the reviews are good news -_-.

Is there a Stick it to the Man pre-order discount for PS3? It *is* cross-buy. Tempted if this is the case.

It's crossbuy anyway and the Vita version is delayed. It makes sense to only have the PS3 version for preorder.

No, you were top poster in August, September and October ;)

Oh bother. That's what happens when Toto/Takao/Toma/etc. all up and go do something else. P

Yes, it's a retroactive cross buy game.

Yeah, shame the SEN store doesn't know how to handle it.

I feel like the Vita's nice clicky buttons couldn't take the hammering that game requires

DJ MAX requires buttons? I guess I haven't played enough of it yet?

that came out today??? definitely downloading when i get home.

Indeed, downloading now.

Started LIMBO today. I'm liking it a lot.

Just saw that Don't Starve will also come to the Vita. Unfortunately, it will be delayed compared to thePS4 version but at least it is coming :)
Hope it will be crossbuy because PS+ already gets the PS4 version.

Yes, you will get the PS4 and Vita version for free.
While we are talking about it, it is an open secret that Sony also ports Journey and Unfinished Swan to the PS4. With the recent ports (Sound Shapes, flOw, Flower, Escape Plan) the Vita also got a version. So I guess we can hope for Journey and Unfinished Swan, too? I mean it wouldn't make seense to port Flower but not Journey, with the latter being much better received critically. I can understand flOw because it's technically pretty simple but Journey and Flower shouldn't be too different from a technical difficulty standpoint.
Jeez. This is all news to me. A Vita version of Don't Starve, Cross-Buy SITTM, probable ports of PS3 to Vita games, which I all have. Which, btw, I don't think that's how porting works. I don't think just because a game is bigger or prettier that it's harder or easier to port. That's just me though, and I don't know anything. Maybe famousmortimer know something?

EDIT : The store doesn't show any PS+ Discount for SIITM. If it's not there during pre-order. I doubt it'll happen at all.

Velocity Ultra is out now for PS3. I'd be interested in checking it out but not only does it not have Cross Buy, it also has the Curve tax.

Oh well, the game is highly recommended if you have a Vita! Free demo too, check it out.

Nice! Already have it on the PS3 so it was free!

It's not native res, but still looks good. The res is higher than games like Gravity Rush or Uncharted. Probably has the same res as LBP Vita. However what is extremely frustrating is that there are no physical controls aside from holding a button to go forward. With the touch controls, you use the sides of the screen to steer, and the rear touch mad to move forward. No other options :(

Technica Tune is the only one that doesn't (not counting the few mobile entries). The series is traditionally button-based.

That's the only reason I haven't bothered giving it a second chance, despite PS+ giving it to me.

I suck at Rhythm games, and Project Diva is the only one that I have really played the entire series of (minus Dreamy Theatre).

P.S. If you're on JP PS+, Ore no Shikabane wo Koeteyuke (PSP ver I think) will be available on Free Play on Nov. 20.

snip to not annoy people with a massive screen quote

Yeah, I played Vita Flower at E3 this year, and thought it looked great on the OLED, and, well, it was Flower. I mean, not much to say about it. I love that game, so I'll enjoy it on Vita just like I did on the PS3. I'll be downloading my PS4 version when it's out as well.

Cross-posting some Injustice Vita first impressions:

Okay, it finally downloaded.

The first thing most people will probably do is switch L and R as they seem mapped weird to me by default.

The port's pretty in person, though obviously not as gorgeous as the console versions. It's definitely a step up from MK9. It also seems to run fine, though I'd have to test some more to see if there are horrible frame drops during more hectic stuff on complicated stages.

Sound quality is great with no obnoxiously annoying compression, thank goodness.

Loading between fights is maybe a couple seconds longer than loading on console, while loading to character select seems to take just ever so slightly longer than it should.

Very, very pleased so far! :D

Any Injustice impressions yet?

Seems you found some, but I should think that video I posted from NYCC would've been solid and at least gave you some idea of what the visuals looked like and confirm that it was 60fps.

Nice! Already have it on the PS3 so it was free!
No other options :(

I don't remember any controls other than SixAxis on PS3.

hope the game lasts forever.

For 20gbp, I doubt it.

Not played the PS3 version of flower so I don't know how it is supposed to control, those screens seem okay, but sucks when they don't give you options (unless they ruin the experience).

Can't wait.

Where are you finding this stuff!

I know I wanted to see loads more Tearaway after them showing the tutorial stage over and over but now it's like maybe they've shown too much, hope the game lasts forever.

Just got a Vita with Mortal Kombat, Resistance, Soul Sacrifice, medium sized carrying case, trigger grip, 4gb mem stick, and 8gb mem stick off Ebay for $140 bucks.

Pretty good deal if I do say so myself. Should get here Saturday, beyond hyped.

I don't really think this is terribly unreasonable. Native without 60 fps is kinda silly, but 30 fps as a standard for streaming seems fine to me, at least this early in the game.

Phoenix soul sacrifice before

They have a Tumblr page.

Injustice has the same audio clipping/popping issue that a million other Vita games have. I'm starting to think it's the Vita's audio chip or whatever.

I'm gonna try lowering some of the sound settings to see if that mitigates it like with BlazBlue.

Sale on Portable 3 and not Technika Tune? :x
Dying for a button controlled Vita DJMax.
Portable 3 got me tempted to get Technika, which I hadn't heard about until today. I dumped hundreds of hours into Ouendan/EBA, so it looks right up my alley.

But got damn it's one expensive series. $19 for a PSP version, a whooping $44 for the Vita one... Hell, it's even slightly cheaper to get it shipped from Play-Asia.

What other games? I've never experienced this
I think the only other Vita game I've noticed with any sound issues is AC3:L
When sound effects get too busy, the audio sometimes shits itself and starts clipping/making popping noises. I think people who messed around with Sound Shapes a lot ran into this problem the most. =\

It's worth it. DJMAX is the cream of the crop when it comes to fun button charts. Technika Tune was disappointing in this area because of its simplified touch controls, tbh.

Is the Technika Tune demo only on the HK store or something? No-show on the US and JP stores. Oddly enough however, Technika Tune is only 3300 yen on the JP store. That's like $33-35 converted if you can use a US credit card, why is it so much cheaper to import? Weird.
Also a shame that Clazziquai isn't on the store, that one was the most beginner friendly I thought.

I have PS+ for my Vita only, but want to download or activate the PS4 games on PS+ for when I buy a PS4 in the New Year, is there a way to do this ?!?! Can I do it on the PC and Sonys website !?!

Thanks for the help, I really want Resogun for free, but might not be able to buy a PS4 until Easter :(

You should be able to do it on the SEN store online, then they get added to your download list for later when you get a PS4.

So Frost I asked Sid again but it seems like higher ups haven't got back to him. So knowing SCEA higher ups he might never heard them again. So just upload your soul sacrifice data to the cloud and delete off your Vita until Delta.

We'll meet again in Toukiden, you too ZeroAKA, ‏‏baekshi, and Agent.

It's not like I'm hurting for space at the moment with that shiny new 64gb card.
I just miss playing with you guys.

And for me, at the moment, there is no "until Delta". It's just... "delete it and be done with it" when it happens. :P
