He took the HDD out, and managed to boot into safe mode. Whether or not the removal of the hdd had anything to do with him booting into safe mode is unknown. He then simply reattached the HDD and voila.

Yeah, that is what I meant with my post. Not sure why people assumed I meant to have him pay for it. Pizza places have always asked for my credit card if they didn't have my name/number on file and they check the caller ID anyway.

So in the end, he just messed up his HDD by cutting the power at the wrong time.

Removing the HDD, turning the system on without it, and putting the HDD back in revived his system... OP of this thread needs to try this.

Amazing how people are defending Sony after the fact that the download for the game hung and thats why he turned it off. Do you know how many times my vita used to hang after trying to download something? I've left it on for hours and it was still stuck "loading" my download. A forced shut off is all you can do sometimes.

He pulled the plug thats not a forced shut off. Everyone who knows a tiny bit about electronics knows you dont just unplug em you hold the power button till the system turns off.

Still, its seems that the PS4 still has the same flakey issues regarding firmware and updates as the PS3.


And id advise against

:- Updating online. Use a USB key and update in safe mode.

:- downloading game updates until you have check they are safe online.

:- Background downloading of content

at least until the next few software updates.

You've been defending this guy this whole time and I have no idea why. He's been doing everything wrong and it was only through the insistence of the chat and him clumsily doing this stuff that it's fixed now. He doesn't deserve a single defense from you and unless you were there at the start of these issues I wouldn't take his word that he didn't cause this problem himself.
