Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

These damn blue-hairs are taking everyone's slots.

Blue is better than every other observable color and some only perceived by this guy

Regarding the earlier talk of the PacMan, Little Mac, and Mii rumor, the idea that they were originally going to be shown at E3 2013 but held off at the last minute seems a little off to me, as the Smash Developer Direct was likely made some time in advance and they aren't in it. Though I suppose it's possible, if they are in, that the person told was told long before the Developer Direct was made, but... I don't know, something about the rumor doesn't sit right.

But at the same time, I can't dismiss it completely. Someone knew something for sure, so I have to wonder where those other three characters came from. If wires got crossed somewhere... where did they come from in a Smash Bros. context? I mean, if they were just flat out made up, why insert them with a bit of genuine news? Were there two sources that someone compiled, one real, one false? I don't know. I can't wrap my head around it, but I still think there is something to it. Maybe.

When I went back to watch the E3 videos again, I realized something--the Wii Fit Trainer's reveal was handled really oddly. I know the Developer Direct video being released before her reveal trailer and her character page on the official site, so the timing got screwed up a bit there. Was she held off for a few hours just to pull that silly surprise on the gaming press? I don't know, it strikes me as odd to reveal the game alongside two newcomers... and then reveal a third newcomer only a few hours later.

EDIT: Also, I want more video footage. That 25 seconds of footage with the Sonic reveal wasn't enough...

Maybe they knew WFT would cause a mini shitstorm so they held off until a bit later so everyone could discuss the reveal and not get bogged down in WFT whining.

I honestly believe that Nintendo DID hold off on Wii Fit Trainer as a joke on the gaming press. I mean, did you see the reaction from Keighly? Priceless.

Nintendo is really silly.

I am not on board with the Mii idea.

Playing against Jesus, Mr. Bean and Random Johnny online seems so stale.

These damn blue-hairs are taking everyone's slots.

Nintendo really needs to build an electric fence around their headquarters.

Wasn't the WFT reveal disguised to the press as a hands-on with Wii Fit U?

Default Miis would lose a lot of the appeal in my opinion. I don't wanna play against an endless barrage of Michael Jacksons and Dr. Phils, but the customization aspect is the only thing interesting about a playable Mii to me.

I want Miis to be have customizable move sets and you can disable them from the settings.

Because to be honest Miis would be pretty boring as is, plus we have Villager as a human avatar with props. I want to see Miis all crazy and unbalanced.

Yeah, I recall some people being a bit irked because they thought they were going to see Wii Fit U.

No they didnt know what it was, nintendo just said they had one last surprise for them, they were like "ohh new game?" then it showed up as wii fit (U) and everyone went "uggghhh" then it turned into smash bros and everyone went "lolwat"

Miis where you can animate their moves so they can be the smash version of this please.

I think we might get some beefy news sometime in December - it would be about 6 months since the trailer at E3, so they might use the opportunity to give us some more footage and a newcomer or two on top of that.
Maybe even in anticipation of the Christmas sale, cause Smash hype might boost sales of the wii U a bit.

What if there is a mii playable, and it's
Nikki

Her final smash is getting mad at inappropriate images and ending the match

This is what I'm hoping for. Big news at E3 2013, big news six months later in a pre-Christmas Nintendo Direct, and big news six months later at E3 2014. That makes sense to me... but Sakurai rarely makes sense. Dammit!

Yeah, news at E3 2014.... after the game's release.
lol

From all the liveblogs I followed, it seemed that Nintendo told the press that there'd be some surprise as the end of their mini showing, and people were expecting Wii Fit U due to its absence on stage. Then people were disappointed that their predictions came true when Wii Fit Trainer appeared, and then after that....

Just look at Trinen's face. You know they did it to troll the press. Nintendo's weird. Just look at the beginning of their latest Nintendo Direct.

I haven't. A link please!

I can't find the link, but it's in some of his interviews. He's just bashing on Nintendo building up the hype and making fun of them for making their biggest news the Wii Fit Trainer.

Nintendo's trolling did its job.

Sakurai called in sick.

sakurai has it all ready but he is having trouble moving his fingers after play testing the new kid icarus dlc so he cannot click the button to put up the image
