I think she'll be playable too. Starship Mario seems to be part of the stage instead of the Comet Observatory, so I don't think we'll see Rosie in the stage.

I had speculated in the IRC that this stage would have a special gravity mechanic!
I was wrong about how they would implemented it, though: I figured you would be able to travel fully around the stage, and that it would have a black hole in the middle for meteor smashes.
But hey, I'll put the second part of my speculation here for posterity: the WiiU Sonic stage will most likely use a very, very similar, if not identical, mechanic, seeing as Lost World has a very similar gravity mechanic, and it seems kind of silly to let this really neat mechanic only get used on one stage. What's more, we already know from Sonic's debut trailer that his stage curves like how this one does.

Looking at the top-right of this one, does anyone else feel like the larger moon might be playable? Like, if you hop up onto it you can snap into its gravity. It looks too big to just be a background detail.
That's what I'm hoping for. There wouldn't be much point to the gravity gimmick if all it does is make the stage not look flat.

Remember, that's what people said about Toon Link when the Spirit Tracks stage was shown, and look how that turned out.

And then it'll just wind up just being another generic log bridge over a raging river for the third/fourth time in a row, but this time with a slightly more Returns-y looking jungle.
I'm personally rooting for either minecarts *finally* showing up in the DKC-portion of Smash or them somehow integrating the silhouette stages from Returns.
She's definitely the most interesting choice for a Mario newcomer. Now excuse me while I hide from all the Bowser Jr./Toad/Waluigi fans.
Either of those ideas would be fantastic to implement in a stage. Sakurai's got a lot of stuff to pick from with Returns/Tropical Freeze.
Yea i hope it doesn't too. I could see her having a distinct move set that seperates her from being peach clone but I would prefer if some other franchises' got more reps first. She would make a good assist trophy though.

I agree, but in a way the appearance of the stage helps her more then it hurts if that makes sense.

I would like either of those 3 in the game, but I still think Rosalina is the most interesting and has the most potential for an interesting moveset.
You could give her a whole theme of space-based magic (like summon gravity fields etc.), she has a wand and she also has Lumas to throw around.
The only one I see to be interesting beyond her is Bowser Jr. if only for his paintbrush making him a potential polearm user (that also is >>>> Krystal jftr).

I am feeling a potential Zelda reveal next week however. (And I am potentially very excited.)
As far as artstyle if/when Zelda is revealed, I'm sure it'll be a more colorful TP style Zelda.
Whether or not this is the only part of the stage, I love what I'm seeing.
But it would be crazy if that was the case.
I guess that edges make sense here. Making a full planetary level that was gravity based would probably end up being a cluster fuck. I'm sure they probably tested it, or at least I hope.

Rosalina for Smash would be cool, I guess and I mean Waluigi could always be grouped with Wario so there's hope yet.

Mini-Link has precedent, and so do stages based on the previous consoles 3D Mario game.

I guess. Thing is, I just got a brand new console (PS3... Yeah, I am extremely late to the party), there is a ton of games I want to buy, plus two or three 3DS titles... I just have no money for the Wii U. I am starting to hope Smash isn't released until late 2014. But that is off-topic, I guess.
