That doesn't exactly equal development though. Ozai kind of had everything when avatar started. Sure dude had to move some troops around, but it seems most of the intelligent work and development were had by his troops and his son and daughter rather tham himself. Ozai was just used as a figure head to allow all that to happen, Ozai did not need depth and Nuance, Ozai just needed to be a jerkface because he did not have to work for anything.
Unlaq while cleched very bleach-esque motivation, still had to kind of be a person. And we were provided to a bit more of his personality. Sure he is loki , but the end of the day, were exposed to far more water loki than fire vegeta. Sans books.

I just want to preempt criticism of the Dark Avatar plot.
Everybody expected it because it was the natural way forward, the one that made the most sense narratively.
So no complaints about it not being the best way forward for the story. SO far, I'm loving it.
And oh shit, Vaatu is out.

because Nickelodeon is dumb
and to intentionally sabotage the ratings for next week, because whoever is in charge of deciding when the episodes air is not the same person in charge of deciding what shows get picked up

Doesn't even make sense because Wan and Raava still had to go and collect and learn every element from the turtles.

I don't think I'm gonna like the fact that the "Dark Avatar" will probably be able to bend all 4 elements without the turtles (just a guess..no spoilers here). Ugh
Yep, what Htown said. Still premiering on Nick next week as usual, but will be up on Nick tonight, Seems like it will kill ratings. They want to kill Korra indeed. I'm not sure what has been up with Nick all season long.
Today. Nick asked for 10,000 Tumblr reblogs of a post, and they got them, so the fans were rewarded with an early release.
They want to kill Book Two as quickly as possible. The ratings were down, they fucked with the schedule, and the ratings went down further. They fucked with them again, and it just kept getting worse.
As I've been saying, Book Three will be back to Saturday AM.

I'm not expecting for Unalaq to have the same bending abilities as Korra (or at least, they should explain how he gets them).
Can I just make a quick request. Can we be considerate in regards to spoilers? I'm not sure if we should stick to the rules (i.e. tag everything until it airs next week), but at the very least keep spoilers to a minimum until everyone gets a chance to watch it this weekend. So when discussing episodes 13 and 14 this weekend, have the courtesy to tag them and be very specific what episode they're relating to.
Obviously I can't enforce this, but the circumstances are a bit unorthodox here, and it'd be nice if the thread didn't go to complete and utter shit with people visiting, not knowing about the Nick.com early release, and being spoiled.

Really liked these two episodes
Fantastic action showing and some great humorous scenes especially Bumi saving the gang
Nice to see bolin actually doing some good stuff
still a few niggles about certain stuff Korra Amnesia and lin but they were thankfully pushed to the back to focus on the main plot at hand
No lets hope that nicks servers can handle the extra traffic when the release the episodes later tonight

So my review of the special.
+There were some amazing action sequences.
+The animation was superp.
+Some side character got the spotlight they have desperately needed.
+I liked the tense moments dealing with Jinora. Nicely handled drama.
+Though Unalaq is still ridiculously predictable, he does seem like a threat at least.
+Varrick. Must I really elaborate.

-Lin and her detectives really were that dumb

These were good episodes, sure, but "excellent"? Either I'm really far removed from a lot of people in this thread or Book 2 has just lowered people's expectations a ton.

I'm leaning more towards a spoiler thread, even this late into the season. This is unusual for a TV thread, and since the finale is pretty much being released first as "on demand" there's no schedule, so people will watch them at their leisure. That, in my view, makes it closer to a game OT and as such you need to be considerate of where people are in the series. Doubly so since this has changed from a scheduled weekly show to the last two episodes being on-demand.
I don't see why people who are either forced to watch the broadcast, or probably won't get their legitimate downloads until next week, should unwittingly step into a minefield.
Yeah I'd say go for the spoiler thread, because as we've seen from this page not everybody who watches even knows the other episodes are hitting tonight.
