Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

why are you brits so obsessed with that and Neighbors and our other cutural tv crap we export
Honestly, the only person I know who watches Home and Away is my mother. However it's just my go to Australian thing to name. But we do have a show about people moving to Australia and starting a new life there so the most basic answer is that people in Britain like Australia. It's a sunny warm place where everyone speaks English.

Sorry guys, there'll never be another Wario game. The Virtual Boy version was the last. Nintendo is obviously doomed.

LOL at more Nintendo doomsaying. I can't believe the people who still persist at it can take themselves seriously anymore.

Tomorrow's gotta be a big Smash update, guys. It's the Japanese release date for Super Mario 3D World. No way Sakurai will let that pass without a major reveal, right? RIGHT?

He probably will. :(

Well we already have four Mario characters revealed and a handful of stages so next on the list is Mario items. So it'll be something like saying the poison mushroom has been replaced by the mini mushroom.

You're totally forgetting the possibility of a Mario newcomer, though! Rosalina could easily make the roster this time around. That's what I'm hoping, anyway!

Back when Pokemon Black and White were new, I always thought a Nimbassa City level with the Ferris Wheel as a similar hazard would be a cool level.
The best Pokémon Black/White level would be a version of Opelucid/Souryuu City that morphs between the Black version and the White version of the city complete with changing music to match the level. Maybe even throw in the city getting frozen over.

Pic of the day. The giant wind mill in the right-hand side of Windy Hill. It keeps on turning even though it can't fit in the screen, so you'll find yourself in trouble if you're on it for too long.
mario is air dodging...
this game will be king if they bring back the one directional momentum air dodge.

I'm guessing they are going to reveal the old guard first. Also I suspect new comers will be left for special occasions like E3 or even a Nintendo Direct.

Pretty much, I would like to guess that our Dec Direct might be our best bet. I hope.

Edited:

I found today's image interesting since it could hint that the stage itself might be big one. I'm looking forward to see more footage of that stage, but I doubt that we will get one for long time.

So purdy.

I really like how smooth the models are. I don't see much of any jaggies at all. Same great look all the Wii U games have (3D World, etc).

While this doesn't confirm it, I wonder if the Sonic stage is a scrolling stage?

You may want to get your eyes checked. :p

And the game definitely will have jaggies in screens that are in the proper resolution and not whatever the daily screenshots' resolution is.

But we don't play games looking at single frames, so it doesn't matter lol.

Speak for yourself. Despite the awful the controls I'm enjoying the game.

I enjoyed the first half of the game if that tells you anything. (I didn't have much problems with the controls other than that Sonic feels too slow in 2D and the jumping sometimes kills momentum).

Yeah, I can't deny it wasn't exactly what I hyped it up to be. Windy Hill makes for a nice replacement for Green Hill anyway.

They are fine, I think. lol I mean, I'm def not gonna be staring at single frames and zooming in. Right now, there will always be jaggies, but it's so small where it doesn't bother me.

.

The one from melee where you could change what direction you were traveling in with the air dodge. That was great.
Ok, then agreed! It was indeed fantastic! The movement in Melee (thanks to that air dodge, and being able to turn around fast in the initial part of a dash) is ridiculously fun and fluid.

I went back and forth thinking about that description though. "Oh, 'bring back', must mean Melee. Wait... momentum... must mean Brawl, it's based on your momentum. But Melee's gives you momentum. But 'one direction', Melee's sends you in one direction. But you can go multiple directions with it. And Brawl's. I don't know what to think!"

So what types will be represented in the next pokemon stadium?

I was thinking that it might represent Black/White's Elite 4 types:
Psychic(not sure what they can do for this one)
Fighting
Dark
Ghost

Could have some interesting stage designs.

Ghost would be cool, maybe have disappearing platforms. Also put a Lavender Town remix in the game for the full effect.

Maybe bug type with spider webs and whatnot.

There needs to be ghost types! Make it a more dynamic stage! Throw in Giratina for good measure!

Now I'm picturing a series where, following Fusion, Samus ends up having to lay low on some Jurassic Park-ish jungle death world until the Galactic Federation investigation blows over and in the mean time has to fend off the wildlife, rogue Space Pirates / bandits, etc. and it'd also provide an opportunity for certain characters to get their days in the limelight.

Not only was (maybe Sylux?) tailing her at the end of Prime 3, but if he was also on the run from the feds it'd be neat to see him again.

And, while it's pushing it, I really want to see Weavel come back and help her out on Mysterious Alien Jungle World and be voiced by Steve Downes.

I mean come on, how could they not?

Ugh, I hate Metroid NPCs so much. Painfully generic. This is why Metroid games should feature only Samus and creatures, no exceptions (Ridley counts as a creature :P).

Errr. Guess I should say..

"Really large, obvious jaggies. Typically nowadays, models are much rounder and smoother...."

Is that better? lol

I dunno. Weavel was redeemed by bring able to cut his body in half, using his legs a a turret while he ran on his hands to jump at you with hours laser sword. Aesthetically though, yeah most alien races in metroid are fairly bland.

This is classic though.

It still looks good to me.

I don't disagree. Nintendo's always been good at using the resources they have much better than alot of other developers. They work wonders with Mario titles visually.

Back to my initial statement though., I simply meant there's a drastic difference in what most of us see as really bad jaggies, to what we have out now. Or at least what I tend to think of when I hear the words jaggies. I think PS1/N64/Saturn era graphics as the major offenders.

It helps me that I do in fact where glasses, and I have bad vision without them. In fact, I can't legaly drive without some form of corrective lenses.

lol

fuck jaggies

It's been worse than ever on the Wii/PS3/360. PS360 because the HDness of them really brings out the jaggies. Wii... I don't know, Nintendo forgot to anti alias their shit or something during the Wii gen.

I was lucky that my SD television was quite good for Wii games, but now I've moved on to HD I don't benefit quite as much.

Saying that the Wii U doesn't do a bad job with them.

Wii games in general just seemed to have really bad aliasing. One I can recall off the top of my head was that Super Paper Mario had aliasing all over the place, while Paper Mario 2 was relatively smooth. Metroid Prime 3 also had much more noticeable jaggies than Metroid Prime 2, despite visually looking much better.
