Live countdown to major Persona team announcement from Atlus [Summary in OP]

You know, I often wonder if they just have singers spit out a bunch of syllables and then make up the lyrics after the fact to somewhat fit the sounds.

Nah, approach to composition in a language that isn't your native tongue really changes the way a composer looks at the words.

Like, a Japanese composer will have better diction writing in Japanese than say, an American composer, because they know proper diction in their native tongue and well, how to speak their own language better.

It's something very common for us composers when we approach a foreign language to use in vocal music. You end up with different timings of words, stressing different syllables, and sometimes completely mess up proper phoneme usage (which isn't necessarily bad in a medium like music).

Sometimes though, you get really interesting results. Like in lots of the P4 music, there's a lot of 1 or 2 syllable words, but rarely is there anything beyond that. You can attribute a lot of that to his grasp on the language, and it makes for much easier part-writing on his part. Conversely, when you look at what happens when he's not limited by something like that, you get stuff like the Velvet Room music.

B-but, I forgot to take notes!

In more seriousness, I actually think the engrish is fine, it's just interesting how easy it is to mess with the lyrics and still have it sound right. Though my favorite Persona music pieces had little to no vocals(Battle for all of our souls, Kusumi no Okami, Almighty, etc.)

It's a bummer that so much of it got removed from Youtube. It'd probably be too much effort or whatever for you to upload all of it, though.

Still, listening to the PSP's version of Kasugayama High feels good.

Here you go.

I haven't played Persona 4 but I'm really hype for Persona 5

Am I a fake fan? :C

Naaah. I bought Golden but was really turned off by the characters and tone, having just come out of Persona 3. Tried to persevere, but dropped it after ~10 hours. I really hope I come back to it someday since it is so lauded, but for now it's a no go.

I'm playing through P3P at the moment, and it got me thinking: if they don't give you the option to choose which abilities you want to take from each Persona when fusing (like in P4G), I'm going to be so irked.

Did NicoNico change something with the accounts? I have one and watched a lot of streams in the past, but now everytime i click on the persona stream it brings me to the site to buy a premium membership.

Bah, half the fun of Persona is backing in and out of the fusion screen until the right Skills are highlighted for inheritance.

Besides. Skill cards exist for a reason.

Atlus should get with the times and use Youtube, or hell, even twitch for live streaming this stuff.
I know Nico nico is probably more popular in Japan, But still..

Speak for yourself.

I cannot understant the people defending the randomness of skill inheritance. Like, do you hate yourself ?

I didn't like Persona 4 golden giving you a list of possible persona that you could make, but the choosing skill inheritance thing I liked.

probably their way of managing traffic, the live stream seems to be having quite a bit of viewers.

Yeah - Especially that list since Golden was the first Persona I played. I made so many dumb fusion decisions because I used Fusion Search instead.

Never Again. Never. Again.

Yeah, but all the skill cards I get suck. Part of the fun of P4G, for me at least, was rolling one Persona into an unstoppable god using the stat card rewards and selected skill inheritance.

This was not fun and I do not understand at all how anyone could claim it was. The feeling you got from finally getting the right skills from a fusion after twenty minutes of backing in and out was not "oh boy, this is fun", it was relief. It was "oh thank fucking god this is over". With the always soul-crushing "YES, I GOT IT--FUCK I BACKED OUT" thanks to the wonders of muscle memory. I certainly will not miss randomization by any means.

Even if you could seriously stand up for the 'experience', having to back out and reselect your Personae was an aggravating way to shake up your skill list again. Assigning a button on the fusion screen itself to reshuffle would have been much better.

But P4G and SMT4 all showed us the true way, so it doesn't much matter now.

Oh boy. The suspense is killing me. I'm hoping it's Persona 5, but will settle if it's a sequel to Persona 4.

Also, hopefully it'll be a console title. Preferably PS3.

I like how there was a clear progression from DeSu:OC > DeSu2 >P4G > SMTIV in terms of evolving the fusion and inheritance systems. They keep doing better and and better.
