The only downside to them revealing Persona 5 will be the non-stop bugging of Giantbomb for another endurance run.

Actually, it did. The staff have been pretty adamant about not responding (well) to that crap and any thread about it on the forums gets locked.

I want Persona 5 to feature a new cast, but at the same time I want the P 3/4 story to be ended properly in another rpg (though if they ended it in P4A2 I wouldn't be too upset)

Indeed, which is why I abhor the idea. P4A is a fantastic venue for the fanservice, but a fully fledged RPG revolving around characters we know of already would feel a lot like a retread.

I'm kinda split on the idea. I don't want to see anything more extreme then what they did for Persona 2 tho. The nods, overarching story elements, and loose continuity have always been a part of the series, At the same time, I think P5 is going to stand alone.

Yeah when both games ended I was fine with the stories being over. But then P4A came along and it was obvious there was a lot more ideas and things they wanted to do with both games, which is why I said I wouldn't be too upset if they kept their story going on and finishing into P4A2.
None the less, hoping P5 starts it's own thing. I'm ready to become emotionally attached to a whole new set of characters.

Here's hoping if this is P5, that Philemon returns in full form. I want that very much, no more observing as a butterfly, bring us back into the metaphysical world. I love Philemon, he's so mysteriously majestic.

If it's Persona 5, how likely is it to be released on the 360 since Arena was? I have a PS3 but my friend is curious.
Fall 2014 seems about right.

Well, if nothing else, I will have learned how to count down in Japanese.
Hmm. Arena's story always felt like more of an excuse to make the characters fight each other than something meaningful to me. It's kinda reminiscent of the stories in Capcom's Vs. games.
I dunno, wouldn't saving Yuki diminish the whole moral of P3's story? As for Nyarlathotep, he can't be defeated, much like Erebus and Nyx. Either way, P5's cast can take him.

I think they really do port P3 to Vita (or whatever) then they'll launch that in pretty close proximity to Movie #2 next summer, but removing that from the equation, yeah, sounds about right.
Atlus' new owners taught them well.

I just hope the next Persona moves away from the social link stuff, and gets closer to P2. Still the best game in the series (EP is fucking incredible), and the social link stuff is why I could never finish P4.

Okay Thanks, Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than what I was saying.
Yeah, that wouldn't happen.
And you know you can finish the game without filling S.Link.
The S-Link stuff is probably what made the series get as popular as it is with its current fanbase and is one of the things that helps it stand out so I doubt they'll ditch it.
No chance. They might reinvent them in some way but I doubt they'll get rid of them.
