Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

If I were to get an imported Vita 2000, would there be any restrictions? Or can I just install it with English language get on my US PSN account and go about business as usual? Download/buy US games/DLC etc, full English access to trophies, friends, w/e?

Would it be worthwhile to just grab an imported one? Any estimates on US release? If the hardware has 0 differences b/w JP and US version I might as well just grab one now...

Why do you want to import Vita 2000 when you have black friday deals coming in less than week ?

Tearaway is this year's Gravity Rush, as in "yeah okay, there's not a huge amount of exclusive stuff on this device, but damn I'm glad I own it for this single game."

Just a point: Being an EU Vitabro, I feel we often have to deal with delayed releases (looking at you Ys) and higher prices to our US counterparts. It's actually nice to feel like we are getting a little break.

Anyway buy Tearaway, you deserve it.. So relaxing and refreshing, I dare you not to smile while you play this game.

So a concise post as to my problems

I have bought 3 brand new sealed Vitas (for some reason many of you seemed to think i was buying refurbished ones this is not the case(Asda UK doesn't even sell used pre-owned or refurbished Vitas online)). If i had bought a preowned or used one I would have understood and accepted these minor screen defects. Though frankly i still wouldn't have with a refurbished one.

Link to the exact one I purchased: http://direct.asda.com/PlayStation-V...efault,pd.html

The first was ordered on line and had dust trapped under the screen a little white spec when of that then showed as a little black spec when the vita was on. I spotted this in normal use after having my vita for a few hours while on the menu screen. after spotting this in the first product I checked each one after it very thoroughly for defects.
The second was a replacement I received when returning the product to the store which had a dead pixel constantly displaying as a little red spec.
The third had the same issue as the first and again was returned in store for a refund.

Having 3 out of 3 Vitas with issues I cannot believe to be bad luck so quality control at Sony needs to improve even if this was just a bad batch (also thinking of my launch psp with dead pixels that Sony refused to replace).

Maybe I'm seeing something that you guys are not I can't believe this is the case as I'm sure many of you gave your vita a very thorough check when you purchased it but even so I am going to ask anyone brave enough to have a look

So turn off your Vita and grab a torch shine it down onto the Vitas screen and clean off any visible dust and have a really hard look for any tiny white specs (mine were both really small) that cant be moved.

I would really like to buy and enjoy a Vita but as I'm sure you can understand I'm now very dubious about handing over money for a product that I have had these issues with.
But there is a current bundle at Game (UK) that is a good enough price to make me think about trying again so can anyone advise as to whether or not Game are going to give me a hard time over retuning a Vita over what could be considered a very minor defect?

I am tempted to ring Sony about this but am nervous about doing so because if they say this is within acceptable perimeters I would be forced to simply just out right give up on buying a Vita

Thanks for your help guys and hopefully I can join you soon (day dreams of tearaway..sigh)

(I guess it didn't end up very concise sorry about that)

If you buy at game can you pickup in the shop and inspect it there ? Or maybe get second hand one with local pickup ?

Honestly i don't know - we have around 20 vitas on our Polish forum where I spend most of time and noone ever reported issues with sand below screen so it cannot be that widespread.

I had thought about popping into a game store explaining my predicament and saying that that I want to purchase but will not until after they let me check if thoroughly for defects while in store but honestly i cant see them letting me do this if someone knows otherwise please let me know.

Just a reminder, in Japan the confirm and abort buttons are switched (O for confirm, X for abort), which can lead to problems with some games (I only read it, never imported myself).
Everything else is fine.

I knew Dingo was working on another Vita game (aside from Love Live).

But... I would have to shoot myself 78 times before I even think of "Persona".

>Dingo parts ways with Sega.
>Work with Atlus.
>Atlus was bought by Sega.

LOL.

Edit: I LOL'd at Persome.

Uggghhh.... Although it's not impossible to localize this but I would rather have a more traditional game. And here I was hoping for P3P Platinum edition... Sigh...

I'm more pissed at this because of the 3DS region locking, and the fact that it'll NEVER get released in EU >=/

I'll prob. get the Dancing game though.

I don't like the 3DS and don't want to buy one even if there are a lot of good games for it. The missing second analog stick, old overpriced hardware, shitty low resolution screen, no real account system, region lock, Nintendo makes it really difficult for me to support one of their systems. I don't want to support them for all those stupid decisions.

Luckily, the only Nintendo franchise I care about is Mario Kart. Maybe I'll get a used one and only buy used games. At least the chibi Persona doesn't look so good. The dungeon crawling was always the weakest part of Persona games.
I'll probably also get the dancing game.

Persona 5 was another huge disappointment. It's the same bullshit like with Persona 4 again. Until it gets here, I have already completely moved on to next gen. I don't even own a working PS3 anymore and prefer my JRPGs on a handheld. On PS4 I could have at least used Remote Play.

Still, I don't understand why they don't go multiplatform with the Vita if they already choose the PS3, the tech level is close enough for a port. Sure, the want to milk us with a handheld remake again but it's not like they can't release a remake for a multiplatform release.

Don't worry. Persona 5 will make it to the vita eventually. 2016 it is.

That's what will probably happen but still kinda sucks seeing how the "ditch" the loyal persona fanbase that made p4 golden a sucess on the vita by making a persona rpg spinoff coming to the 3ds instead.

And even if persona 5 comes in 2016 who knows how the vita will be in that year. If nintendo launches a new handheld by that time i see them lauching the game for that since i don't see sony launching a new handheld unless the vita goes wild in 2014.

Damn it, I lose all hope in humanity for a moment...

And then it was restored.

I'm ready for double / triple dipping this when it eventually comes to the Vita.

About the dancing game, I think I liked the Rise model, but the MC one had something weird. I dunno how to explain it...

The spinoff is an etrian odyssey type of game, so it sorta kinda makes sense for it to be on the 3ds.

Rise hair wasn't red enough.
Pre-order canceled.
But seriously it looked brown lol

yeah, i noticed that. guess they're still milking persona 4 a lot and since 3ds never had persona game this will sell well.
I just don't get why 3ds rpgs have 3d chibi models so much xDDD

Well I need my Persona fix so I'll probably buy all three games. I feel that the games should be swapped though. Dancing game for 3DS and P3/P4 spin off on the Vita or multiplat them both. Sigh... Time to buy a JP 3DS. Fuck Nintendo with region locking!!!

Someone, anyone make these games be localized. Laughing Banana, I never needed you more in my life than now. DO YOUR JOB!

Well, I think Rise's hair is... brown, right? I dont' know how it's said in english (in Spanish is "color caoba") but word reference says both chestnut and auburn are valid as hair colours. It's like a mix between brown and a dark red, I don't know enough english to explain it properly :(

Between persona 5 and persona 5 platinum there will be a short period, 1 year more or less imo.
Atlus already made persona 4 golden and now it's making persona 4 dance with almost chaterine level of graphics, the kind of graphics i expect from persona 5...

Imo the engine for persona 5 on vita is already done, but since they decided to wait they don't want to waste it making this dancing game lol.

My left analog stick has started making a "clicking" sound. Should I be worried?
I've owned the Vita since launch.

I have no idea

I had no idea that Soul Sacrifice was as good as it is. Holy shnikeys this game is good!

Ragnarok Odyssey is fun as hell, too. The controls are really nice. It kind of kicks ass, actually. Something about those visuals on this screen, it is eye candy. I'm picking up Ace when it drops next year, for sure.

I'm new to having a Vita, still checking out the library and getting a feel for what the system is about.
