Persona 5 announced for PS3, winter 2014

There is only a week of winter in December, don't you think they would be more specific and say December?
 
I know that Persona-heads may slit their wrists if they don't get their dating sim and waifus, but I really hope that P5 (and 6) has a different style and direction than the previous two games. We've had like 6 or 7 years of P3/4, time to move on. Make every two games its own little universe with unique gameplay.

Keep the school setting, but maybe a different type of school? College? Kindergarten? Juvenile Hall?

In 2014/15 the PS3 install base will still be bigger than the PS4's :p But I hope PS4GAF gets a port of the game, since the console has no backward compatibility
 
Hope we get more than a teaser soon. As ever it sucks living in Europe for this, let's just hope they don't pull the P4A region lock trick this time.

brief as it was, that trailer actually makes me want to go back to P4G (only played it for about 6 hours). feeling dat hype.
 
Can't believe I attended all the teasers up to this point and couldn't be here for the actual announcement :(

Already unhooked and gave away my ps3 so really not happy it's not also on ps4 or vita.

Oh well persona is the one series that can get me to go back a generation I'll borrow a ps3 I guess ugh.

It all depends on the definition of "winter". For most people it's just December, January and February. Anyway, winter 2014 is the end of they year 2014. You don't usually cut the winter of a specific year in half with 9 months between them.
 
And here I thought Dark Souls II was gonna be my last PS3 purchase. Unless MGSV releases in 2014, there's no reason for me to get a PS4 for a looong time.

I hope you're right a darker toned Persona 5 is just what I want.
Since as with Catherine Persona team is really good at being on the line of dark but with plenty of humor and such injected as well. Usually thanks to the great characters.

I said it last page, but for a series like Persona that does less than 1M units worldwide (maybe less than 750k), you don't need some gigantic install base. By next December, the PS4 will likely be sitting at 10-15M units sold WW. That's more than enough to host a Persona game.

EDIT: Not that I am saying it will be ported. Just that install base is more important for larger franchises like Final Fantasy than it is a niche product that will maybe move 1M units LTD.
 
Argh I don't want to have a Ps3 around for how many months? If the game will be released in Japan winter 2014, that's mean easy 2015 for Europe, so 24 months?

Please Atlus, take a step further and give us soon as possible a Ps4/Vita porting

BTW, i'm very happy!

It's not cutting it in half since the end of a year is less then half of a winter. End of a year is generally called fall.

And how many in Japan, the only market that matters? By Winter 2014 PS4 would be out in Japan for less than a year.

No it's not. It does not sounds anything like it. Random tapping noise doesn't mean it a bottle cap. There is no popping noise.There is defiantly no glugging sound.

Yay for Persona 5. Does Winter 2014 mean January February 2014 or December 2014?

If install base would be only thing that matters the game would come to PS2. It's how active the userbase is. Active userbase of PS3 is diminishing every month.
 
I imagine the western release will also get a 360 version. I would prefer that anyway, even though I plan to keep both systems around, that Dualshock 3 is hot pile of poop. Would greatly prefer to play it with a 360 controller.



Either way, now the waiting begins. Europe in 2016.

In the media create thread, someone posted that between the initial releases and budget re-release, P4 did just over 400k.

If PS4 is over 1M by Dec 2014, that would probably be large enough.

Maybe in the US. But not where I live and I wonder how they handle it in Japan.

But keep on dreaming it will come out in three months. Of course it would be nice, but it won't happen.
 
Welp. I'm not gonna buy a PS3 just for this game. Hopefully I can play it on PS4 instead via Gaikai, and this service doesn't require fast Internet.
