Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

I think this was the calmest weekend we've had at smashgaf in ages. Nintendo should release Mario and/or Zelda every Friday!

Forget Pac-Man. And Tales of? Not even on the radar. We all know what Namco's flagship series is these days.

Well, Sakurai did say he was going to have people assist him in balancing the game and then he changed his mind. Maybe he has already changed his stance on fighting game characters and is implementing Kunio as we speak.

See, the only Fire Emblem I ever played was Sacred Stones (which is considered being shit by most people, but idc), and I would actually enjoy Ephraim or even Eirika because they use unique weapons (a polearm and a rapier, which is an entirely different type of sword from regular long sword of Marth/Roy), but I know they have no chance in hell.

Sacred Stones is good. Some Fire Emblem fans are way too finicky, and most of the outspoken ones with overly critical views on some games in the series, don't actually represent popular opinion.

With all the talk about Pac-Man after the previous two most requested characters (Sonic and Mega Man), I believe it's only natural for him to make it into the games (whether it's these two games or the one after them is irrelevant) at this point. I still think he has a good chance in these two games because of Namco being involved in this game (not to mention that rumour back in June which has been spot on so far)

People shooting themselves in the head in Smash? Yeah, sure :p

Didn't Sakurai say a couple months ago that having a real fighter character (as in fighters in their own games) was kind of redundant?
I think he was talking about Ryu and a possible appearance in Smash Bros.
Ryu would be redundant because Mario is a shotoclone (or was at least).

Or a move, an item, some other new gimmick...
I could see him being a move, but anything else is out of question.

SMT ain't gonna happen, pretty sure the imagery is a bit too dark for a Nintendo crossover game.

SMT won't happen because it's a fairly small third party series in the larger scheme of things. But I don't think any of the protagonists by themselves would really be too 'dark' for Smash Bros, well aside from Persona 3's due to the whole "gun to head" thing. The /m/ rated aspects are in story moments and generally secondary demons/persona which could easily be ignored.

It's not as small as you think it might be - the franchise itself is huge, and while it's a bit more niche, it's been consistently growing and gaining popularity.

I think generally speaking you'd have to include a lot of the stuff for trophies/stickers (or whatever equivalent we'd have in Smash 4). I mean the obviously m-rated stuff like Mara or Incubus would not be included, but a lot of the demons are based on grisly imagery even though the SMT design might not look like it, let alone the shitload of religious references they'd be forced to put in. I don't think Nintendo wants that stuff associated with one of its frontline popular titles that is aimed at basically all audiences.

Keep in mind that up until now, the most "demonic" thing we've seen in Smash Bros. was the devil assist trophy, which is ridiculously over the top and cutesy.

Shooting aliens in weird environments is nowhere near as dark as summoning penis-shaped demons from the pits of hell.
The story also prime

And Mother's dark side is buried within its story elements, not its style

Eh.. what two of the most famous enemies in mother history are counter arguments to this.

Social links in my Smash?

Swagtagonist gonna get all the girls. Peach Zelda Shiek Samus social links go.

No anime bs here please.

No stereotyping bs in here please.

SMT isn't really a prime choice because they have so many bigger fish to fry. It would be cool for them to do it, but it's not happening and I personally prefer that they pick somebody that could draw in as many players as possible.

Is not as dark/grim/mature as this:

I don't think it's even the lurid parts that would make it incompatible.

SMT relies so much on world mythology and religion that Nintendo would veto it even if the dev team wanted them in. It is virtually impossible to go into much detail into the series without mentioning the whole "Tyrannical God driven to insanity that you can join and wipe out the impure in his name" and "working with the demon lord Lucifer and the armies of hell" bits, as well as going into the mythology of still-extant religions, trying to take that out of the picture leaves you only with Persona and some of the Devil Survivor series.

Yeah, I mentioned the religious references in another response. I know people are hyped caused "omg Persona 5" and stuff, but it's never gonna be in Smash as long as it is so heavily tied to religion and mature-oriented imagery. And since that is what makes the series what it is, it's safe to say that SMT will never be in Smash.
