PS4 official European waiting thread - come here and wait with us!

Hey guys,

I am getting the PS4 on Friday (pre-order from Amazon UK) but my psn profile and plus account is registered on Greece. I have talked with support many times about moving the account to the UK but they say it's not possible.

I think the PS4 launches on the 14th of December on Greece. Do you think I will be able to access my account normally from the PS4? And also get the PSN stuff (like Resogun, Flower, Sound shapes etc.)?

Anyone else with a similar problem? Or an imported console from the US?
 
This is pretty exciting as now a ton of other folks will be experiencing that launch inertia but in a ton of other countries.

It was a right place right time kind of thing. It didn't last for long. £20 off of anything on Currys, didn't work on items less than that amount. But as you can imagine, great deals were to be had on games. Zelda WW HD less than £20. New PS4 games for less than £30. Great prices on some PS3 games, Puppeteer for £2.99 for example.

Or in my case, a free copy of Tearaway :P Mind it seems to be out of stock, so still a chance it could be cancelled.

Definitely going to go down to GAME tomorrow lunchtime to find out what's what. Not heard anything from them since I switched to the KZ bundle, want to find out when I can stop by and pay for it all.

Ah yeah, you're right. It's not the just-announced bundle, just an informal variant of their own making.

I never thought I'd say it, but thank God for forced bundles.
 
My Curry's order is in limbo too, I wish they'd just come out and tell us what's happening as it's a game I want on launch day. FIFA 14.

I just realized that there is no unboxing of the mega Killzone bundle ("Player Edition") - at all.

That's right. We Europeans will be the first to unbox an official bundle.
You hear that? FIRST!

Cross-buy goodness on Flower, Fl0w and the others for me.

The PS+ value and other stuff like this is insane - I'll have a digital library of about 8 games without having to spend any cash at all (obvs will be updating my lapsed PS+), plus two retail titles.

Not with PS4. You can essentially have both accounts running simultaneously. You only need remember your login details for your U.S PSN.

Well, I had 3 conversations with Amazon.de now, the little notification in the order details seems to be an automated message with no meaning. It said, that the product will be delivered after the 25th, but it just seems to be a dummy. Nobody at the customer service can see it.
Furthermore, it popped up after midnight. Today is the 25th, it seems like it's a "30 days in advance" reminder for people to not expect a product for christmas because the delivery date is unknown, for example.

There are a lot of people on the forums speculating about this, and even people who haven't changed anything on the order (delivery adress, payment method, gift vouchers) see this message pop up in their details. It's totally random at the moment.

Btw, all 3 people I talked to told me, my order is fine and I'll definitely get it on the day the bundle is released :)

I saw it too this morning and contacted CS in Italy by chat. they told me that by the rough estimates they have I should be receiving it before Xmas because I have priority. (Ordered the 14th of November)
 
Ahhh nearly 1 day over with work, now just 3 more to go until my Friday off to welcome the newest member of the Dirtyshubb family! Also I think my wife is planning on doing a special lunch for us to show her support of my child like eagerness :)

After trying to ease the pain I was watching some more UI video’s and I think the thing I am going to be looking forward to the most, other than the fantastic games, remote play etc it is how fast and snappy the UI navigation and switching apps is. The amount of time I must have wasted with the PS3 for it to load between apps or when it hangs randomly (especially the damn browser which I use a lot).

Its gonna have that next-gen feeling, and I cant wait!
 
I seen my PS4 today in it's box, they wouldn't sell it to me though (Gamestop, Helsinki)
It's a Japanese model, so I don't mind paying the little extra for that.

Okay, last question :)

How does the server-connection work? If I use the US-account, does it connect too the closest server based on my location, ping speeds or does it connect to a US-server directly? I currently have pretty bad ISP with low connection speeds. Going to get fiber in the coming months however.

I'm fairly sure you connect directly to the U.S servers. It has to be this way in case you're buying a game that isn't available in your region.
 
Thing's you'll love instantly:

OS/UI - It's so buttery smooth. jumping in and out of menus, jumping in and out of games, and browsing the store is just flat out fast.

Sharing and streaming features- I was never a big Twitch or Ustream user until PS4. The way they've managed to integrate the sharing and streaming features definitely makes it PS4's "killer app." I'm going bet that a big community of PS4 streamers will form because of this. Now if we can just manage to clean up the non gaming crap that's been all over the game media recently.

DS4- tighter sticks and impeccable design/feel. LEDs, speaker, and touch pad add a new level of control and immersion; little touches like lights blinking when you get hit from bullets, in game audio logs playing through the speaker when you pick them up are very cool. Only drawback to the controller, IMHO, is the reduced battery time. I can get 6-8 hours of playtime with the DS4 before it needs to be charged.


Standby mode Charging and downloading updates in the background while the console is essentially powered off? Why didn't anyone think of that before?

The Jump is not going to be as stricking this time simply because we are not moving to a new TV standard. Not only that, but the new consoles are significantly underpowered compared to how the 360 and PS3 were to their predecessors.

Any possible future gen when we move to 4k gaming will be just as jarring.

All of this is true and there is some nice little touches touched upon the "little things" thread. Here is one or two that I shared -

If you send a message to multiple people like say, close friends, you automatically create a chat room. Anyone in the room can rename it so it can be like a catch all type thread for messages between a tight knit group of friends.

When I was sending messages in this manner before I deleted the message itself and it would always say I left the conversation but we just figured out last night that we could create a sort of email like exchange system with pictures, voice messages, and even internet links all in our little chat between me and 3 good friends.

Also, party chat is quite amazing. On top of being able to chat and do anything on PS4. Vita people can join and I had a friend even use his Vita in remote play with his PS4 mic plugged into the Vita mic slot and was able to chat with us in remote play on his Vita. I thought that was an almost inception type feature.

The cool thing is that he could also be in the chat as his username on Vita's party chat and join on PS4 as himself again so in essence he basically could be in the room and have another person talking with a PS4 while the other uses a Vita. It's not a huge deal but still really cool little things I'm discovering.

These are just some of the little things which make this console much more social.

The only thing I wish we had is the ability to comment on the status of things like on Vita.

Here is something I have been wondering, does a players profile come up any differently on the PS3 if they are on a PS4? I know on Vita its different depending on which machine they are playing on (controller icon) but haven’t seen anything about it on PS3.

Just wondering since no one on my friends lists seem any different but to be fair I have only seen a few with PS4 centric comments next to their name.

They actually let you see your PS4? what a tease.

Remember that gaffer that worked in a game shop at the time PS2 launched. The stock arrived in a few days before launch and he slapped a sticker with his name on one of them (his preorder), he sneakily replaced the console with some heavy books a few days before launch and brought the real console home early. Then on launch day he just bought the box with the books inside.

Any retail employees in here tempted to do that?
 
Just put down the last 50€ towards my PS4 + BF4, now Im all set for friday. Cant wait! Tried the controller att Gamestop today and it felt way better than the DualShock 3, both in size and weight.

So hyped for this thing, I feel like a child on christmas day.
 
have come down with a really shit cold possible flu, only just woke up and i went to be at 8 last night, hopefully this is gone come friday.

heh' i know that feel...

just finished AC3 (ps+), Beyond Two Souls and The Last of Us, downloaded Deadpool and The Puppeteer last week and i think i'm at 50% in deadpool and 2/6 scenes in puppeteer (co-op with my wife), haven't touched any ps+ game since july, except for AC3 and this friday (or monday >.<) my ps4 arrives with AC4, Killzone, Waframe, Contrast and Knack Q_Q

with a 12hour-work day it's almost impossible to play all the stuff. not to mention my ~150 untouched steam games <.<

Yes. It's more detailed and shows some of their accomplishments as well as if they're in a party chat, streaming w/link to stream in Live with PlayStation provided, and also which MP server they are playing on as well as a join button there on the activity itself for you to quickly join them. It's much more seamless than on PS3.

I do not understand why the do not offer this quite simple service. My psn is also from Greece but i live in spain now and i would like to use things like music unlimited but nope..

I changed address in every store front on the pc (steam, origin etc) easily and without any hassle. This separation of stores offers some good things (like localisation efforts) but its crappy for everything else.

I did not even think that the greek store might not be up but since i can't even d/l the android app and people from uk can that may very well be the case.
