Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Alright, there are few possibilities with the stage.

1) What we see is finalized version of stage
2) We could choose between two different design for a stage (Soul Caliber 2)
3) Pokemon Stadium gimmick stage for 3DS
4) Customization stage

I'm guessing #1. I don't see the different versions of the stage thing happening. And I definitely don't see #4 happening either. I guess it's possible it's a gimick stage, but FE stages don't seem like they'd be gimmicky.

You know, the more I'm looking at the two different 3DS pictures the more I am leaning towards stage customization. The different pieces on the stage just don't seem to fit or blend as well as I would hope they would and they seem like interchangeable pieces. Come to think of it, the nintendogs stage seems similar in having stage platforms/objects you can move around

The one in Brawl totally was, though Three stages in one with different gimmicks in each. I'm willing to be it's a stage with Pokemon Stadium style changes.

I go with 3 or 1, 3 is the strongest possibility right now

I think the comment was for the statues.

I decided to while I am waiting for smash U and Kart U to play Kart Wii. The first stages these people is rainbow road damnit. Why is that stage always terrible.

UGH! Now I'm in mood to play Mario Kart Wii, so I guess I know what I'm going to do tonight if I managed to get some free time.

Count me in if you guys decide to play some online matches.
Shoot me a pm with your friend codes :D

I thought the transitions between the forms of Castle Siege were rather awful, honestly. You're busy playing on one of them, when suddenly a speed line effect just slowly fades in, and then everyone's just magically in the next form.

It'd be one thing if the ground started crumbling beneath you and you all fell into a small area beneath the playfield before the speedline effect started to kick in - to lend some sense of continuity between the forms (you'd actually be falling, in that case). Alas, no such luck, you just clumsily fade from one to another.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I like all three forms of Castle Siege, but I hate the way it transitions. All three of them could've been fleshed out as individual stages (well, maybe not with the underworld portion) and they would've been perfectly playable. I'd be okay with this arena changing, as long as it sticks to the principles of Pokemon Stadium in Smash Bros. where the central platform is always the same size and not constantly shifting.

You're not alone. They're just like "WHOOOOOOOSH" new stage, with pretty much no warning. I'd much prefer a dynamic transition where something, as you said, crumbles to reveal the next portion of the level. This is next-gen...we can have smooth transitions. Do it, Sakurai!

Yeah, the transition wasn't great. It could also save people who were falling to their death too which was kinda weird.

I wonder if we will finally get a stage based on Akaneia. If Sakurai really wants to stick to the handheld/console theme it would make sense, and from what I remember there may have been one in development for Melee that was scrapped. Ha, the 'only Awakening' fans may implode if this happens.

So does Nintendo apparently.

I think they announced it way too early. It's clear that they only just made the agreement not long before the January direct aired, considering they had zip to show for it aside from pre-existing art and a logo. The Index scandal probably hasn't helped matters

I'm guessing it and X were announced that January as a reaction to low Wii U sales in Japan; an attempt to spur them on, despite the games not being entirely ready for prime time.

Didn't work, alas.

I just realized that the Wii Fit level has Wii Fit Board platforms, neat I guess.

To back your theory IntelliHeath, Namco is helping with this right and Soul Calibur 2 (haven't played the others) allowed you to select different versions of some stages. So this could be an idea they've brought to the table.
Final Destination version of every level.

You think Sakurai will throw American's a bone and give us a Thanksgiving-related update?

Falco confirmed for Turkey Day?

It's coming.

Battlefield

It appears to be some kind of gun-flower that Mario has plucked. Obviously, you take now destroy the environment and use the pieces as weapons.

Or maybe it's Mario's weapon in his new FPS spinoff.

Mario will kill all the humanoids.

Welp, it still shows yesterday's image ... But yes, seems to me like we have confirmation of the raygun's new look! Really dig the Smash logo they sneaked in there.
