PS4 official European waiting thread - come here and wait with us!

I've been purposely averting my gaze and hands from the demo unit in my GAME as it doesn't exist physically until it's in my hands!

Me too,I've stayed away from the lock ins etc & was hoping to not even glimpse it until I got it home but as I was walking out of the shop I was drawn in like a tractor beam glowing & a cerny-esc hand beckoning me over, It was like a death scene from a film, travelling down the tunnel of light onwards to heaven, I had no control at this point.
It wasn't until I felt something wet on my hand that I realised I was dribbling & snapped out of my trance, sheepishly I looked around to see if anyone had seen me, 2 other guys nodded in approval (they'd been there too, I felt it) I returned the nod, wiped the dribble from my chin & exited the store, satisfied.

I'm sorry to hear that guys, but glad you managed to find some escape with games. Reminds me of Polygon's McElroy brothers who talked recently on a podcast about how them, their other brother and dad played a lot of Oblivion together the month their mum died, and it's arguably the experience that pushed them into getting into the industry.

My sadness is trivial in comparison. My ex-gf broke off contact a few years ago (she didn't break up with me, she just disappeared) so I took a break from gaming (except Vita launch) and found solace in Persian literature and poetry. Managed to find myself a whole new hobby out of the heartbreak! Then many months later, still quite hurt from it all, I dove back into gaming like never before and that wave is still going strong a year later, which includes joining GAF of course.

I was passionate about games before but I admit that in the last year I've invested a lot more extra passion into my hobbies because I find it comforting to devote my energy towards something that I know will return me happiness and also improve me as well (especially the literature, but also the critical thinking about games).

And this experience has given me so much inspiration and creative energy to write my own ideas for stories and characters that I will either turn into a game or book.

Nothing trivial about a loved one disappearing, my most recent girlfriend couldn't cope with my troubled past and the difficulties it causes, She just vanished too but as long as she is happy that's fine but damn I do miss the Times we played together was such fun. You keep enjoying your hobbies and it seems clear to me your heartbreak made you a better and more knowledgeable person, good for you, as for Persian literature, excellent stuff I attended an exhibition in London years ago which had both on display. Other cultures especially ancient ones definitely interest me greatly. It's good to have many hobbies not just gaming. I wish I had the time now for other hobbies but my life is too busy looking after relatives, time for myself allows only some free time in evenings for games, but hey at least I enjoy that immensely.

Is the ability to watch people's streams still in this app? I can see it on a screenshot on the Google Play but there is no mention in the description that I can see and I haven't seen anyone streaming on my friends list.

AHHHH IT'S HAPPENING

!!!!!!!!!

I got this Sony PlayStation App (Android), but when I use it it just directs me to their website, which it opens in my browser. Is that how it's supposed to work?

Edit - actually, it's just the store that does this.

I had to search playstation app ios in google and get to the app stirs that way , just searching for it on the App Store returned no results (UK)

Funnily enough in Spring I went to two exhibitions about Persian culture. One at the British Library about the Mughals (which I visited twice!) and a smaller one at Oxford University about Persian influenced cultures generally. It was amazing to see the actual pieces and paintings produced hundreds of years ago. Seeing them on the internet or in a textbook doesn't do them justice. (just like our 1080p goodness with PS4 haha).

It's strange to say but I suppose going to those events was my equivalent of attending a pop or rock concert haha (just like E3 will be one day :P). And crazy to think if it wasn't for the domino effect of all that happened in my life I would have never, ever attended them.

Yes I'm still young and only half-responsible lol. I'm sure in a few years I'll feel much the same as you. But as you say, it's what you put into your hobby/gaming time that counts, not how much of it you have!

What games are you getting for your PS4 then? I admit that nothing interests me strongly (I don't play COD, BF, NFS or AC), but I'm going to play Killzone for the first time simply because it will show off the hardware the best. I would've loved Knack had it been a true platformer rather than a GoW lite.

OMG it's finally happening!

Hi Mr Mackins,
Every order that we receive is important to us and yours (Id:Gtyy813809688) was no exception.

The moment your order came through we've been busy picking and packing, sticking and wrapping to get it sent off to you as fast as we could so that when it arrives at your door it'll bring a smile.

You can now put your feet up, have a cup of your favourite warm beverage and possibly a nice slice of cake whilst Royal Mail carry out the delivery part of the order.

If we could, we would bring the parcel to your door personally and deliver it with your very own GameSeek fanfare, but we do have to rely on Royal Mail....so if they don't show your delivery as much love and care as we would then we are very sorry. Let us know about it and we will do what we can to help. Occasionally things can be delayed or go missing so we would respectfully ask that if there is a problem, you let us know first. Any delays are not down to us.

So, you now know that we have treated your order with the care and devotion and carried it through our sales process like it was our very own. We'd like to ask if you could show us a bit of love too? We would be filled with joy if you could see your way clear to spending a couple of moments to leave us feedback. Your opinion is invaluable to us, and we treat your words with great care.

That about wraps it up :) All that is left for us to say is that everyone here at GameSeek is grateful for your time and hope that shopping with us is a rewarding experience that you'll want to repeat :)

If Amazon dispatch tomorrow, I'm pretty confident I'll have the console on Thursday.

1-2 Day Delivery to Ireland usually arrives next day.

Preorder paid in full at Game.

Playstation 4 + Killzone
DS4 blue controller
Knack
Battlefield 4

Preorder discounted it down, plus I traded in my PS3 games. Total came to £317.75!

Not bad. 2 days!!!

Cancelled my BF4 pre order. I'll pick it up when they fix the fricking game.

Just KZ and FIFA for me at launch. Oh and the PS+ Games.

Yeah the playstation app is awesome. This is gonna get tons of use from me. Being able to buy something while at work and have your PS4 download it so it's ready when you get home is pretty damn amazing.

Didn't Ireland get GTAV from Amazon a couple of days early?

Yes, but that was really just down to it releasing on a Tuesday (meaning Monday was too late to ship for guaranteed release delivery, so they pushed them out on the Friday, and they arrived on Saturday)

Are you kidding - the PS4 could not have come at a better time. You will not even have time to think and feel down about your ex, playing on the PS4 will have all your thoughts.

I'm sorry to hear that guys, but glad you managed to find some escape with games. Reminds me of Polygon's McElroy brothers who talked recently on a podcast about how them, their other brother and dad got a 360 and played a lot of Oblivion together the month their mum died, and it's arguably the experience that pushed them into getting into the industry.

My sadness is trivial in comparison but I can relate to this guy:

My ex-gf broke off contact a few years ago (she didn't break up with me, she just disappeared) so I took a break from gaming (except Vita launch) and found solace in Persian literature and poetry. Yeah. I'll try do something completely new.

My plan were to get off the Internet more and play much less (not buying that many if any games next year) but I used to work as a Gaming Journalist (or what you prefer calling it) for the past 12 years so I always had that to fall back on but now there's just nothing. It feels a bit empty and Fifa 14 and my PS Plus subscription probably won't arrive on launch day either.

But the Christmas month should hopefully help. Getting a PS4, Xbox One and celebrating Christmas and New Year with family. I gotta try cheer up. I have already thrown out everything related to her.

Though, I didn't plan on gaming more, I might do now heh.

EDIT
Oh yeah, I gotta sign into the PlayStation App, forgot about that.

Is it possible to install a new HDD without setting it up. As I want to replace it as soon as I get the console. Rather than set it up and unplug.

Do you have Persian links? My Dad is from Iran, you might like the Zoroastrianism exhibit at the Brunei Gallery.
Girlfriend has announced she's got her best friend from China visiting this weekend! Gonna be just me and the PS4 baby! Yeah!

BelgiumGaf
in case you didn't have a chance to preorder a ps4
the new mediamarkt in Mechelen op de Bruul which will be opening this friday will be selling 200 ps4 consoles

I've been trying to keep myself busy doing other things apart from work.

So on Sunday I found a matchstick construction kit, so I decided to create matchstick house.

Except, the construction kit that I found was over 7 years old, the glue that come with it had become some kind of extra terrestrial substance, and the matchsticks had become very brittle.

Ended up smashing the thing in frustration...good times. : )

I would honestly like to maybe read about other cultures or maybe even the bible. I don't believe in God or any religions but it might be interesting to at least try understand what they are reading about and where they are coming from. I don't know.

And for games, I have Fifa 14 pre-ordered as I have found out, that it's basically the only game I play every week all year. And then Call of Duty: Ghosts - I know it gets a lot of hate here but to me it just seems like pure fun I can jump into quickly. I don't need anything fancy.

Those two games will do, and maybe I'll wish for Killzone: Shadow Fall just to have that next-gen first party experience.

Killzone for me with resogun and contrast free. I've preordered Infamous collectors edition,Destiny and watch dogs. I had originally ordered ac4 but got that on pc as a gift. Yeah I've been lucky exhibition wise had a great friend who took me to many Terracotta army, tutankhamun, Sha of Iran, Hadrian and others but alas he died suddenly new year 2011. Next year I'm taking my young nephew to comic con in London, he is Japanese mad and wants to go there. Should be good for him as he is ill and its going to be his first real trip.

I'm Turkish actually but aspects of our culture and language is heavily influenced from yours (like how Europe is influenced by Ancient Greece/Rome), and the early Ottoman Empire used to speak more Persian than Turkish, so to some extent I see it as a part of my own heritage. Though unfortunately most Turks are ignorant about it, however I was surprised how many had heard of Shahnameh and Ferdowsi (which I still need to finish reading lol).

Many, many thanks for the shout on the Zoroastrian exhibition. I will definitely attend that ASAP!

As for the PS4 damn, so close yet so far. Time is definitely going slower this week. That's a scientific fact!

Your nephew knows where the fun is at! Japan was my thing before Persian, and I've contemplated picking up on it again so I can play Persona 5 (and FFXV) as early as possible lol.

Your lineup is exactly like what I'm going for. I'll be prioritising MGS GZ over anything else though.

Launch hype will cure you man haha. As soon a you have that box in your hands the excitement will begin.

Getting away from the internet is good for sure, I need to do that myself sometime, but it is admittedly a wonderful, wonderful thing. Many of the aforementioned cultural stuff I got into was thanks to the internet!

Nice! Let me know how delivery goes for it! I was going to get the mega bundle from them, but ShopTo offered me the mega bundle early this month and I trust them more than gameseek.
Would be nice to know if gameseek deliver the mega bundle to you before launch or even just on launch.
Good luck man, 3 days left!
