GTA: San Andreas coming to iOS/Android/Kindle/Windows Mobile; controllers supported

I feel like the majority of people that buy these GTA games on mobile boot it up for 5 minutes, say "wow" that this huge game fits on their phone and than never play it again. I can't imagine playing through any of these games through touch only on that tiny screen.

Exactly what I did. It was cool to show people but I haven't played the FF or GTA games I got on Android or iOS. I stopped purchasing things like this.

great news :D

i bought GTA III for my ipad and GTA vice city for my nexus and both had solid touch controls, just the sniping is a hassle for me, damn you 8 ball mission on that boat, infinite fails

plus i never beat GTA SA so this is good news since i want to play it again
how were the controls for the RC helicopter on GTAVC? I remember those being disgusting on PC, I can't imagine how they could be worse but if they could fuck them up that badly on PC then on touch controls...

Controller support is good. I can just plug my wired 360 pad into my Nexus 7 with an OTG cable and it should work, right?

Well, it doesn't speak well to portable gaming as a whole when a 10 year old port on mobile is the most interesting thing happening across all handhelds.
More interesting than A Link Between Worlds or Tearaway? Nah.

I'm excited. Rockstar puts a surprising amount of care in their iOS efforts (other than that iFruit thing), with features like icloud save syncing making it easy for me to play on multiple devices.

Was expected.

Meanwhile over at pc, steam version still has no widescreen and the game itself has zero controller support, thanks R*.

Man I played GTA 3 on my transformer prime back in the day. While the game looked good, touch controls sucked so hard. I quit when I got to the 8 ball sniping missions on the boat. I'll give this one a try when it releases in December hopefully the controls aren't abysmal.

Cool, but personally i dont play these more demanding games as they totally kill the battery.

That's the main reason I don't either - phone battery dies down fast enough already. With my note II, which has a pretty big screen, my thumbs covered too much of GTAIII as well and it wasn't as enjoyable without convenient controls either but the textures sure did look clear.

I wonder if it's a lot more fun on an iPad. Should get one eventually but don't really need one since I use my laptop a lot...and apple keeps improving them so fast I end up waiting a little longer. iPad air is damn sexy though.

I wonder how well it will run on the ipad mini, if at all, or will we all need to upgrade to A7 chips. Also, anyone made a controller addon case for the iPad mini yet?

It's not really necessary. I play games on my Nexus 7 by putting it in the stand I use to watch Netflix, it's like playing console games on a little personal TV.

The non-retina ipad mini is quite weak.

A lot less pixels to push. When iPad 3 came out the increase in resolution reduced effects in some games compared to iPad 2.

I wonder how widely it will be supported across all 3 platforms? Maybe only recent snapdragons and adreno pairings, Tegra 3 and 4 and modern Xynos samsung chipsets although that would get it on almost every high end phone in the last 18 months.

Why should it be more demanding than previous GTAs?

This is why I want it on the Vita.

If I were to use a controller with my phone, it'd be this one:

Because really, screw having to carry a PS3 controller :P It looks much nicer like this. That being said, I'm no GTA fan and won't be buying this. Also, yikes at graveyard thread.

Sweet news! :)

So which controllers work with IOS7? Any bluetooth type or is it strictly one made by Apple?
I have an Android tablet too but eh its a mini, would rather play on my Ipad 4's much larger screen.

and another majority of people say stuff like this about touch screen games without even trying it themselves. Vice City was perfectly playable on an iPad mini if you actually cared to learn the controls. I beat the RC plane mission on my first try, which was always a pain in the ass to control. I was close to 100% in the game as well.

I doubt it will be playable on a smaller phone screen, but I've never tried.

Neat. I was waiting for this.

BTW, if Rockstar ever launches a mobile version of GTA IV, I bet it will be way more optimized than the PC version :(

Really surprised at the Windows Phone support.

Never played SA, maybe I'll check it out.

me too, but I don't think it'll play well on anything smaller than a iPad mini with all the touch buttons. At least with my man hands.

My HTC 8x came with a small amount of internal memory as well, can't even install asphalt 8.

Will probably get it just for novelty purposes.

I want everyone to imagine now how those RC helicopter missions are gonna be with a touch screen.

this reminds me...whatever became of the playstation phone?

You didn't learn anything from the graveyard in the first page? :p

Their comments were a bit trolly and hit n run style. Mine has a bit more reason behind it. Well not my own reasoning but agree with the guy I quoted hehe.

Nonetheless I'll still be buying it lol. (assuming it works on a 4S?).

ergh, don't think my xperia play will be able to run this at a decent enough framerate... vice city was so bad on it, I plugged the PS2 back in.

ah yeah I forgot cause its early in the game, good thing that rc can take lots of bullet hits lol. I struggled on that mission but passed it my first try.

shit I remember my brother raging at that rc plane mission in SA, haha nooooooo

This is great. I can finally get the 3rd and final GTA game for my Android device! Can't wait to relive this classic experience on the go with enhanced graphics and gameplay, adjusted to my smartphone's touch screen input. I waited for content like this in order to enjoy the ultimate mobile experience. Thank you Rockstar Games!

First page is ridiculous with all the Vita post. Glad mods stepped in.

I wonder how it'll run on my iPad 3. It's not the best iPad for games...

Sad thing is that it will probably run better than PC.

PC version of the GTA games are poorly optimized? :(

I have them on Steam but haven't played them yet.

on SA there are also all the toy missions which have better (simpler) controls than the helicopter on SA or VC but they will still suck on touch controls

I wonder what music tracks will be replaced this time. Losing MJ in Vice City hurt.

but it has a great custom soundtrack feature. I bought a handful of 80's songs to put in the game.

Beautiful. Vice City played very well on iPhone, and I can only assume this will be just as good. Thank you Rockstar
