Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

That was more to Intellihealth than you.

The only things I'm dying to see mode-wise are Classic Mode and the enhancements to the Stage Builder, if we get it back.

Also count me in for RttF.

Everyone is talking to me. Everyone.

So no one was annoyed with Brawl's handicap change?

Nintendo should release a quarterly Smash Bros. Direct — one in December, one in March, one in June, and one in September — each with a newcomer trailer, Sakurai explaining a new game mode, a new stage, and a new item. Nintendo would really benefit from that level of marketing. There would be monthly veteran reveals on the site as usual, but the big stuff would come in the form of a Smash Bros. Direct.

But I want Little Mac to be revealed in front of a live e3 audience.

I would not be surprised if they do a Smash Direct. It's bound to happen. It would raise awareness of the game even higher and it would generate so much hype.
also, where is Falco? he's been my main since Melee! he better make it.

As far as hype building goes, you have to reveal a character bigger than Mega Man for a live reveal to be worthwhile.

Edit- as I'm thinking about it, the only options that could possibly work for that scenario are Crash Bandicoot or Spyro. Can anyone else think of any? No, Ridley would not do the trick.

Edit-edit- maaaaaaaybe a second mega man/sonic character like Zero or Knuckles?

A single reveal wouldn't do much hypewise, but a big blowout trailer showing a bunch of new and returning characters with long gameplay clips would outdo any individual reveal as long as they cut it as masterfully as the second 3D World trailer.

That would be cool but they might repeat what they did last E3. Not front of Audience.

They better pop that Nintendo bubble. The Wii U needs all the attention it can get. I would prefer a mix of both strategies, a live e3 stage presentation, and developer directs.

I disagree. A well executed trailer revealing newcomers, new stages, new items, new features and the first look at some veterans in motion is all that is needed to induce hype.

Blech. Ick. Yuck soup with a side of bleh.

Duck Hunt Dog is more likely than a second Mega Man or Sonic rep.

Mega Man hype would've been so fucking awesome in front of a live audience. What could have been...

Indeed. Come to think of it, Brawl wasn't at the main conference in 2006, was it? Melee was the only one that had that treatment. (Edit: here's a blast to the past in regards to Melee. Imagine that but with the current scope of E3!)

Maybe a server went down or something. Never really cared for Smashboards. Then again I was never all up in arms about Smash being super competitive.

There was a time when it wasn't like that, y'know.

I miss those days.

At the time I would ever pay a visit that's all it was about so I guess in the past it was a more positive experience. Would have liked to have been there.

If memory serves correctly, it exploded into what it is now following a 2005 Nintendo Power interview with one of the admins (Gideon?). Before that, it was still a pretty big site but wasn't quite the definite online mecca for competitive Smash like it is today; that, and I guarantee no one would randomly brand you a scrub for having three hundred posts or something, lol.

Last I checked, they archived most of the topics from pre-2007 so unless someone randomly bumped a topic you can't look at anything from that era anymore. Another piece of internet nostalgia locked away forever. :'(

Yeah I have similar feelings with the old Nsider forums.

LOL I used to go there too so I know how you feel.

Then I think of infamous topics like "why does Link have eyes?" and how people seriously suggested SpongeBob and Officer Jenny for Brawl, then just nod my head and affirm it was for the best.

Eh I was slightly peeved the one time a indepth discussion about Sylux was engaging and the topic was deleted. I got delusions of hitting a viable official story point.

But I know better now since Nintendo gives little in regards to Metroid.

why not bubsy the bobcat while we're at it

I remember the days when people said Mega Man would never get in Smash Bros and that Ryu or a Resident Evil character would get in instead.

:)

I wouldn't mind if Zero were playable.
It would be an absolute injustice for a potential second Capcom rep to be another Mega Man character, especially Zero who shows up in every other fighting game ever anyway.

Amaterasu, Viewtiful Joe, or Phoenix Wright would all be excellent second Capcom reps. Or, if we want to get REALLY crazy, Zack and Wiki or Sissel.

Out of these, I'd say that Phoenix Wright makes the most sense, considering how Nintendo-exclusive he's been (MvC 3 notwithstanding :P).
