To be honest, they would probably make Left 4 Dead 3 before HL3. That would push HL3 back for a couple of years extra.

Yes, we are! And bear with the bragging below, I'm usually very humble - but I'm in flaunt mode due to SteamWorld Dig coming to Steam tomorrow.
Here we go: We've actually got the sequel pretty much figured out, and it's going to be great - at least judging from the game design document.
So it might be a tad surprising that the next SteamWorld game will NOT be that direct sequel - but rather a slightly different gameplay. Hope no one will be disappointed; I had the chance to play a vertical slice of the next game before we had to scramble all resources into the Steam version, and I almost cried with excitement.
And then earlier today we discussed yet another game in the SteamWorld series. It's going to be VERY different in more than one way, and yet similar in others. And it's going to be - wait for it - great AS WELL!
So we've got at least three new SteamWorld games coming your way. We'll work very hard to realize them all. All it takes is enough people liking them, talking about them - and buying them.

it's not happening guys, Valve is too busy with big picture mode and SteamOS and Steambox to care about game development at this point.
Shenmue fans. Half Life 3 will happen.....eventually, Shenmue probably won't.
