Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Yea, SSE felt like they were trying to make it feel like you had choices and options, when it was really linear as it gets.

Felt kind of long winded, too. I kept thinking "is it over?" after each level, especially the shorter ones.

I'd take classic mode over another SSE mode.

I wouldn't mind an SSE style mode if they cut out everything but that final level. That place would've been cool if I hadn't already played everything in it.

That's true. There was some generally good things in there. In concept, a large single player mode is not totally unwelcomed, just the way they dd it didn't work for me.

Villager getting a moveset that represents Animal Crossing so well should have been what they did with Toon Link and Wind Waker items.

It's crazy that he's still a clone.

To be fair, that is the most basic equipment for Link. Maybe some fire rod, deku leaf, or uhm spyglass (?) action.

I'm not complaining, but I'm sure they could have that guy leaking magical items and rupees during a match if they really wanted to.

Edit: It'd be kind of neat if adult Link had a taunt that could send him forward or backward in time and turn him into young Link. Maybe it could increase/decrease power and speed stats?

You're just jealous of his stunning, anti-gravity, Dali-esque mustache.

I want Waluigi in this game so bad. Bottom tier or bust!

Edit: Oh, and Shadow has guns and that's dumb. HA!

Toootally. He could literally be the worst character (tier-wise) in the history of Smash Bros., and I'd still be happy with it. :P

Guess I'm just not a fan of the idea of SMB with a dystopian twist. If he really wanted to implement that kind of stage idea, I think it would have worked better on something else where it makes sense in the context of the series. Something like the long-abandoned ruins of Zebes from Metroid after the defeat of Mother Brain. (Not as iconic as SMB, but still as old)
Can't do that, remember they have to keep the lava hazard in the Metroid stages (for some reason).

I think the wasteland look in the Mushroom Kingdom helped to evoke a feeling of nostalgia(?) like "I completely forgot about this place, I just rushed to the castle to save the princess but I actually didn't care about this place... until now" well IMO.

Um, guys, Sakurai is actually considering Reggie for Smash, if this is accurate:

http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitio...mash-bros-3ds-wii-u-roster-reggieforsmashbros

During his #ImWithReggie takeover of Nintendo of America's Twitter account, Reggie revealed that if he becomes a playable character in the upcoming Smash Bros, his Final Smash would be "MY BODY IS READY SLAM".

More importantly, although it might have just been a joke, the Regginator said that Masahiro Sakurai might consider adding him to the game if this petition gets 100,000 signatures from fan

Would like to say that someone posted, forgot who but think it was a junior that gamexplain posted their super smash bro. analysis, I kinda ignored it, thinking that it was old, but then I remembered today that their subscribers have been asking for one for about 5 months now, and they basically sum up everything we know and alot of the theories we estimated up until this point, they pretty much have everything except confirmation that villager's side B is infact the gyroid since it was revealed just a few days ago. so I want to respost the video, its a pretty good recap for anything we have forgotten guys, worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrKDh8pFbQ0

that video also reminded me that you can cut some projectiles like samus' missiles which is a update I loved, its one of those lil things you appreciate.

Toon Link being a clone makes Link less of a significant character, especially when you consider Toon Link has much better options in combat.

Oh! would also like to point out what we havent really noticed but they pointed out in the video, in that it seems the percentage turns red alot sooner which could mean we could get knocked out the stage alot sooner, course this could change in the final product.

It's still mind boggling how people are taking it seriously.
It's even more mind boggling that people want it to happen. I know I take Smash Bros. a little too seriously (in fairness, it's my favorite video game series), but a fucking business executive being on the roster would be enough to deter me from buying the game. It's not funny and it doesn't make any sense.

And Reggie just made a statement today or yesterday saying that petitions don't change what they do. So there's that
That's regarding petitions for localizing games and other stuff that may involve business decisions. Adding a character wouldn't fall under that I think.

That was a great video! Though I think they even mentioned the Gyroid being his potential Side B too, and referenced Luigi's similar one, which is pretty impressive

He's also referring to NOA not NCL or HAL for that matter. That said, adding a character is still a business decision because it requires more man hours/money.

This isn't directly on topic, but in retrospect, it's pretty impressive that Capcom was able to design 11 characters from the ground up in only 7 months for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and I believe those characters have several more attacks/animations than Smash Bros. characters. I'm really hoping Sakurai doesn't skimp out on the newcomers.

7 months? I know that some of characters were planned to be DLC characters for MVC3 but the disaster happened so they decided to go with Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 path. I'm pretty sure that they are more likely to be working more than 7 months. I could be wrong.

11? Who was the character that was ready before release of Vanilla then? I didn't follow MvC3 much.

It's too much of an in-joke if you ask me. A lot of people who play Smash won't understand why he's in the game or even who he is. It'd be like adding Ono to a Street Fighter game just because he's relatively popular with more dedicated fans (or someone like JWong or Daigo).

Frank West.

Edited: His Silhouette was shown in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

I assumed that they had issues with his move sets so I'm pretty sure that's when they decided to revamp his move set.

Weren't all of those newcomers originally planned as DLC for vanilla MvsC3 and already in varying degrees of development before Capcom just came to the decision to just make UMvsC3? Frank West was also a late cut from the original game.

Frank West and Doctor Octopus were late cut. I would love to see how Doctor Octopus would play.

I left Frank out (which is why I said 11 and not 12), but I don't think the rest of the characters were actually planned out extensively until Capcom decided on making Ultimate. At the very least, there's an email from Marvel's Chris Baker from February or March 2011 where Rocket Raccoon was only being considered.

Not to mention Venom nor Green Goblin got in, so Spidey was left by himself in terms of reps.

Though if I remember right some data in the original MvsC3 referencing that RE5 executioner enemy as a playable character which would've been awful, so not all the cut content was for the worse I guess.

Thankfully, I think the only reference to the Executioner was in the bonus pre-order comic.

While we're on the subject, I definitely want DLC characters in Smash Bros. Nintendo's handling DLC really well with Pikmin 3, and I think it would be great to see a few post-release characters that Sakurai didn't have time to include initially. My only concern is that Sakurai's teams have disassembled immediately after release for the last two games he's worked on.

Yeah, the petition isn't going to do anything. It be at the dev teams sole discretion, in my mind. It's a fun thing to think about, but the only way I see it happening is if they introduce Mii as playable and Reggie is the default Mii.

This is a good point, I also here this is part of Marvel3's problem.

I view spidey as an avenger (before spOck) so it worked out for me.

More dissapointed in lack of Lost Planet robut.

He's motivated.....to bust a cap in shit and slice it. Got no qualms with concept, got qualms with execution. speaking of which I should play some DMC4 later.

Big Link and Small Link should have more differences than just hitboxes, physics, etc.

Jesus Christ GAF has been filled with a lot Wii U doomed threads today....hoping there is something revealed this remaining week to cheer me up after reading so much hate/negativity. =/
Or another funny avatar bet, sorry TB.

DK related post tomorrow most likely.....or a new 3DS stage. Smash footage seems like something to expect at VGX with some sort of character reveal.

I want Villager's FS to be the same as Captain Falcon's, just with Kapp'n in his taxi instead
I actually like the idea that he pulls in a giant fish as his Final Smash. It would be hilarious if he reels in the fish from Balloon Fight -- he already has the balloon helmet, so Sakurai might as well go all the way.
