I'm still going to buy it while it's on sale. I have questions about it, but I haven't found answers yet. Once I do, if I'm happy with the answers, I'll toss some money at it.
I do love how this looks, but it's a bit out of impulse buy price for me at the moment. Particularly as it'll end up backlogged to fuckery.

EDIT: It's cheaper than I thought actually. Must resist.

Having never played any of the Metal Gear Solid games, is the collection any good on the Vita or should I get the console version?
The console versions have more content, including the original I believe.

First time I played MGS2/3 was on the Vita, and I loved it. Great port; I think it was done by Armature who have a great track record on the Vita.

Only thing is Peace Walker was never released for the Vita, so if you want to play it in HD you need to buy it for consoles (either as part of the HD Collection or in as a standalone download).

What are those questions? I'm about 5 hours in so I might be able to provide some answers. I'm really liking it.

I spent like 60 hours with the PS3 version and a few hours with the Vita. I wasn't super fond of it but I can probably answer your questions about it.

Yup, sounds like someone rage-quitting cos it's too hard.

Tapping square helps as well when being chased down, lock on to nearest target.
Holy hell, I didn't know about the Square button. Jeez, I am playing the game now and am rockin' these stages so handily now. Mind you, I've been playing between the PS3 and Vita and I had been using R2 on the PS3. Just finding the Vita so much easier than tapping the screen now!
I use lock on. And sometimes it locks on to an enemy through a wall I can't shoot instead of the one that's going to crush my skull in a second with a pipe or bat. Lock on feels like a crapshoot unless everyone remotely near you is in a nice line to get mowed down.

It's a fun game but it feels clunky as fuck and it detracts from the gameplay for me. It's frustrating as hell to lock on to the wrong enemy and get killed. That's not my fault at all. I can deal with the randomness of things happening. I can deal with trial and error to figure out how best to do things. I can't deal with knowing exactly what to do but everything feels so clunky I have zero confidence in being able to do it. When I succeed I feel it's more a factor of luck than mastering game mechanics. Like I'm lucky that my gun blasts kill everyone in this group. I'm lucky that I locked on to the right person coming at me. I'm lucky that I got the jump on this dog here instead of it patrolling where it normally does.
"Clunky as fuck" is certainly not a term I'd use to describe the controls. You can use the right-stick to cycle through lock-on targets. I would advise, however, that you not use the lock-on system as a crutch. Focus more on planning your attacks and use the lock-on when being chased or setting up how you'd clear the rooms.

Also, scope out some YouTube videos. I became a lot better at the game once I watched some A+ runs. And, naturally, Hotline Miami is definitely a skill based game. The second time I ran through the game was vastly more different than my first, with each level being cleared in a much more elegant and stream-lined way.

In case you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of the game. :-)

My biggest questions are:

1) Is there a NG+?
2) Is there any reason to play on Normal vs Hard?
3) How robust is the end-game?
4) In regards to the end-game, are there "super challenging" dungeons or bosses to work towards?

If you only plan on getting the HD collection and don't plan to play the games in order anyways, play MGS3 first (it comes first chronologically). Has a nice mostly self-contained story and more modern gameplay mechanics. I've seen some people nearly quit the series trying out MGS2 first. If you like it you'll probably end up playing every other game in the series as a result.

I played a little bit of the post-game so probably can't answer too specific with your last two questions but..

1.) No.
2.) I played normal. It's very grindy but it feels like it's grindy to push people towards micro-transactions. Not too sure what Hard entails other than enemies just being 'tougher'.
3 and 4.) The first part of the end-game kind of picked up where the end left off. There's a place you go to help out someone and the enemies are a good 10-20 levels higher than you might be used to. I did notice throughout playing that some sectioned off portions of early dungeons had enemies with levels into the 100's. There's a trophy for reaching level 500 I think so I can see there being post-game bosses that are super high level.

Thanks, I think I'll do that.

As most of my gaming is on the Vita, the added benefit of the console versions seems a bit small to wait for a sale there. Downloading now.

So some bad news Vita

My 4th Vita seems to have a really bad Mura effect at the top of the screen i had seen it before but playing Spelunky and Blackgate has made me realise that It is actually visible even in very light conditions.
I have also seen it in Gravity Rush and Uncharted but both of those where only as i walked past something and was gone as soon as i noticed it.

It was when I was thrown into a dark cave in Spelunky where you have to use torches and it was permanently visible.
And when it goes dark in the industrial estate of black-gate is became permanently visible.
Both in even the brightest room.

So before i go and return yet another vita is this normal in these games or have I just got a particularly deep Effect?

I swear to god at some point i shall get a vita that isn't defective. -_-

Mura is unfortunately common, I'm surprised you're getting refunds. Like everyone (more than atleast 7/10) Vita 1000s have this.

I am aware it is common and understand this but I did not expect to see it there on my screen in a bright room during gameplay infact have seen several posts confirming this should not be the case.
Was that not correct?

(The other Vitas were returned for different reasons)

If you put Mura effect in google images some of the first pictures are the Vita, lol. I look for it there because I wasn't 100% sure about what that thing is. My Vita has some of it, but I can coexist with that problem. It's not that bad, really.

Still, it makes me wonder. Maybe I can go to GameStop and try them to give me one of those Vita bundles now that they are pretty cheap... probably not, even though I have one year warranty from them.

My vita has murra too. When I first saw it I was really disappointed but after some research I realised that it's the nature of the OLED beast.

These days, I never notice it. I only ever saw it in loading screens anyway but I haven't seen it in ages. Maybe my eyes got accustomed to it or...

Does the murra effect ease over time?

Sonic Racer is free in the EU PS+, but I still haven't tried it.
Playing Motorstorm RC at the moment, and I'm 8 events short of the last gold trophy I'm aiming at. Then I will give the Sonic Racer a shot, but if it's anything like Motorstorm, I'll nerd rage and delete it permanently from my memory card.
As I said in the last thread - I'm not really into racing games, but things like that make me wanna trow my Vita at a wall:

Just look at the target time (top left corner) and best time (top right corner). It's unbelievable! Getting 3 medals for the last 8 events and I don't wanna hear of Motorstorm RC ever again.

Hey Vitagaf I have a question. My vita won't turn on, I haven't played it for a while, so I decided to charge it. The button that's glowing orange is flashing while I charge it? Is it broke or does it need a new battery?

So I started Sen no Kiseki just to see the loading times. IMO, it's fine so far in the prologue.

Then I realized who a certain supporting character is. And that cute loli sporting the same surname. Don't read unless you're done with SC:
Can I expect the same levels of awesome from Alfin just for the sole fact that she's Olivier's little sister?

Having played Sora no Kiseki SC, it does kinda "spoil" some things on what's going to happen, LOL.

Let it charge for some time before turning it on
If the PS Button is blinking orange:
The battery has no remaining charge. Wait until the PS button stops blinking and lights up solid orange before pressing the power button again.

If it keeps like that in several hour after recharge, then you are screwed.

Go with Hard. You don't wanna go through with I what I went through. Mainly 1 hit deaths and replaying the whole stage because of forgetting to save.

Have you played SMTIV? I liked the difficulty in that, at least towards the beginning.

I went with Hard anyways, but I didn't have long to play last night and the plot setup seems to go on for a while :p

I just decided to import a Vita TV to take some of my Vita collection to my 2nd home theater (A projector in my bedroom) setup.

Should I assume all games on the Japanese compatibility list apply to the US versions?

No, as far as I know some of those games got patches to add in the functionality.

I rage quitted out of that game the first week. I couldn't deal with it. :P

Also played a bit of Killzone today and I'm getting my ass handed to me. Hard mode ain't no joke. Its pretty easy to get headshots though so that's good.
Sonic Racers is fun though and I'm really excited that US people are getting it. I've been wanting a kart racer on my Vita.

I'm almost done with Hotline Miami but my gosh its really really hard now. The story has actually grabbed me, something I didn't expect from it.

You can only use Japanese/Asia accounts on it, so if you have a US account you won't be able to play any of your digital games. Physical games that are compatible without the need for a patch should work.

Really enjoying Sonic Racing, it's very challenging though, struggling with some of the B class races already.

Is it challenging because its unfair or just because you gotta get used to it?

One thing I can't stand from Mario Kart is the ruberbanding because the computer cheats with its incessant blue shells.

Surprised at how positive people are on the Sonic & Allstars Racing port. The game almost became a slideshow when more than a couple of opponents/effects appeared on screen.

In daganronpa a group of students is kidnapped by monokuma to play a game, one of them kill another, at this point the player goes around to search for evidences(first person view with a mix of 3d and 2d) and to talk with the others, then there's the fast paced trial, if the killer is not discovered then everyone except him die, otherwise if the player accuses the killer and has evidences then the killer is executed and the game goes on with a new killer.

I know that I will not be able to access the store on it.

Most of my games are retail on cart, and I should be able to just pop in my existing memory card and go, right?

Truth is, I really enjoyed MotorStorm RC until the "super charged" events, which are (roughly) the final 1/3rd of the game. The regular events are short, fun and easy to jump in and out of. The super charged ones, set you to play on every map from the selected festival with a super fast car, that it just doesn't fit the small tracks. On top of that, the AI cut corners perfectly at full speed, while you get stuck in that one pixel, that have extended over the edge...

And reading about Sonic Racers' difficulty, it's AI probably cheats even more, which isn't fun, nor challenging. It's simply not fair.

Unless the memory card is tied to the account you're using on the Vita TV, it won't work. You have to format it, or the Vita TV will ignore it entirely.

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression only the store did not work, not being entirely locked out of my PSN account.

Guess no Vita TV for me yet.

Just in case it wasn't clear (which I was still a LITTLE confused about):

Me on Rainbow Moon Facebook page: Any reason to play on hard other than difficulty? Any special trophies/items?

Response from Rainbow Moon team: No, it's the same game. You will have to do more battles and manage your inventory well on hard. Would recommend most players to play on normal.

So I'll probably pick it up while it's on sale and just play Normal. Given that there's ZERO reason to play Hard...

E: Top of page...Buy Ys: Memeries of Celceta, the PSP Ys games, and Tearaway. Do it. Oh, and PS+ because it's pretty much stupid not to.
