Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Well, depends on the size of that thing

And not sure if it's going to be the moon being dropped since that can mean Skull Kid uses suicide to attack his enemies and not sure how Nintendo would like that :lol

he summons the moon, then teleports away. The moon acts kinda like the giant Bullet Bill from the Melee Peach's Castle

O hope items don't suck this time around. I almost explicitly played Brawl w/o items, not because I wanted more straight forward fights, but because I couldn't stand how all items were useless or OP. Melee's items seem even more amazing compared to Brawl's in retrospect; pokeballs were actually worth going for. Items seemed better balanced and fair.

Any high-level videos that feature items? I would love item-spawn options that would notify players when/where particular items would appear a 5-10 seconds in advance, if only to see more tournaments allow items.

Apparently. I would say it's more fair and reasonable to issue a forum-wide warning about this apparent rule, and -then- issue a ban to anyone who breaks it. This "shoot first, explain later" approach doesn't seem terribly fair to Zeer0id, even if it does make more of an impression.

This is the Dark Souls of message boards, though. potentially rewarding, yet demanding and full of danger. you take a risk and you may be punished for it. everyone else gets to touch your bloodstain/read your post history to get a vague idea of what happened to you.

*holds a moment of silence for Zeer0id*

He almost never hit anyone for me, but any reference to SimCity is okay in my book. Would love to have some music from it in this one!

He hit so rarely that I decided to upload it on Youtube lol when he finally did once :O

Mother really does have some amazing tracks that need more representation

Still pissed they cut out Eight Melodies and the two ending songs from Earthbound in Brawl (still loved what we got regardless of shameless lifting from Mother 3i). Melee's arrangement of the Pollyanna theme remains my favorite song from the whole Smash series.

Can't wait to see what they'll bring to the table this time.

The Moon. Normal-type moves barely dent Rock-types.

Although if Snorlax knows Brick Break...
but they both turn big and kill everyone

I might play SSB 64 later today. Pokeballs were much less complicated and Mew, the one legendary Pokemon, was still a myth.

Erm, why not? In Kid Icarus Uprising, another Sakurai game, you had high-speed twitch-action multiplayer battles, with four players online, where players could unleash giant spinning pyramids at each other.

This. Except, KI supported 6 characters online, super fast reflexes and a TON of stuff happening on-screen with zero issue.

Man, people are acting as if the 3DS is GBA level hardware.

Oh that's right, it was 3v3. So yeah, that strengthens my point further.

3DS is extremely capable hardware. I basically think of it as a portable GameCube.

Why the fuck did Zeer0id get banned and the Skull Kid thread closed?

Well, according to mods it was because the thread was a little bait-and-switchy. His thread title was like "Skull kid appears in Smash 4" then "...as playable character". I think it's only for a week, though. As to why the thread was closed...I dunno. Light on content, perhaps?

I remember how, prior to Pokémon X and Y, it drove me a little crazy realizing that somewhere in Japan, on a computer server in some office building, was a document detailing all of the new Pokémon.

Now I'm feeling that all over again realizing that in another office building somewhere in Japan, there's a document with the full SSB roster.

*twitches*

Mission: Impossible V. Let's do it.

To me it's more interesting to think that in that same building are the rejected Pokemon that will never be...

Moon is about to fall on some heads!

Does anybody else think that the skull kid reveal might have something to do with a Zelda Wii U announcement by Reggie at the VGX tomorrow? I was thinking yesterday that their was a much higher chance of a Zelda reveal if Sakurai revealed a new Zelda character, and skull kid is kind of like a new character, even if he is an assist trophy.
I think these are the big positives and negatives of whether or not Zelda U will be revealed:
-Nintendo hasn't hyped up the event much
-It's about an upcoming game
-The website says it will be a new look
-the Doritos Pope would have hyped it to hell if it were Zelda
-Nintendo doesn't like to make their fans happy
+Zelda U has nearly been revealed twice before
+the second potential reveal would have been at New York Comic Con, which isn't really a major gaming event, so Nintendo could be willing to show at VGX
+Nintendo has never been at VGX before
+Nintendo needs to grow the Wii U fanbase, and it needs a killer app. Knowledge of Zelda could get some people on the fence to get a Wii U this christmas
+The average VGX viewer probably wouldn't care about any Nintendo game apart from Smash or Zelda, and Bayonetta and X wont sell too many units.
+and- Nintendo is completely unpredictable
This might be a bit off topic, but so is 70% of this thread.

I'm thinking the assist trophy will work one of two ways....

- one, the moon starts to fall slowly from the top of the screen and anyone that touches it gets insta-killed but it never actual crashes down to the stage and is caught by the 4 guardians. It is more strategic because you won't be able to use aerials and will be trying to pop up other characters into the air.

- two, the moons falls and crashes into the stage but it affects everyone, including the character who summoned it. This would make people think twice about picking up every single assist trophy that pops onto the screen.

What do ya'll think?

Looking back, It's funny that he was able to destroy the moon without there being any consequences for earth.
Well, Muten-Roshi already had demonstrated that it doesn't have a real effect on Earth itself. That time it probably still had consequences, though. Remember the thugs Goku punished by having them bake cakes on the moon in chapter 17?

Yeah, neither does Muten-Roshi or anyone else
because the explosion of the moon certainly killed them

If the Moon was a character, all of its attacks would be meteor smashes. It'd also have no recover. It would just fall and destroy everything.

Some stuff sakurai has stated about characters like Ice Climbers being hard to execute on 3DS, this combined with the total lack of items in all 3DS screenshots makes me feel like we can't necessarily expect the same content in both games.

(I also feel like some items might make particularly good use of either HD or 3D but not the other. So unique items/assits per game might benefit from each system.)

I might be wrong of course, but the different stages, screen size & visuals seem like they'd invite to different items as well.

3DS version

free for all

4 players playing ice climbers

pokeballs on high

I wonder if the little bugger could handle it.

Yes thank you for assuming I don't understand there is a program that let's you manipulate pictures.... How do I computer?

Next time I will better clarify understanding everyone in the Internet is always looking for opportunities to find faults in others.

ASSUMING THE SKULLKID SUMMONS THE MOON DURING HIS ATTACK, do you think either of my two predictions will line up?

And to think I was so close to create a similar thread before Zeer0id's with the same bait-and-switch content :O
I dodged a bullet there :O
