Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

To be honest, I think it's rather silly that people feel the need to create a thread anytime a character or stage is revealed.

A lot of people are interested in Smash Bros, but not everyone wants to stay up til 2 am or wade though a thread full of round and round arguments and crap to find whatever the new picture of the day is.

I appreciated it. I don't check the site everyday so I was surprised to learn about Skull Kid (and later that same thread, Male Wii Fit Trainer).

As we say: New thread for new news. Skull Kid has the significance of being 1) a requested character that now won't be playable, 2) the first Assist Trophy they've shown and first time they've mentioned the return of this item, and 3) yet another Majora's Mask reference among feverish demand for a remake. It's notable on several levels.

Jumbo screen shows the true identity of the Moon, it is Fox!
What about the 3DS screens?!

We always get one or two for a reveal!! =P
The Moon was too big to fit on the 3DS, so it isn't on the 3DS version.

Many people don't look through this thread at all, so they won't know about new things unless a new thread is made.

Look, I love Smash Bros. but am not so hyper into it like the people in this thread; people simply don't click mega-threads like this one which is why it is good that a new thread is being made when there are news, and new characters is something almost everybody here cares about

Yep, I especially think anything character-related, be it playable or Assist Trophy, should get its own thread since not everyone follows the mega-thread, and anything character-related changes the dialogue when it comes to speculating who will make the cut.

i sure hope they make the pokeball Pokemon items not shitty this time

too many non-attackers and the 3 pokeball limit was absolutely lame

also munchlax ruined things

Man, if Nintendo took a cue from PS All-Stars and did crossover stages, it'd be cool to run around the MM Moon in the Mario Galaxy stage.

You always have to bring SmashGAF back into Pokemon discussion, don't you!?
And what 3 pokeball limit are you talking about?

EDIT: Nevermind.

...lol coincidence. ive never thought of that

maybe it wasnt 3 but i remember it being very limiting in brawl?

Haha, well I'm just messing with you.
But it's true. :P
I've never played with "Only Pokeballs", so I'm not sure. But I can totally see that being a restriction. Having > 3 pokeballs open on screen at once would be pretty insane. The poor 3DS might have a heart attack.

I'll leave you to guess as to why that was possible. :p

But I agree with your point, it does suck. :/

im going to say that Brawl was much more complex with features and quantity so I guess the engine had to load allll of that

oh and another dumb thing is that you cant disable stickers, so pokeball only matches w/ crates are even more annoying!

Sakurai seemed to try to rebalance the Pokeballs in Brawl, toning down the power of common Pokemon, raising the power of legendaries, but making them rarer. He kind of messed up Latios and Latias though, even considering that design decision. They seem too powerful for how often they appear. It also seems like that throwing multiple Pokeball at once raised the chance of getting repeated Pokemon with no attacks.

I like the idea of making legendary Pokemon rarer, but, yeah, the increase of standard Pokemon without attacks made it a very inconsistent item.

I used to have Pokébattles in Melee all the time. Max Pokéballs while playing on Pokémon Stadium as Mewtwo was amazing. Such glorious chaos!

Brawl's Pokébattles are no where near as fun. Gardevoir, Gardevoir, Munchlax, Goldeen, Staryu, Munchlax, Lati@s. Yeah...

It's a good thing they are strong since everything else was laughably weak.

Brawl I believe actually had more pokemon then Melee, but most of the time you only ever saw a handful of them aka Gardevoir, Munchlax, and Bonsly

Yep! That was the issue and this is coming from a very recent Pokeball fight in Brawl. I remember it very well and being completely disappointed by how terrible that was...

Hell, we should just get a "PokeMode" where Pokemon randomly spawn all over the place and unleash themselves upon the stage.
I think there's a hack for that.

It's a shame something similar to event 37 in melee "legendary pokemon" didn't return. One of my favorite event matches.

Just for numbers

Smash had 13 pokeball pokemon (not counting Saffron City pokes)

Melee had 29 pokeball pokemon

Brawl had 31 pokeball pokemon

Yet whenever I throw Brawl in for an hour with mates or with AI I only ever seem to see a few pokeball pokemon

Speaking of that (goes to play Brawl)

There should be a Safari Zone stage where random Pokemon are just constantly popping out -- Rhyhorns racing by like the cars in Onett, etc.

I may be wrong, and I'm too lazy to actually look it up right now, but I think Brawl had more Legendary Pokemon than Melee and thus had less Pokemon that actually showed up regularly.

I'll never understand why Brawl didn't just port over all the existing Poke Balls from Melee and add onto that. Weren't the Pokemon models ported over from Battle Revolution anyway?

That's really it? It always felt like so much more.
